Re: All Things "Brooklyn Nets" Thread
I didn't know where else to post this, but watching the Nets preseason games I couldn't help but think we're going to have a lot of open looks from 3.
Here's what our 3 starting perimeter players shot on spot up 3-point attempts last season:
Joe Johnson: 37% | Deron Williams: 42% | Paul Pierce: 41%.
For what it's worth, KG shot 52% on spot up shots (excluding his 1-for-10 from 3).

Looks like many haters on the GB are in the preseason form.
Can't wait to see what it's like during the regular season!

He kicks his feet on many of shots that are categorized as spot up shots as well.

In those 42 games [against playoff teams], the Nets rebounded fine and kept their opponents off the free throw line, but they didn’t force many turnovers and their shooting defense was pretty terrible, with their opponents registering an effective field goal percentage of 52.7 percent.
In particular, they didn’t defend the 3-point line well, allowing their playoff opponents to shoot 39.6 percent from beyond the arc. Overall, Brooklyn ranked 21st in 3-point defense at 36.6 percent. With 3-point shooting becoming a bigger part of successful offenses every season, preventing and contesting threes become more important for defenses.

i was wondering since the nets traded for those two grandpas from boston. How in the heck does everybody love the nets and hate on the knicks. Even last year everybody was sayin the nets are better than the knicks.
didnt they (the GM'S) see that the nets got ripped by nate robinson plus kg and pierce are defeated by father time? I dont know maybe im too biasd, but really i dont think lopez and kg are a better frontcourt than chandler and bargs. They have potentially more scoring with lopez/kg but defensively.. idk
we clearly have the best player on our team and our sg and pg depth kills the nets quality i think. The nets will be a tough smashmouth team, but really the only two high level basketball palyers right now are dwill and lopez.. and to be honest, deron williams and lopez are not THAT great not even on carmelos level
i really dont see the nets above my beloved knickerbockers!! we upgraded too, everybody seems to forget/overlook
LOLz at chandler/bargs being better then bropez/KG defensively. or anywhere close to being better overall

NBA League Pass owners should receive an email whenever Bargs, Melo and Amare are on the court at the same time.

Of the 17 made 3 point attempts against the Heat, I counted...
Catch & shoot: 11
*Wide* open: 5
A better exercise would be to see the attempts, but they don't release preseason shot charts (I don't think?) and I didn't watch the game.

Re: All Things "Brooklyn Nets" Thread
The more I think about it, there's no way in hell D-Will has a shot at MVP.
First of all, if he's healthy and can play like he did in those 10 minutes last night, there's no way he's not going to have a monster year. He's got a stacked team around him and he's too good 1 on 1.
But that'll be the narrative that works against him. Even if he has a big year and the Nets play really well and win 55ish games...the criticism will be that he plays on a stacked team, and that someone like Derrick Rose (the Bulls are going to win 55ish games as well) plays with no one, and thus, he should win MVP. Or LeBron is the best player in the game, and so he should win MVP.

Derrick Rose will win MVP. The narrative is too easy to see. The "good guy"; top player returns to team; top seed; similar numbers to when he won MVP (even though he shouldn't have that year). The media loves him.

Which is kind of why if we don't get the top seed, I'd want Miami to. At least then, LeBron would have a chance to win MVP over Rose.
Not that I hate Rose, but the guy isn't close to LeBron, and it would just feel wrong if anyone else wins.

Ric Bucher said the other day (again) that he'd still take Rose over LeBron. How does anyone say that without giggling like a school girl?

Ah, Ric Bucher. The guy is still living off his reputation when he called the 04 Pistons to win the championship...other than that, he's just so...dumb.
LeBron is a 2x champion and a 4x MVP, and he's going to end up as one of the 5 best players of all time, if he's not there already...in what universe is there an argument for taking Rose over LeBron?

Re: All Things "Brooklyn Nets" Thread
I know some of this stuff is funny but do we really need to talk about the Knicks in our Brooklyn Nets thread? I feel like this is one thread where we can and should really focus on us as a basketball team and not talk about them.
I know it's fun to make jokes about them but it seems like they get mentioned in most threads. It kinda perpetuates the idea that the Nets fans have an inferiority complex, which we shouldn't have.
