IMO best case scenario, Kenny allows LeVert to develop into the PG/Primary ball handler/Distributor that Kenny and co. have talked about since hes already shown an incredible ability create off the dribble and pass. This would allow D'Angelo to continue playing the off-guard. And Caris would defend whichever opposing guard was the biggest offensive threat.

In fact my dream starting line-up for the 2018-19 season would be:

Caris LeVert
D'Angelo Russell
Otto Porter (Signed on max contract this offseason)
Jabari Parker (max in 2018 and hope that small market Bucks wont go into the tax to retain a player with 2 acl tears)
Jarrett Allen

Hopefully the numbers check out.

13th Man wrote:I posted this on the General Board that good young guards have been hard to come by, just check out the last 4 years draft picks and how they've turned out:

2013 - Oladipo (2), McLemore (7), KCP (8), Burke (9), McCollum (10), MCW (11)
2014 - Exum (5), Smart (6), Stauskus (8), Payton (10)
2015 - DLo (2), Hezonja (5), Mudiay (7)
2016 - Dunn (5), Hield (6), Murray (7)

So the Nets managed to nab arguably the 2nd best guard in the batch aside from CJ McCollum. This is a great get, and we know that DLo will be have more upside here as well.

And CJ McCollum didn't become good till his 3rd year

CJ came into the league as a 22 year old and averaged 5.3ppg and 6.8ppg in his 1st two years

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/mccolcj01.html

DLo is so far ahead of CJ's curve it isn't even funny.
Spread Em and Dead em.
-Sad DLO is gone
-Allen will become LobCity DJ
-Kyrie will be top 3 for MVP if we get to 50+ wins, he will average 27ppg, 7apg, shooting 50-40-90

Subtext: "You're gonna have to sign several thousand jerseys and basketballs in the weeks and months ahead!" (Or however many they expect out of their bigger-name players, I have no idea.)

If you're a better SG than you are a PG overall, I don't think that hugely affects your career/earning prospects really, right? At all, even?

And if you're a very talented SG, you just might have a longer lease on NBA playing life than a PG. It's nice D-loading has the requisite height at 6-5 to be a legit SG.

The way the league is trending, it's more defensive assignments than anything anyway. Dloading is a "guard" and a "wing". He'll do some combo of traditional SG duties and PG duties. And it's gonna be fun to watch this upcoming season.

I don't know why you guys are debating this. Russell is a Pg and a Sg at the same time. If he is playing with Lin, he'll look to score more. If he is playing with LeVert, he'll be more of a Pg.

It just depends who he is next to in the backcourt.

Upside. Versatile. Guard.

That's all I see and all I care about. Bring on preseason already!

not liking Dlo is one thing. making absurd delusional comments because he is linsecure is not the same thing.

saying a #2 pick who posted 15/5/4 at 20 years old will be out of the league is not an opinion, its a delusion

Who knows? Who knows? Look at guys like Beasley.

OTOH, he made similar comments before the trade, it definitely has nothing to do with Lin or him being a Lin fan.

Wasn't it like, the first game he played at SG he exploded for 40 and then stayed there with Clarkson at PG?

He is probably gonna play SG

He is probably going to play Sg this season, but it doesn't matter. Russell and Lin are both going to play Pg and Sg at the same time. Who cares about positions when they are both combo guards.

Also, I watched that Lakers-Cavs game, and even though he was called a "Sg" that game, he literally played the same way as when he was a "Pg" the game before. He played literally the exact same way.

him hating russell before the trade doesnt make his comments any less riddiculous. you cant call someone a bust who already proved he isnt a bust. "out of the league in 3 years"

its just trolling from someone who has trolled here since day 1

That's cool man, say whatever to him, call him whatever, just don't involve Lin/Lin fans and it's fine.

I still do not understand this trade as a Lakers fan. One of the worse trades in Lakers history. Russell, has the potential to average 25 points a game.If he can continue towork on change of direction (ball handling) and master the floaterin the lane, he will easily average 25 a game. His three point shoot will become more consistent with repitition

~lol~ If true then I guess the title excites him more?

What was Clarkson doing?

Honestly, at 6'5, being not too quick, models his game on Manu, I doubt he'll ever totally be a PG in this league.

Agreed about the positions, except that Lin is very good at throwing long passes down the court, it'd be a shame if he doesn't get to do that.

Russell has so much Paul Pierce in his game... he is legit like the point gaurd version of paul pierce. size, strength, craft handle.

Russell Pull up jumper is completely wet and he is great and creating space to get it off. I'd love to see him add the shoulder fake pierce does to get guys off their feet then draw the contact for the easy foul. pierce was great at it and mostly because pierce pull up was so good you need to make sure you contested it.

Russell is the same. if he adds that he can get to the FT line more.

Another thing Russell can add that can really take his game to the next level is finishing with his right hand. he is a really weak right handed finsiher. he rarely even goes to it and will often miss inside trying to gt lefty on the right side. This shouldnt be a tough transition for him since his right hand is so good on the dribble.

I cant wait to see this kid start playing in a nets uniform. have to go back to kenyon martin last time i was this pumped to watch a young nets player

I see the same similarities with Pierce. His fallaway jumper from the post looks just like him. If he can develop an edge to his game like Pierce lookout.

I feel for you guys because I know what it's like to watch your team's management make a baffling trade. I would have not traded that kid off in a salary dump like that.

This is exactly what I was saying man...he's got shades of PP in his game. I hope we run sets for him in the post as well.

I seriously doubt that LVJ will ever be a PG, he's an SF now or maybe will be point forward like an LBJ
