Re: The Official Allen Crabbe Thread
Efficient tonight.
13-22 in FGs.
7-8 on 2 point shots. And 6-14 on 3 Ptrs.
I loved seeing his variety of 2 point shots. He had shots from elbow. Layups, Leak out for that beautiful DLo outlet pass for easy layup. Floaters. Baseline jumper. Turnaround jumper

I just noticed he has an off centered finish, it's robbing him of the rotation he can get on his 3's. Watch that last three on the tip out by Harris. No wasted anything. Then watch his first 3 of the game, his wrist finishes at 2 o'clock and that can flatten your shots.
This is what I'm talking about. You can see it on his mid range shot
His release is 2-3 o'clock. It needs to be closer to 1 o'clock to get the rotation for his 3's. His last 3 had perfect rotation.

B/c it wasn't wasted motion, he had to shoot it on a closing tap out.

Re: The Official Allen Crabbe Thread
this is why I say give Crabbe some time. i was waiting for him to start exploiting the mid range. hopefully this gives him more confidence going forward.

Re: The Official Allen Crabbe Thread
I missed this game but loved seeing the diversity in Crabbe's repetoire. Obviously, it helped that his 3s were falling, but it was good to see his post-ups, floaters, and drive/pullup jumpers. He needs to stay aggressive all the time. I think Crabbe needs all of this season, a full offseason, and until mid next year to really gauge where he's at.

Re: The Official Allen Crabbe Thread
It's nice to see Crabbe have a big game. It was encouraging that he wasn't really that hot from the 3 pt line and still contributed. He's getting more comfortable in the mid-range + floaters. Kenny even said he's okay with him taking bad shots as long as he's aggressive.
I mentioned it in the last GT I think but I've seen the coaching staff make an effort to have Crabbe attack mismatches. Earlier in the year, he was passing out of it every time. In the last week or so, I've seen him actually attack in isolation. Mostly turning into mid-range pull ups - not ideal but he's hit them at a decent rate. That's a really good way to stretch his skills out and get him more comfortable scoring vs. just spotting up.

He needs to start from mid then move out. I'd like to see him do his best Rip Hamilton impression with those curls. Him and DLo helped cut that lead in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

No one has spoken about this.

You just pointed out why I hate this offense
They seem to be coached to shoot the 3 and if that's not falling the team looks lost
I understand that's how the warriors play get up and down the floor quick threes
I wish we'd play like the Jason Kidd teams get up and down the court but go to the basket more
When jahlil is out the play inside out try and run the half court offense through him the team would end up with more open looks
When it's Allen run up and down the court push the pace but not jack up 3s as the first option

they're not coached just for the 3.
We're coached on a SnR read, offense. At times we drive if we have the mismatch at the top, at times we run motion strong wit a double stagger to open up wings. At times we throw it in the post and facilitate by the big kicking it out. Joe Harris is very skilled moving wit out the ball. Others not so much. Crabbe is just starting to do this more as his outside jumper is at times flat.

atkinson would love to have more layups in transition and in general... problem is the team doesnt have guys that can get to the rim or finsish the way that kidd team could.
RHJ is no kenyon martin
levert is no RJ
crabbe is no kittles
dinwiddie is no kidd
that team had 3 high jumping track stars around kidd.

exactly...
once we get more talent here, we will get more easy bucks and points inside the arch. its hard to do that when you have just 1 or 2 guys on the roster that can consistently break down their defender.
We will eventually replace Carroll with our SF of the future, and future leading scorer.

I love Crabbe's last couple of games, its just sad that if teams figure out how to defend him on screens he goes missing.

Re: The Official Allen Crabbe Thread
The degree of difficulty on some of his shots tonight was very high. And he was able to hit shots in some real high stress moments in game. Din and DLo have to find a way to get him the ball more in crunch time,

Re: The Official Allen Crabbe Thread
A portland fan said he starts the season slow which has been the truth. It looks like he did a lot of hard work changing his game from a spot up shooter to a score; which is what the coach wanted from him.
He's became a good defender in the first quarter of the season
He added off the dribble layups, a floater to his game
He was already a deadly spot up shooter the last two games he's been on fire first 34 points in Detroit then 28 at Barclays.

he's had back to back some of the best games of his career. A switch clearly has gone on.

Re: The Official Allen Crabbe Thread
Just got around to watching both of those highlights in full and they were really impressive. Love the block he had in transition in the Detroit game as well as some of his contested runners. Everyone says they want development and we are watching exactly that with Crabbe. Forget the numbers, he's pushing his game and showing he can do more than just hit 3's, now he just needs to find a comfort zone and develop more consistency.

Re: The Official Allen Crabbe Thread
I loved that Crabbe said after Pelicans game that he has to play more with no conscience. That’s absolutely what he needs to do. He needs to take over 20 shots a game until KA has to tell him to stop; he needs to demand the ball when he sees Din and DLo start to go all iso hero ball at end of games; ..not playing with a conscience, not thinking, should be his number one goal.

In 2016 when Kobe Bryant was asked which players now in League had the same killer instinct he did, he gave one of my favorite basketball quotes
“There’s several of them, I think, out there right now that approach the game extremely, extremely seriously. I get a kick out of watching Golden State play because they seem very unassuming. Klay and Steph seem very calm and nice guys, those guys are stone cold killers. They don’t care about what you think of them. They don’t care about if they make a game-winning shot or miss it. They’re out there to do their job and they have a very strong sense of a killer instinct.”
