I think it's also on Claxton who seems like a black hole offensively to me. Whenever he catches the ball in the post, he tries to score, when he should often be kicking out. He's way too overconfident in his abilities which is both good and bad.NyCeEvO wrote:DarkXaero wrote:Claxton has been **** dreadful.
Not to completely excuse him, but I don’t know why we’re all of the sudden treating him as if he’s a post player. When have we ever looked to him as a dependable offensive option?

Throw in DJ, **** it Nash!!
I mean…the only thing Tristan is good at is offensive rebounding. If you don’t actively box him out, he will abuse you on the offensive boards. It’s not surprising considering that we have no big man to match his physical profile.

While I haven’t been paying attention to what he’s communicating before his post ups, I doubt he’s calling for them.
Plus, Kyrie and KD are deferring to him. After his first post up, they should’ve known that they were better options on the offensive end.

We need to do a better job of closing out to shooters.

At least when Kyrie was passing it to him it was when he was being doubled. Clax should have been cutting to the basket more aggressively on those passes though. He was just kind of standing around waiting for Kyrie to pass it him out of the double.

Team really misses Jeff Green. Didn't think I'd be saying that at the start of the season.

I’m not disagreeing that he can’t do better. What I am saying though is that my expectations for young players in their first playoff road game is quite low.
As I mentioned in Game 2, role players tend to struggle on the road, especially young guys. I totally expected Game 3 to be like this.
We’re also not doing him any favors by prioritizing him like he’s a primary post option. We didn’t use him like that in the regular season, so why would we expect him do this in the playoffs?

It almost feels unfair to have KD on your team

This has little to do with missing Green.
We’re allowing a depleted Celtic team to score 60+ points in a half. That’s terrible defense. They’re not even doing anything special on offense. They’re just advancing the ball quickly and forcing their way into the paint; when we collapse, they pass it out to the open man.
We need to play harder. If we were playing a better team, we’d be down by 15+. The game is still there to be taken. I want to see this team come out and fight for it.

If that's their best punch, we took it well. I need Kyrie to come out in attack mode in Q3

That was a garbage 1st half but only down 4. I actually feel good even though I'm pissed by the effort level.

The 2nd quarter was terrible. We’ve got alot to clean up defensively trying to control their shot making. We’re too soft guarding the line.

It has to do a lot with Green. I know you don't like him, but he's a crucial piece of this team, and the way we play.NyCeEvO wrote:3pt_chucker wrote:Team really misses Jeff Green. Didn't think I'd be saying that at the start of the season.

Oh, no. I definitely agree with what your are saying. Honestly I would have liked to have seen Nash call a timeout after the second possession Claxton got a post opportunity to correct that. He took 5 shots and 4 came in the post and just 1 came off of his more typical rim running.
