The NBA Board of Governors has approved Mikhail Prokhorov's acquisition of a controlling interest in the New Jersey Nets.

"We are pleased that the NBA's Board of Governors approved Mikhail Prokhorov's purchase of majority ownership of the Nets, welcoming into the NBA ownership ranks the league's first majority investor from outside of North America," said NBA Commissioner David Stern.

"We anticipate that his passion for the game and business acumen will be of considerable value not only to the Nets franchise but to the entire NBA."

Us Nets fans have gone through some god awful times, and now after experiencing the worst it is time for us to experience the best.

A new era has arrived my friends
An era where just making the playoffs is not enough.
An era where we’ll be in the same conversation as the Celtics,Lakers and the Mavs not the Clippers,Knicks and Warriors.
An era where money wont be and never will be an issue again.
An era where our team will do everything it can to get the absolute best talent possible,

saw this last night while watching the post game press conference of the Celtics/Cavs game on ESPN news...
yeh I agree, thats definitely a concern Aussie...but from what I understand, Thorn will be continuing with the same authority, obviously just keeping Prokhorov in the loop...but I'm sure he'll have his preferences and Thorn and home will be discussing all future decisions...

It should be the start of a great working relationship...

Prok will be our Mark Cuban, but I just hope Prok and Thorn dont go over board like the Mavs. I hope Nets fans' expectations are to buy a championship. Clearly it hasnt worked in Dallas.

I wanted to start a new thread about this, but I figured Vince could perhaps change the thread title to reflect the divergence of topic conversation.

What are your expectations for Prokhorov?

I was thinking about it, and wondering, will this team ever have a salary dump ever again? Meaning, will we ever just make a trade just to watch out for the luxury tax (not in other cases where the salary is for an older player and we need to rebuild). I'm talking about pure trade of salary just because the team can't afford it.

Will we be buying late first rounders/early seconds a la the Portland Trailblazers?

What do you all think?

Expect a more rationale and educated Mark Cuban, IMO.
