The forward competition should be interesting. I'd put my money on Jalen Wilson, but Watford and Williams are similar age with more starts under their belts.

this was a cheaper/smaller scale version of the okoro move i've been advocating. okoro is the better player so if they move more bodies i could still see that one making sense too, this just shows us how hard it is to dump money. that a 22 year old only making $6m had to have a 2nd round pick attached to dump is pretty surprising.

We got a good flyer. This was a great trade. He’s shown flashes but the Grizzlies are trying to contend. He’s going to fit in nicely.

This is his potential vs Milwaukee:

Gonna be great to see this guy go off, get excited, then have no idea why he stops getting minutes.

Chances are he continues to be hot garbage. Couldn’t get minutes on a strong playoff team, couldn’t produce or get minutes on one of the absolute worst teams in the league.

Hope for him he can turn it around, and a good upside pickup at zero cost, but expectations should be literally zero. Probably won’t be in the league in 3 years.

Ziaire Williams :

Salary 24-25 $ 6,133,000
Salary 25-26 $ 8,350,000 qualifying offer

As it stands right now ZW will be the 7TH highest paid player on the Nets this upcoming season.

Mamadi Diakite was team option of $2,275,000

Williams salary adds an extra 6 mill to the overall salary which now has us as the 17TH highest.

The is exactly the type of player we should be taking a chance on. A former first round, 10TH overall lottery pick. I see it as low risk and possible high reward.

agreed. MEM had to attach a 2nd round pick on him to move him even though he's still on a rookie deal for a reason. odds of success are probably somewhere in the ballpark of the jahlil okafor move. but those are the exact right fliers to take when you are in the situation the nets are in.

I know winning is good for youngins to keep growing, but this is our window to tank.

We need a top 3 pick in the 25 draft. We need elite level talent.

With that said I hope we find a way to get rid of CJ and DFJ for more future asssets/young players.

agreed our window is to tank this year. But I do hope Marks and co. keep exploring all options, in case we wind up with like the 8th pick in the draft.

Nice move for Williams too. Don't see any short term downside at all. Let's see what these young guys can do on this glorified G league team. lol

Was always a big fan of Barrett at Seton Hall. Actually had a season ticket package for a couple seasons, was at the game when they upset Pittsburgh, place was crazy even though there were less than 10k in attendance.

I know Atlanta has no reason to tank this year because the Spurs have their pick...

but if they called and said Trae for Ben, straight up, would anyone take that?

I know the goal is to stink this year... but just wanted to see.

What are the nets looking to get for Cam Johnson? I see Orl is rumored to have interest, but I don't see how that would work.

Cam Johnson for Jett Howard or Anthony Black, 2025 1st, contract filler like Cole Anthony.

If that's all is takes to get Trae, I say they should make that trade. I know the goal is to finish with one of the 4 worst records, but that trade is just too much value to say no to. Trae will only be 25 years old by the start of the season. While his defense is bad, his offensive game is too appealing. In a hypothetical world, if the nets did this trade for Trae, and then moved both CamJ and DFS for future draft picks/young guys, I still think the team will end up as a bottom 4-to-6 team record wise. The interesting question after making this move, which I think they'd have to do, is what then happens to Cam Thomas. There is no way the team can have a starting back court of Trae and CamT. So either CamT agrees to be a permanent 6th man and spot starter, or the nets would have to trade CamT too in my opinion.

Black and a FRP is my preferred CamJ trade. Would really like that move.

Trae is one expensive tank commander...

I'd be interested in moving CamJ to the Magic for one of their younger guys, but I'd value the pick much more
