74 ppg from our starters...if that happens, and if our bench is anything better than "useless", we should hit 100-105 ppg, easy.

Scola and Jennings, these guys are in the 80's or 90's.

Reke? Deep 100's, if not in the 200's.

Allen, I'd have right in the 100 to 115 range.

That's my point.

I have no beef where Wallace is ranked, right around 70, but I do have an enormous beef where the guys around him are ranked though.

It really has nothing to do with him, it has to do with the perception of the specific other guys we're talking about and comparing them to Wallace.

Wallace is probably ranked about perfectly. It's the others save Boozer who are a minimum of 20 spots too high each, some as much as literally one hundred and 40 spots too high.

I understand your category points...but in reality you are probably ranking all these guys too low. The NBA just isnt that deep.

I understand what you're saying, but with these specific guys I stick by that.

Tyreke Evans is a fantastic briefcase of suck.

Scola is still good but on the way down.

Jennings is an inefficient chucker at position where he's supposed to get others involved, not suck the life out of the offense and grind it to a halt. Even if he were a scoring point guard, he's not good at that either. He's a $hitty jump shooter. Pretty decent defense, little bit of passing skill. Nice handle, but doesn't like contact much and not a great finisher. Just a very average player at best.

I can easily rattle off 80 to 90 players better then the latter 2 and 150 better then the former.

I agree with your analysis of all three players. But you cant easily rank THAT many players better then them. You will do it if pushed...and you will force names in there not to admit that you are prone to wild exaggerations to support your original point.

Rankings are relevant to who is in the league not to how good the player is. That players like these could be in the top 60 or 70 is nauseating and that pushes you to make absolutely sure they arent.

An example of this type of exaggeration? Being as angry that we gave Blatche 896K non-guaranteed for a 14th slot on a roster that dresses 12. Its like you react to it as if we traded a lottery pick for Tyreke or Jennings. Had we given a lottery pick for Blatche I would have screamed along with you. But if Jenings or Tyrke had been amnestied and we gave one of them 896K non-guaranteed for a shot as the 14th man and hope one of them could do more...that would like Blatche be the definition of a good pick up.

All I am saying is...its not that I disagree with how you see the players. But the black and white exaggeration causes a lack of honest perspective.

Well you know I share that similarity with you of a hyperbolic posting style, I'll call it colorful.

But just to touch on a couple points...

1. Yes, to me Wallace is still very very much an elite defender and should be through year 3 of this deal even if he slows down and loses some athleticism, just like Marion was through at least their title run in Dallas and mainly last year as well.

2. Yes, the contract is definitely bad no matter how we slice it.

3. LMA sucks the life out of everyone else around him offensively? Huh? Explain please.

I wont be surprised if Crash can still be a great contributor if used correctly in his new environment. Just saying...I was SHOCKED watching him last season. He had moments where he was still himself...but far too many minutes that he expelled little to no energy. If we got that player...the contract is a disaster. I think if he has the legs still and is involved offensively...he will apply himself and be the enigma we love.

LMA has become a much better player than he was in the days you severely overrated him. That and a weak crop of NBA bigs he is one of the harder to guard bigs in the league. Good midrange shot..has some nice moves. But the good you always saw...I see more of now...so tip of the hat for that much. Sorry if that came off like a left handed compliment to you or him...but here is why....

Team wise...ball movement dies in half court sets built around him. His awareness of others around him his ability to see plays developing, defenses reacting to him...leaves a lot to be desired. And he has trouble asserting himself when the ball ISNT running through him. There was a stretch last year that Batum made that offensive very interesting to watch and it was when the ball stopped running through LMA on every possession. And he let it be known he hated it. Results be damned. They went back to giving the ball to him most of the time and everyone went back to standing around like spectators.

Crash, Batum, Matthews, Crawford...these guys would look utterly lost on the court. Not saying those guys are studs. He is clearly their best player. I just found the offense incredibly stagnant. Very self contained scoring rather than good flowing offense.

I feel like he is the kind of player who needs to be with an elite scoring PG that can also pass. A team where he is the #2 guy rather than its go to guy. I dont think he makes other better so better complimentary players wont excel more than mediocre ones. He is miscast in the role of go to star player IMO. Capable of all star numbers? Yes Is he superstar good? I say no. Doesnt make others better or help capitalize on the opportunities his own scoring creates throughout the game.

Now for me the Crash concerns are rolled into what I saw with LMA last season. And at the very least I an being cautiously optimistic. Was he lost in a system built to LMA's strengths..where the weakness of LMA hurt Crash so much that it explains why he looked like Ron Artest the dying years or a washed up Spreewell...or any other hustle type game changing guy content to chuck up an open shot once in a while and go for a jog in between holding his shorts and resting for 15 seconds? Or was the version of Crash I saw last year a result of age and decline like it was for these other two examples?

