I honestly don't have an issue with the original phoenix offer if all else fails - Ayton, Bridges, Cam, all the picks. It works on this trade machine and gets the nets under the apron (https://i.ibb.co/7yRDk6Z/fanspo-nba-trade-machine-snap-7-6-2022-12-44-16-PM.png). 1 or 2 picks go to IND in this deal since they take Westbrook.
Marks has filled the roster up enough that the hard cap doesn't even really matter if they can get under it, unless there's some big negative i'm missing. Even if they lose an exception who cares? Without KD they wouldn't be 1 piece away and if ever there's a year to not care it's this one since they are likely going to keep their own draft pick.
Simmons / Patty / Sumner
Curry / Warren
O'Neale / Harris / Edwards
Bridges / Johnson
Ayton / Claxton / Sharpe
everyone around Simmons can hit a shot. the 2nd unit is legit. Patty, Warren, Harris, Johnson, Claxton is a legitimate 5.
hire a real head coach and let's go.
Johnson would start over Oneale.
But I would start both. Mikal can play the two.
Start Simmons/Bridges/Cam/O’Neal/Ayton
That is a scary defense.
With that said, I don’t see phx giving both Cam and Mikal. Maybe both if they send less picks.
I figured Johnson is already really good in the 6th man spot, may as well spread some offense to the second unit.
O'Neal doesn't add much offense to the 2nd unit so I think he's a guy you throw at the other teams best guard and let him go 110% to start the game. Just let him be a mini PJ Tucker nobody wants to play against.
Curry would be their best shot creator so I think he stands to see the biggest usage increase once KD/Kyrie are out the door so he's staying in the starting unit for me with Harris/Patty bringing the shooting off the bench with Cam. I'd let Phoenix keep a pick or a swap to get Cam in the deal. Whatever KD deal the nets do they will need to have some appealing pieces for some kind of future deal and he's one.
