BTW Indiana will be able offer Ayton a contract Saturday. If he's going to be involved in the deal, this needs to happen soon.

probably not true on this opinion, but I think this is getting stalled or more flack is due to this stupid rule about not adding players on rookie max deals on the same team from trades....

imagine if that didn't exist, the KD/KY train would be near a full stop by now.

If you guys do trade kd to PHX would you want Cam johnson, miles bridges and picks or maxed out ayton + cam johnson ? i dont think booker is on the table at all so.

As far as the heat would you want Herro,+Lowry plus picks if it gets to point hes unwilling to play the nets? Seems like a 3rd has to get involved if a deal gets done between these two teams.

** There's a difference between requesting a trade and demanding a trade. Donovan doesn't reach potential free agency for 3 years, so he doesn't have enough leverage to demand a trade and steer his destination. His agency CAA can say, "Donovan would like a trade and prefers Miami and New York as destinations," but they can't push it too hard. Ainge isn't the type of guy who will just bend over backwards to accommodate Donovan. Jazz will say, "We'll try to accommodate your request, but it has to make sense for our franchise." So both the Jazz and Mitchell will stand pat for now.

** In order for Mitchell to be traded to BRK, Simmons would need to be moved to another team. Per Jake Fischer, the market for Simmons is very soft right now. He has very little trade value at the moment. Maybe the Lakers are in a position to trade for Simmons, but it would be another one of those Westbrook-and-picks scenarios.

** Another problem with Mitchell to BRK in a KD trade is that BRK is going to try to take all the value imaginable in that trade, and that doesn't leave enough to compensate the Jazz for Mitchell. The Jazz are going to want to maximize their return for Mitchell and would take a big bite out of the trade package from PHX--e.g., Bridges, two picks and a swap. Jazz are going to charge full retail for a 25 y.o. All Star with 3 years left on his current deal.

Personally, I'd want Ayton and Mikal with picks, but it appears Marks isn't interested in Ayton, at least at max money. Mikal is obviously the most desired asset that Phoenix can offer.

No interest in Lowry, who is a salary dump, or Herro, who will be looking for a big pay day.

Thing is here with that, social media didn’t exist to the level it does. I remember very well when Kobe was almost dealt to the Clippers, Mavs or Bulls. I think Sacramento also put in an offer.

Duncan to Orlando was also a considered “done deal” by ESPN at the time. Similar to how it was a done deal they were selecting Jabari Smith lol

Those situations would’ve turned differently if it was today. Social media and yellow journalists definitely impact these type of stories today.

So they were saying that the Nets would never entertain the idea of trading KD to the Knicks on the radio, which is 100% accurate, but it got me thinking whether there is a godfather offer that Manhattan could make to actually get Marks to bite. Barrett+Fournier+Quickley/Toppin+4 unprotected NYK 1sts+swaps+a couple non-Knick 1sts. It's the Knicks, so they'll still suck. Loading up on their picks is intriguing.

Hearing murmurs of Irving getting an extension and KD walking back from his trade request....would be such a Nets ending to this but one I would be here for haha

I can live with Simmons / Irving / KD for the next 3 or 4 years rather than the alternative of whoever the heck KD would bring back in a trade. Time will tell I guess.

Ding ding. The KD trade request was never a real request. It was just a Kyrie thing to do and show the world he has KD on the bitch leash

I'd wait it out personally. We have a solid roster on paper so if by December 15th it's still not working, maybe more options will be available

Absolutely not. I'd rather keep Simmons than let Utah suck all the value out of the deal.

If Simmons returns healthy and puts up his career averages, he'll have a ton of value by the trade deadline. The Nets will be built around him. He should put up really gaudy stats, probably surpassing career averages.

I think a trade like this is honestly worst case scenario. It's basically selling low on all 3 of our guys.

I know you're just spitballing but only getting 2 extra first round picks isn't nearly enough.

i think ainge will tell him chill out, enjoy asg in utah, ill trade you next summer if you want to 1 of the NY teams.

if nets get all the pho picks that will be a carmelo-esque bidding war and nets will have simmons to build a package around, knicks will have barrett.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
