Thorn does it again. I honestly think this is the best realistic deal we could have made for Kidd. VC is probably next.

Any Nets fan who complains is out of his mind.

Now as for Vince Carter, I suggest dealing him as soon as possible for practically nothing except expirings and a pick or two.

I really think Orlando would be interested.

That way in free agency, the Nets will only have 41-43m or so commited. With that you can possibly attract either a big man or simply a new shooting guard. Igoudala is a strong possibility, but might not be the greatest fit next to Jefferson.

The only good thing to come out of this is some cap room next year and the fact that Malik leaving will clear up minutes for sean and stro.

It's so sad that players get delusional and think that by demanding a trade will fix everything.
here are some key points I feel need to be made
1) JKIDD WILL NOT win a title in dallas! (next year who knows but I doubt it)
2) What happens to the allstar game now? (ok thats a question not a point)
3) The Nets management was wrong to give in to JKIDD

I wanna say that I love JKIDD always have and probably al;ways will. The problem is that i believe he quit on this team. Not on his teamates but on management. He wanted Frank remember? Thorn has done everything possible to keep kidd happy. Remember the ZO signing? JKIDD will be a terrible GM. Having said that JKIDD will make Dallas better but Championship contenders? C'mon! He will not get a night off in the WC.
The Nets do get the better of this deal IMHO.

BUT!

When will a team turn around and say to player sorry but we own you for the next two years, you are staying here, play or sit your choice. GSW did it years ago by refusing to trade Spree. It took Spree to take the issue into his own hands (so to speak) before the gave in.
I know its a players league but who cuts the cheque? The owners thats who.
I feel the nets should of waited until the summer. Curly is comin back, VC looks to have his groove back ( if he is not showcasing himself for a new team that is ) The sad thing is we never saw this team 100% healthy. I think that will always eat at me. Having said that Harris and the rest of the team healthy could be very interesting.

As you can tell i have mixed emotions on this trade. I think we should keep VC until the summer see what this squad can do together

CHEERS!!!

GO NETS!!!

I'm a Mavs fan that is so frustrated by this trade, but I wanted to come over to give you guys some good news. You have Devean George. He's entirely overlooked and is one of the best defenders in the league, when healthy. If given the chance to start, he will produce and can hit clutch 3's and big defensive stops in the final minutes.

Just wanted to put in a good word for one of my favorite maverick players who fell by the wayside last year after his knee injury.

Harris will be a beast for us and I think it's a must to keep VC in town he makes a lot of our guys better and he's still one of the better SG's in the league even with his slow start he's putting up 20.7ppg 5.6rebs 5.1 ast a game why would you want to trade a player that won't hurt our young guys and he's still able to produce and creat for him self and others. If he does not want to be traded it would be dumb for the nets to trade VC for garbage like J Oneal if we don't get value that we can't turn down no reason to trade VC I would rather trade RJ if this core does not work out and I don't think that will happen.

Assuming Stackhouse is bought out, will this be our lineup (when healthy)?

Krstic/Diop/Magloire
Williams/Boone/Swift
Jefferson/Nachbar/George
Carter/Ager
Harris/Williams/Armstrong

I'm curious as to how Frank is going to handle getting Krstic/Diop/Williams/Boone/Swift minutes.

Kidd probably won't win a ring with Dallas, but they are contenders, which the Nets are not, even 100% healthy. The only reason why Cuban is willing to part with so much for Kidd is because they are contending right now. It puts the onus on Kidd to produce to keep pace with Lakers and Suns, and all the other ring contenders out west.

Of course management won't sit Kidd just because he asked for trade consideration to a contender -- like a non-contender (other than the Knicks) would even want Kidd and his contract. Kidd's been asking out for 2 seasons already. Kidd still plays every game and produces wins on the floor. Most importantly, he wins playoff series (in the East at least).

Waiting for summer, the Nets won't get offered anything better. Right now the Western teams are in an unprecedented playoff royal rumble, where any number of teams believe this is the best chance they have had in a long time. By summer Kidd will be a 1 season rental, and anything could happen. Kidd could get hurt, or play terrible. Harris could play great. Right now, Kidd as a trading piece has value in this season's WC playoffs + a season as a $20 mil expiring contract.

It is simply going to be ridiculous in the playoffs.

To think Houston (well that part is not that strange  ), the Jazz who everyone has forgotten about, the Spurs, the Mavs, the Suns, and the Hornets are all good enough to take the WCF finals crown and then face Boston in an epic title game.

This year, the playoffs will be the best they have ever been since the early 90s. It is going to be THAT good...

yeah I don't get the destroy & rebuild guys...there's been alot of teams rebuilding for a very long time....the best mgmt teams tinker w/ the puzzle. The losers blow it up year in year out hoping for the miracle player, etc.

It is a tricky situation since the trade deadline is fast approaching so there's really not enough time to evaluate if this new roster will do well so Thorn probably has his mind made up one way or the other already what he wants to do.

I also think this is a great opportunity for RJ. More than Kidd/VC he is the one that's shown natural leadership. More than ever this is his team (with VC) and I think RJ will do well in the role (uhm new news not withstanding...cough).

Great job by VandeThorn. This team is in the same place they were in yesterday, an elite big man away from competing for an NBA title. The only difference is now we have a lot more pieces to hopefully sign or trade for said big man.

Very exciting day for the Nets from my POV because now we have hope. In a horrible eastern conference, we weren't a winning team with Kidd. Short of going after Shaq or some other very temporary fix that wasn't going to change. Now we have a very good 24 year old PG, a very good 27 year old SF, 4-5 interesting pieces (Marcus, SWAT, Boone, Diop, Kristic), 2 extra 1st round picks, and a star SG.

Going forward If I were VandeThorn I would shop VC but I wouldn't give him away for nothing. I think he actually fits the mix of this team a lot better without Kidd because of his passing ability. With Kidd it wasn't utilized much but now with more of a catch and shoot PG he should be better off. Like I said if a good offer came around I wouldn't hesitate to try and get more cap space or young bodies to make a push for a guy like Elton Brand or Beasley this summer. All in all a good day for the Nets. We turned the page on the Kidd era, which was for all intents and purposes over a year and a half ago anyway.
