Sixers, Noel not talking contract extension via Philly.com

Bryan Colangelo said Tuesday that the 76ers and Nerlens Noel have not discussed a contract extension, and this season's deadline to extend contracts in the final year of a player's rookie deal is Oct. 31.

"It's not really something that we've discussed given some of the concerns that I think Nerlens has had right now," said Colangelo, the team's president of basketball operations. "There's been very little, if any, discussion with his agents about any extension scenarios.

"But, I'll just leave it at that."

Noel said on Sept. 25 that it didn't make sense for the Sixers to have three starting-caliber centers: Noel, Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor. At the time, Noel said that he wasn't asking to be traded or demanding that the Sixers trade someone else. He just wanted them to hurry up and decide how they would eliminate the overcrowded situation.

Well this doesn't sound good at all. Maybe this is just posturing from both sides or maybe it really is that bad between the camps.

Word on the street is San Antonio might look to move Aldridge for a lottery pick this year, like when they moved George Hill for the right to draft Kawhi Leonard

The 76ers could throw a major wrench in a lot of teams' FA plans if Colangelo can convince Paul Milsap to agree to a max extension if he's traded to Philly

I think the real word on the street is that some reporters spun Zach Lowe's "2016-17 season crazy predictions" article and ran away with one of his ideas.

Maybe LMA doesn't feel like SAS is a true contender or that they are on the way down considering the age of SAS roster compared to one like Boston's roster.

But then again, I'm waiting for some more substantial information before I accept hearsay.

Why would Millsap want to extend with Philly?

Millsap wants to play on a team with good vets right now. I don't think he wants to wait a few years for Simmons and Embiid to develop into good NBA players.

He's 31 - this is his last season to cash out

I think we're actually seeing the opposite trend. Players are now making so much money that they'd rather take a bit less to play in a place they enjoy rather than making as much money as possible.

I don't Millsap but he seems like the guy who wants to be apart of deep playoff runs for the next 4-5 years rather than struggle to make the playoffs.

The Sacramento Kings have reportedly offered Rudy Gay and Darren Collison to the Miami Heat for Slovenian point-guard Goran Dragic. But Miami is looking for a better package to move Dragic

So Simmons is out until January and Noel and Bayliss are both out the first month of the season. Not sure how anyone can think they'll win more games than us.

Switch Bogut and Barnes with KD and Zaza, I guess their D has suffered quite a bit.

The consolation with Simmons is that we can rest assured that our development program is modeled on the Spurs'.