Was it system? Decline? A combination of both? That's what I am waiting to see. Hard for me to get into these extreme best case scenarios of what we could be based on the names we have on paper. I can see many questions that need to be answered first...starting with him. And make no mistake...I LOVED the old him. You know that. I always wanted him on this team. But I want the Charlotte version. Not they guy I saw last year. The guy I saw last year would be overpaid at 5mil for year ONE of this contract.

vincecarter4pres wrote:Well, I think him not playing well in Portland was greatly exaggerated, especially his first year there and when their 2nd best player excluding Wallace played the same position as him with a somewhat similar style, it was going to be hard to maximize the impact of him or Batum.

Well, did you watch last year? He settled for shots constantly. If he wasnt dunking in transition off a steal...he was content to settle for a shot here and there and otherwise just camp out in 3 point land...no motion. Hands on the shorts. If he did get the ball...he gave it right back most of the time. He looked BAD. That's not an exaggeration...it was multiple games of me watching and yelling at the TV in disbelief at how he was playing.

His lift also looked diminished so I wonder if he can get as many blocks as he once did. You said 1 per game? The guy I watched in Portland last year...before those 17 games he played here...I would predict closer to 0.5 blocks per game than 1.0 per game.

He just wasnt the same guy. And I sounded just like you defending to someone I know who was telling me what he was seeing. So I made a point of watching several games to see it for myself.

He just looked awful. I am really hoping that new team...new system he has legs left to do what he is capable of. If so...great. If not? He will quickly become enemy #1 around here.

i sort of agree with you re wallace, i remember in the game threads after the wallace trade, i couldn't help but point out that he was getting beat off the dribble more than I would've thought. but, baring injury, there's pretty much no chance for some insane decline or him being anything other than a fan favorite. we pretty much know what were getting from him. great effort, 12 PPG, 7 RPG, 2 APG on solid efficiency and good defense. for me the questions are can he stay healthy, and just how good will that defense will be? is he just a solid wing defender and a good defensive rebounder now? or can he get back to something resembling charlotte form, where he was an absurdly impactful player on that end? 12 and 7 with that D is an all-star caliber player... that guy with solid defense is a legit but overpaid starter.

LMAO, and these are the players that are ranked over Brook Lopez, in the top 50:

-Ryan Anderson ( :o )
-Greg Monroe
-DeMarcus Cousins
-Serge Ibaka

This is frikin ridiculous. Ryan frikin Anderson, really?

Greg Monroe and DeMarcus Cousins are even worse defensively than Lopez, while not even being close to him as an offensive player. DeMarcus Cousins especially is a trash offensive player.

Serge Ibaka isn't useless defensively, but he's so damn overrated. I don't think he's really any more than average defensively, if that. He's a poor PnR defender, mediocre rebounder, and very undisciplined (jumps for EVERYTHING). And, again, he isn't close to Lopez offensively.

I kind of expected Lopez to be stupidly underrated and to be ranked behind guys he's clearly better than...but Ryan Anderson??? Really?

I saw those on ND. Pretty sick.

However, look at the 3rd picture and see how the rust on the left is a different color than the other sides. It bothers me.

This isn't just a camera trick. Some areas are lighter than others, since I guess the oxidation process worked better (or worse depending on your opinion) for some sides than others.

State of the art...from architectural design to pure function and technology, this place is going to be insane...Though I agree the color being off is strange unless they wanted the front to stand out w/ the black background and blue Barclays marquee on top...I dunno, I would of rather they kept it continuous all around (and I read about rust/material used), very strange...

I've seen you say this more than a couple of times...I actually really like them a lot...reminds of Tyson coming out in the black trunks...Rough, Rugged and hardcore...Brooklyn!...the logo is very throw-back like, a nice little Dodger flare to tie together Brooklyn's sports roots...

What colors were you hoping for?

The shorts are fine. I dont mind the short. But the Jerseys? I cant think of any other way to say it...they look like High School Uniforms.

And he Dodger B has flair to it. A thin outlined 2D shield with a plain B on it? I dont think there is a less imaginative logo out there. I should also say...I feel throwback should be a promo...not something you aspire to be in on a regular basis. I like flair. I like a modern look to stitching, fabric, etc. I like it when jerseys pop.

I was already disappointed with the plain color scheme...but I was hoping they would have at least taken one of those more modern version we saw. Some hated the half black/half white ones that matched the banners. I liked those better. They were at least a more modern look. I even liked that mock up black and white version of the Magic uniforms someone put Dwight in. Those had flair too.

I just hope in a year or so when these become pointless...the second phase is to see alternates with plenty of other color options. That's the only true advantage to keeping them so plain. Literally anything you add will be noticeable. I feel like the font, the lines, the logo were drawn on a napkin and someone said OK. I think there is a HS in the boroughs that has something like that. We'll have a box of them for you tomorrow.

I know some do not agree. But hey...there is no right or wrong here. You like it...you dont like it....it is what it is. People will repeat themselves over and over on both sides of this conversation. Its September. What the hell else is there to talk about?!!!!
