As a Dallas fan I will say that post is not entirely true . By playing in Dallas Deron will still have to pay taxes on 33 road games which is about $600 K per year .

As for endorsements and being the face of Brooklyn.

1- Dirk did say at exit interviews that he would be more than happy to turn the keys over to another superstar. So I think Hometown kid in a costarring role as the face of the franchise will draw more than enough media attention. Like in every sport saying this and that doesnt mean much

2.If Deron stays and gets another Superstar ( Howard ) then how is he the face of the franchise? He's not he's competiing with another superstar for attention just like in Dallas but in Dallas does Dirk let him have all the attention .. Probably . Can you say the same thing for Howard ? Doubtful. He would easily be the face of the franchise seeing how he was here before Howard. I don't see anyone putting Howard over Deron.

3. Endorsements - who in Dallas will Deron have to compete with for Endorsements? No one ! Who will Deron have to compete with in endorsements in New York ? Carmelo , Linsanity and possibly Howard . So I'm not so sure that the endorsement opportunities will be that much larger in NY over Dallas.Deron has already gotten 3 big endorsements since joining the Nets(Metro Pcs,Red Bull, and Bonobos. Moving to Brooklyn I don't see why he would't get more

The way I see it sure there are some more opportunities available in NY but I don't think that it will be that much more than Hometown Olympian Costarring Face of the franchise in Dallas.

I will see they this if you get a top 3 pick you most likely keep Deron .

No hard Feelings and may the Best Franchise Win ( Dallas) !

Look I understand half of Mavericks nation is hoping for Deron but I don't see how some can be convinced it's a done deal when it's been all speculation for Dallas while Deron has been quiet about Dallas and being positive about Brooklyn. If Dirk said this and that and people are going to stick to that then they should also stick to Deron being positive on what he says about Brooklyn.

NetSymptom wrote:Why did that pick and pop work to perfection? Oh yeah, you had a guy like Tyson Chandler on the block. Weakside help couldn't leave him because he'd just get an alley oop or quick pass down low if the weakside help defender cheating on the pick and pop at the top of the key. You also had guys like Terry and Kidd out on the wings that could knock down 3s to keep the D honest. How's that going to work when you have DWill/Dirk and no one else out there to keep the D at home. Weakside defense is going to come a lot quicker and harder when they know they're just leaving a journeyman Center near the basket.

Same goes for pick&roll. You can just switch or go over the screen, because there is always going to be weakside help coming. You won't have the outside or 3point presence around to keep the defenders from cheating on the play.

Both players are good enough to make it work enough in the game, but just the two of them running it all day isn't going to get you very far in playoff basketball when teams are honed in on the two and making the supporting cast beat you.

NBA game is all about spacing, so don't look at it just as Barea/Dirk. You have to take into account all 5 players on offense making the play work.

This is all true, but it's not like Dirk was struggling before Chandler and Barea showed up. He's always been a great roll man, that's a very huge part of his offense. That's how he makes synergy with guys like Terry (and Nash before). Dirk is also great playing off the ball and coming off of screens, so he can be effective even while Deron is dominating the ball.

You do have a point because he is a big isolation scorer like Melo, but he's never had the problem of disrupting his team's offense because he's so good at taking his shots in the flow of the offense. I think there's great potential for Dirk + Deron to make each other better. It might not be perfect, but there's really no way to combine two high usage players without one losing a little production.

Billy King and Deron Williams are both in Istanbul together. Is that a beach in Dallas or what?

So Williams just happens to be in the same hotel in Istanbul at the same time as King....... right, ok.... yeh he's looking more and more like he is resigning for Brooklyn.

Everything seems to be pointing to Brooklyn, I hope it works out like that.

Dwill flying with the Kirilenko family to Moscow after the Turkey trip. Seriously. Can't make this stuff up.

Got to think Prokhorov is now fully involved in the woo'ing process.

No, you can't make this stuff up, but why can't D-Will just go to Istanbul to support Besiktas, and while he's not too far away go to Moscow with AK for fun?

I kinda think we're reading into this a bit too much.

Meh, I don't think it's that complicated to decipher, this is pretty blatant.

It's not even so much that there's any wooing or recruiting, just that with the rumors that AK was coming here and D Will with King over there, that things are looking up and also the rumors of Deron and AK not liking each other look to have been bull shat.

Spirit is up, optimism is up, Brooklyn is real, this should be a fun and interesting summer for Nets basketball, not all doom and gloom and suicide watch like it seemed in mid to late April.

Well, Proky pushed all of my pessimism to the side when he showed up.

Also, we already knew that the "D-Will not liking AK" rumor was false simply because D-Will said at the beginning of the season that it wasn't true and that he's vouched for AK to come over. That was no surprise to me.

Official Deron Williams Thread

Post#997 » by N Ireland Nets » Sat May 12, 2012 9:19 am

So Williams heads to Turkey on a scouting trip with King, brought his wife & is meeting up with AK47 & Proky while also flying to Moscow (with AK47) after his Turkey trip.

Yeh all signs point to Dallas!!

Proky knows what he's doing, you just know Williams isn't paying for a thing in Turkey or Russia. Everywhere he goes will be wined & dined with cash being thrown everywhere.

You have to admit, it would be weird to travel to Europe with the Nets GM, meeting up with the owner & then walk away from a franchise which seems to have changed over night once they moved to Brooklyn.

You better believe if Williams resigns with the Nets, Howard will be the starting centre for Brooklyn on opening night.

I just hope if we draft Davis he isn't part of any deal for Howard.

I'm getting more and more confident everyday & I was someone who thought Williams would resign even after the trade deadline. Fingers crossed it happens!!

Yup, he'll be 'whining' all right. He's been doing that a lot lately.
