That would be a huge boost. I don't want MDA any where near our bench next season.

He and Nash are a package deal, if MDA goes Nash has to go aswell.

Really? In that case I hope they both go to Portland.

Well, I think D'Antoni is the mind behind the offense and style of play, without him Nash will be even more exposed. If you want to change direction of the team then both have to go.

What are some good offensive minds that we can bring in to hold Nash's hand?

I kinda feel like Marks effed up by not hiring Lue.

I think letting D'Antoni go might be the way to go. He's a great offensive mind but the hard-headedness and reluctance to play the bench reek of his influence... As I said in another thread the ball had to keep moving and the bench bad to remain invovled as players dropped like flies instead the opposite occurred...

Playing Harris over Green is unforgivable.

If Green has that look he makes it. I just don't believe otherwise. Hes made way too many big shots for us.

Its completely logical to assume Harris would snap out of it. But he just wouldn't. And you HAVE to realize it.

The sad part is, Nash never gave up on Joe throughout the struggle and got screwed for it.

That's a hard lesson to learn.

Even said in the press conference I'm not worried about Joe.

Well MAYBE you should have been Steve.

I would have more confidence in Bruce Brown taking that 3.

My theory goes back to an interesting idea that great players with a few exceptions make terrible head coaches.

It's because they can't relate to players struggling or losing confidence because it rarely happens to them.

Like Barry bonds being a hitting coach he says do what I do like I do it.

Nash sees the game and maybe coaches the same way. Look at how he uses timeouts he didn't see momentum swings that he needs to try and stop he just thought they can play through it. Then when you look up it's a double digit deficit. I get it in the regular season because you want them prepared for late game situations with no timeouts. LP

Just compare him to ty Lue. He sees role players struggling and will sit them or bench them he did it in Cleveland and he does it with the clippers. Nash will sees Harris and thinks he can play out of it.

I can't truly evaluate his impact here in Brooklyn. D'Antoni was essentially the offensive coordinator, while Jacque ran the defensive scheme.

Ime really impressed me with Philly in 2019, the Sixers straight locked up our entire team other than Caris. He was responsible for their defense then, and they were a lucky bounce from Kawhi away from even greater success IMO. So, assuming you are a Boston fan, you're in good hands if you hire Udoka.

We did none of those things. it was mid baseline post, pint down high wing screen with 1 screener, or KD bring it up and chuck.

I have been in a FB group for a couple of years. Fans of all different sports teams. And it can be frustrating how little people who only watch highlights and box scores get the problems we have. You basically said word for word what I said.

We have no play book. No adjustments. We run through Harden, you get good spacing, good ball movement and easy buckets. You run through the other two, high screen roll, use a lot of clock, drive to a contested mid range jumper for 2 and no foul call. Over, and over. I dont care how great KD and Kyrie are at self creating. You cant beat good teams playing like that for the majority of your shots. Especially if you arent an elite defensive team. You need to make your opponent work on defense. You need to move the ball through the pass. You need to draw fouls and increase your 3 point opportunities and force them to alter their rotations early. Get easy shots for your role guys. Build their confidence in case there is a late shot. They will also reward you with more defensive intensity.

We do not have plays. We do not have in game adjustments and without Harden leading the way, we do not have ball movement. Nash is a great guy. Awesome with media and personnel. But he is the WORST bench coach in the league.

EnetRIC you’re right about everything you said
Ps I’ve been looooooong time lurker on this board ( about 15 years or more ) always valued your opinions, and I’m really glad you come back sir
What blows my mind how after 20 years of solid posts (25k) you got 149 and ones ? :banghead:

Not derailing the thread , yes I’m all for couching change , not sure i can stand MDA anymore after mid playoff series taking job interviews and Nash clapping after 20 points blowouts like nothing happened

I wonder if doc rivers will be fired. Lol. At least the nets aren’t the only ones to lose game seven on their home court. Top two teams in the East out. Nash still sucks.

The big difference is they were healthy and we weren't. Our loss hurt me, but after we lost Game 6 I kind of accepted the fact that we were probably going to lose Game 7 at home.

I disagree with you in terms of adjustments. I saw a clear adjustment from game 6 and 7 where we used the screens from Brown to hunt the mismatch. That is what made us formidable until the end.

However, I agree with everything else you said. Nash is a garbage coach. The offense is clearly freelance. Defense was so so.

I think Marks needs to bite the bullet here and fix this.

Also, I hope you'll post more around here. We need you here OG.

Steve has been sitting on his hands in obvious coaching challenge situations all season, and then he attempted to challenge that Harris foul on Middleton in game 6. I was astounded. If Joe hasn't lobbied for him to withdraw the challenge, we would've wasted it. Nash just can't stop giving chances to shooters.

Steve Nash got out-adjusted by Mike Budenholzer.

There's a lot to digest in that statement, so let me break it down:

STEVE.

NASH.

GOT.

OUT-.

ADJUSTED.

BY.

MIKE.

BUDENHOLZER.

That's a d@mning statement right there. If it's not a fireable offense, we might as well get used to seeing him sandbag us for the next several seasons.

If we hired Ty Lue instead do we win this series?

I think probably yes.

With the injuries? I would say maybe. we were right there. Lue would have adjusted well before game 7

i think we win in 5. to me game 3 was our biggest coaching initiated loss of the year. if we win game 3, its over in 5. maybe 4 if they were defeated down 3-0.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
