If the stars align we may be able to draft OG Anunoby at 22nd.
Then we pick a big at 27th. (Jarret Allen or Justin Patton or Bam Adebayo or Harry Giles)

We strikeout during free agency with only getting Mike Muscala (Atkinson connection and wants to start) who can fill out either remaining interior spot. JJ Redick, Paul Millsap, Patty Mills and everyone will be ring chasing.

Without Lopez:

Jeremy Lin / Spencer Dinwiddie
Caris LeVert / Archie Goodwin
OG Anunoby / Joe Harris
Mike Muscala / Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
Jarret Allen / ???

With Lopez:

Jeremy Lin / Spencer Dinwiddie
Caris LeVert / Archie Goodwin
Joe Harris / OG Anunoby
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson / Mike Muscala
Brook Lopez / Jarret Allen

wheres kj mcdaniels and sean kilpatrick? is og a good shooter/offensive player? is he dropping to 22?

OG has a few seasons before he can develop into a halfway decent offensive player.

I'd be shocked if he was there at 22.

Some contract estimates by Steve Kyler:

JJ Redick:

PJ Tucker:

To be honest, the increasing MLE was not on my radar until I saw his tweets. Definitely an issue for a team like the Nets when capped-out playoff teams are able to offer up to 8 M per year (24/3).

One thing to keep in mind is that the MLE can only be used to sign free agents. Unlike free cap space, MLEs can't be used to facilitate trades or eat salary dumps. So the utility aspect of the Nets free cap space remains. The more bad contacts that get signed with an inflated MLE, the more valuable the Nets cap space becomes if Marks wants to go in that direction.

I'd like to throw a max at Porter, which will undoubtedly get matched. Afterwards, I think we'll need to figure out who next year's Foye/Scola mentor types will be. Because it seems like even rotational players will be overly expensive and require multi-year commitments.

But I think having one expensive contract if it means a better player than Foye starting at guard would be okay. Reddick would be fine, or George Hill (most likely not coming here) on above average but not max.

Otherwise, no need to go out and spend more than the minimum on players 9-15 on most NBA teams given that we already have a team full of them.

Porter benefited greatly from playing with John Wall. Especially given it doesn't appear her can generate his own offense. Best case scenario for him might be Batum, which is an upgrade for the Nets but it alone doesn't make me much more excited to watch games.

Now Porter + some athletic draft picks like Mitchell & Diallo + some Euro FA could potentially make the team a lot more interesting. It probably wouldn't immediately payoff next season (maybe ~25 win ceiling) but I don't see any other path to the Nets getting better over the long term.

I think barring injury we are a lock to win 30 games at bare minimum, and this does not factor in roster improvements this summer.

I'd be willing to let McDaniels go based on my unfamiliarity of next seasons roster capacity and who can or can't be sent to DL without losing them.

Don't forget about Nicholson, we can't let him go without penalty unless via trade.

I'm still not convinced it definitely gets matched.

ESPN ran an article about how Porter's play in the playoffs would determine if he was worth a max deal.

The Wizards have no bench and would have to give up all possible cap space if they sign Porter to a max. I'm not sure that they will want to do that.

Nicholson makes just over $6mil/year, which is peanuts in this cap era.

I've never wanted to throw a max at him because I don't think he's worth it and I don't want his contract to limit our cap flexibility when we actually have our picks back and (hopefully) should be a much better team. That's when we can start signing legit allstars to that type of big contracts. Not for a 3rd option who has struggled ever since Bogs showed up and doesn't look anything close to a guy who should be taking up more than 1/5 of your cap space.

Hmm, i know people here are prolly down on Dwight Howard due to his stupidity in accepting his option in ORL and in not forcing his way to BRK to play with DWill, but with him whining like a bitch in ATL, maybe swing a deal to grab him and his remaining 2 years?

ATL trades
DHo

BRK trades
BroLo
SKill
IW? or BOS pick

ATL gets out of DHo's deal earlier and get rid of the locker room headache. They get back a shooter who can stretch the floor for their motion offense, as well as additional cheap wing help to bolster scoring. They do lose defense and rebounding though, but depending on DHo's antics they might just want him gone.

BRK gets a prima donna headcase but he brings to the table everything BRK needs on the defensive end and some elite PnR rim running (assuming DHo gets it through his head he's not a post player). Also he's not on a deal for a crapton of years so even if he flops, meh, just an extra year of salary.

Also still leaves enough money to sign Otto Porter if one so desires.

C - DHo, Acy, JHam
PF- RHJ, Booker
SF- Porter, Harris
SG- Levert, IW?, KJ, Goodwin
PG- Lin, Dim

Needs more shooting at the 4. Add in draft picks and the roster is up to 15. Would focus on bigs in the upcoming draft.

I can understand that.

I guess I'm more high on Porter. I think he has all-star potential.
