But my head says it would be so much easier, more likely, to fall further back, behind Bulls, Cats, Pacers, Bucks and pick up draft position on them. It's not like a 1st round pasting at the hands of the Celtics will show us anything we didn't already know. It's becoming clear reaching the 7th seed is no longer in play.
Sad day for me as a Nets fan. :'-(
I know how you feel. This road trip has removed any homerish hopes of a playoff upset esp. Memphis loss and the uncompetitive Hornets / Mavericks game.
I'm still hoping for the playoffs though despite fully realizing how heartless and soft this team is.
Is there any team softer than the Nets...Krstic / Boone frontcourt is soft, RJ settles more and more, VC is too often soft, and Harris so far seems more of a VC type personality. Our tough guys are also our least talented guys on offense.
Like a previous post I would love to see Diop replace Boone in the starting lineup to see if he can add some 'grit' to our starting unit.
Atlanta is now the 8th seed with the Nets/Bulls/Hornets/Pacers/Bucks all one winning streak away from making the playoffs. It will be musical chairs until the end.
Even if the Nets don't make the playoffs I'd like to see more competition in them...more fight...and that has to start with VC. He's easily the most talented player on the roster but far too often he will let RJ & others take the lead. He's gotta put the team on his shoulders/ankles (like T-Mac is now) for the remainder of the season but even as a big fan I really don't think he has it in him either physically or mentally...hope he proves me wrong but I haven't seen much signs of change.
