Porter would be such a great fit at either Forward position. I'd try to engage Washington in a S&T, so that they don't match.

Similarly, Gallinari would be a solid plan B even though he's injury prone.

I'm sure they liked a lot of the same things about Wilson, plus the fact that he can shoot. Doesn't matter much either way, guys were probably right next to each other on their board so good to get 1 of them. For where this team is getting the younger guy might be a good thing even if he's raw.

Allen is an enormous center, with long arms making him bigger than his 6-foot-11 height, and huge hands (they were measured at a combine-high 9.5 inches) that help him be a top-notch rebounder. Despite the size, he is still considered a serious athlete and has enough mobility, and a solid mid-range jumper, to survive in the rapidly-evolving league that has fallen out of love with traditional big men. He could stand to put on some muscle, and is a brutal shooter from the free-throw line, but most of the flaws in his game are fixable if he’s willing to work hard.

Quotable: “Personally, I think I can help all of them. Every team has an area that I can offer some help.”—Allen, on what teams he would be able to help.

How he fits: Allen had been the top player left on most draft boards for quite a while, so the Nets seemingly got a bargain with the 22nd pick. They may have found a reasonable replacement for Brook Lopez, who left in the D’Angelo Russell trade. If Timofey Mozgov is healthy enough to play, that will take some pressure off of Allen to develop immediately.

Still, his huge wingspan and great athleticism project to allow him to become an elite defender. While he will need to get stronger, develop his perimeter jumper, and learn to leverage his length on the defensive end of the floor, he has all the tools to be an excellent two-way center in today’s game.

Don't be fooled by Jarrett Allen's hair. Even though the tip of his afro might reach well over seven feet into the air, he's really only 6'10". But don't let that fool you, either. With his 7'5" wingspan, he's still capable of functioning as a standalone interior defender who can shut down the paint and force opponents into awkward shots.

The Brooklyn Nets needed a replacement for Brook Lopez after trading him to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package centered around D'Angelo Russell, and they've found one. He just doesn't play nearly the same game, since Allen is defined by his rebounding, athleticism and knack for rolling to the hoop to finish plays in the restricted area.

Adjusting to this style might be difficult. But especially if Allen can add a perimeter jumper—he went 0-of-7 from beyond the arc during his lone season as a Longhorn—it'll be well worth the stylistic shift.

It’s smart in theory and certainly justifiable, but there’s equal reason to be skeptical. The good news is that Brooklyn can afford to wait and see. Grade: B–

yeah, i would have liked him too. but this kid pretty much is brooklyn grit. he seems pretty chill too from his interview, not really emotional about the moment. reminds me a bit of caris in that regard.

Allen has serious upside and I love that Brooklyn is thinking long-term. My only knock on him is he doesn't seem to fully be engaged during games. I know KA won't allow said inconsistencies so I can ride with this selection.

Can he shoot threes?

no... he didnt even attempt them. so maybe he can develop it but he didnt take them. he kind of just scores in transition or on dunks. he doesnt really look to do much on offense. he is a defender who finishes everything. perfect fit. glad we took him. was worried the lack of threes would sway markinson. they are too smart for that

gun to my head i may still have gone patton cause of offensive upside. but this is the best i could have hoped for

I guess he'll have to get his FT better first, then Atkinson will probably try to get him to practice the three.

Sounds like a good target for Lin/LVJ/DRuss' passes and lobs, exciting
