Re: The Official Sean Williams Watch
This is a sad and stupid case.
The guy was the best team mate in NJ. Now he is amlcontent. Anyway. He isnt helping his case.
I like this kid's potential but I am pretty sure he will be playing in the D-League for awhile before any team picks him up.
As for hodges, did u see that article about him not showing up to a game. That is questionable behavior too. He needs to come out and explain what happened.

Re: The Official Sean Williams Watch
Sean would do well in a situation where he can come off the bench & just run around trying to chase down blocks, take charges, get rebounds but not really have to go 'by the book' or 'know plays'.
Kinda like Jerome "JYD" Williams - fans loved his energy & hustle but the closer you looked at his game the more annoyed you got with the missed assignments, etc but for a certain type of team that could work for a time.
In a Frank controlled environment this is where an X's and O's guy like Boone can be rewarded but a guy like Sean will be a short leash away from the doghouse.

Here's what Williams' d-league coach has to say:“They give us an athletic presence,” said Colorado coach Bob MacKinnon of the NBA assignees. “All three have come in and been hard-working guys. They’ve added to what we’ve got in terms of guys working hard. It’s been a good experience.”
Most of the above posts by you guys seem not only classless but counterproductive from the Nets' and also Williams' point of view. Shouldn't he be given credit for trying to improve his game and play another position? Since some of you feel he doesn't have the skills to play SF, isn't the d-league a great place to try to build those skills? Isn't that what it's for?
Seems to me he's playing really hard down there if he's picking up fouls and chirping at the refs. Once he gets some kind of rhythm going he'll be fine.

Re: The Official Sean Williams Watch
A few weeks in the D-League isn't gonna make him a serviceable 3 in the NBA.
If he wants to build those skills, I'd much rather not be paying him guaranteed money and have him do this on his own time.
I also think there is a difference between being critical and being classless too. I don't think we're crossing that line AT ALL right now. Management sent him down there specifically at this time because the NBDL showcase was coming up. I'm not saying that we should give Thorn sainthood for it, but we sent him there so HE could try to improve his stock becaue, if he wants out, that is what he needs to do. He hasn't done a thing to help his cause. And I don't think management has been completely counterproductive with him when he was with us. We probably have the biggest logjam of bigmen in the NBA. HE was well aware of this in July by midnight on draft night. I think management is doing what is best for the team. There are only so many minutes to go around and we gave it to the players that deserve it the most.
Again, I'm laying the majority of his situation on him. I'm putting some on his agent (even though I don't know who is his agent) because I think he's putting (Please Use More Appropriate Word) notions in his head. Some is management, but it's not like we were classless or had a vandetta against him. When Stro earns minutes over you, you know it's more than just "Coach Frank hates me."

With Yi out I'm thinking it's time to bring Sean back up to the big leagues and try playing him at PF again it's not like his value can get any lower.

Are sure about that?
No disrespect, but lest us not forget Eddie Griffen.

I might be open to that depending on what team they are from.
If it is a bottom 5 team, it's like a 1st round pick that you don't have to give a guarenteed contract to.

I'm watching the game right now, it's kind of hard to tell what's going on with the crappy camera angles, but from what I've seen Sean's impact on defense has been limited but he has managed to hit a couple of odd looking perimeter shots...
I still think he'd be much better playing PF so why he wants to play SF is beyond me...

He needs to re-establish himself in the Dleague and work on his foul/turnover/bad defense issues.

an Williams' monster 16-point, 16-rebound, six-block performance helped visiting Colorado overcome a 19-point defict and defeat Austin on Saturday to create a first-place tie in the Southwest Division.
He also had 6 assists but 5 turnovers... Sean shot 7-13 from the field and 2-2 from the line.

Re: The Official Sean Williams Watch
Replicate stats around this for a week or two, and we may be able to get him out of town by the deadline. If he can just get like 14/8 and 2-4 blocks a game for a decent span, we can probably get someone (or a pick) that is not completely worthless. I honestly think we're trying hard to package him in a 2-1 though to free up a spot. There's like a month till the trade deadline so I'm assuming his name will start popping up soon.

Re: The Official Sean Williams Watch
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Conley.
Not that he is that good, but he would be a really nice option off the bench.
I don't believe that rumored deal at all with Milwaukee, it's probably hyperbole being created by Memphis in an attempt to up his outgoing value. I know Sessions ia a UFA and they would like to get value for him, but he is so much better than Conley it is not even funny and then they add Alexander to the deal?

I honestly have no idea why Memphis would do that deal anyway. Getting sessions (when tons of PG's) and Joe Alexander when they have Gay and Warrick. Both those guys are solid, but neither can play starters minutes primarily at the 4 so why would they want another young SF? doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
Oh well, January and February is generally my favorite time for the NBA because all these crazy trades start popping up.

Well I'd bet willing to be he's never gotten the opportunity to work on those skills in the NBA. Maybe if he can send a message with the d-league that he has some potential to become a quality SF he will get an opportunity at that position in the NBA.
If he does decently at SF it may help his trade value. The Grizzlies did that with Drew Gooden, since they didn't want to play him over Stromile Swift at the PF/C position, and it worked, and they ended up trading him for Mike Miller.
