I don't see Wallace as a perfect fit for Memphis, because playing him with Tony Allen for big minutes would be impossible on the offensive end (as good as it might be for defense).Paradise wrote:N Ireland Nets wrote:In a dream scenario we give Lopez for Howard straight.
Then as soon as that phone call ended I'd be ringing Memphis to trade Wallace & filler for Gay which would take Memphis below the lux tax, just like they want to be.
Williams
Johnson
Gay
Blatche or Tele
Howard
Phil Jackson would be head coach before the Howard press conference time & venue was decided.
Gay for Wallace could actually be realistic for Memphis. Wallace would be the perfect fit but I have no idea who will see the ball between Deron, Johnson and Gay though.

Oh, but that's where MarShon Bryant comes in!

Re: Trade Targets
So this guy Milton Lee is apparently an or the assistant GM for the Nets. He's also the GM for our D League team. He's being interviewed on NBATV and they start asking him about what they look for in a player to bring up to the NBA and he starts going into, well it's also how we keep up with NBA prospects who were drafted who we haven't been able to see much in the NBA to see how they still are and how they're progressing. He then mentions specifically, Nolan Smith and Will Barton and segues into, and if these guys wind up a toss in to a trade....
Maybe I'm reading way into this, but Smith and Barton both play for the Blazers. Just struck me as a bit odd he mentions those two guys right in a row and then immediately goes onto to how guys like this can wind up acquired as throw ins to a bigger trade.
Just figured I'd mention this more so, so I don't forget, just so if anything happens can go back and look at this.

A bit of a reach, guy. Unless the bigger deal is getting JJ Hickson, that's about the only thing the Nets can get.

BTW, knowing how valuable that top 3 protected pick we traded for Wallace was...say King was going to be stupid and throw that pick away regardless...should he have gone after Iguodala instead? Iggy, at this point, is a better defender and a much better floor spacer than Wallace. He was used as one of the main pieces to get Bynum to Philly, but would they have said no to a top 3 protected 1st rounder for Iggy in a straight up deal?

I'd love to get Hayward, I think he's a great player
Agreed. Still don't know what Utah is trying to do.

Re: Trade Targets
Apparently, we are interested in Samardo Samuels or Donte Green for the 15th spot. I wonder if Billy adds another Forward, does that mean anything trade wise because there already is an emerging logjam with Humphries, Teletovic, Evans, Blatche sharing minutes.
Samuels is a bit of a scrub but he for whatever reason plays like Taj Gibson against teams like the Knicks and Heat.

Yes we've questioned this before, matter of fact almost immediately after the trade went down.

I wouldn't read too much into it. A team with this kind of monetary backing is unlikely to have empty roster spots midseason for any length of time cause we'll instantly cut someone we just signed if needed to make room for a trade anyway.
On the other hand, I don't think you even need to read into it. It's pretty obvious at this point Billy King and Bobby Marks are looking to be active. They are going to try and make a Hail Mary trade or two to save their jobs. I hope and imagine they will have to be signed off on by ownership and that they are a little warier these days so they don't approve anything awful, but as where before I felt there was a high chance we only made a small tweak and waited for draft night I now fully feel the Killer B's will make the biggest sloppiest move they can stumble upon which ownership allows them.

Re: Trade Targets
Phoenix in talks with Memphis to get Gay.
My money would be Dudley/Beasley/1st round pick or 2
As the article says, Memphis has had talks with a number of teams. It more so makes it that Memphis is shopping Gay hard, almost forcing them down their throats. Phoenix better demand protection.

Don't see why they'd give up on JJ cause he's good and expiring but I'd take him.

Re: Trade Targets
Hickson isn't going to accept a trade anywhere in all likelihood, then he loses his Bird Rights.

Ronito wrote:People are still high on Rudy Gay?
I don't think people are high on him.
They're just looking past the contract and seeing whether his skill level would actually improve us.
IMO, Crash's health is a big concern cuz he's plays so reckless. At the same time, Rudy's contract is almost on par with JJ's kinda ridic "talent-per-$' level contract.
I think the hope would be that Rudy would flourish more as a 3rd option than as he's doing as a 2nd option in MEM.
At the end of Rudy's contract, he'll be 28 turning 29. (Expires in 2015)
Crash will be 33 turning 34. (Expires in 2016)
Rudy still has time to enter in a prime, but we're seeing Crash on his decline.
If Crash loses his athleticism at a steady pace pretty soon, his defense (which we got him for) and contract will get increasingly worse for this team.

I would be ok with Crash for Gay. But honestly I love the way he's been playing for us. And I'm not even sure if their salaries match up (too lazy to check).

Wasn't he taken off of amnesty waivers? He can't be on a new team until the end of the season.

Re: Trade Targets
^^Not 'til next season. Players that are claimed from waivers after being amnestied aren't allowed to be traded until a year after said player was amnestied.
I want VC. Dallas is 9 games under .500 and should be thinking about gathering up assets. Too bad our contracts range from too big to too small to make a 1 for 1 trade.
