Suns Fan Here.. Just Wondering..

Hey Nets fans. Tough season for you guys, but Im confident you will bounce back next year.

There has been alot of discussion on our side of the board about the Suns doing a Sign and trade deal with the Suns. Of course, as a Suns fan, i would hate to see Amare leave, and a S+T is the last option. But what would YOU guys be willing to sacrifice to get Amare?

Well, if we land the #1 pick, Harris is definitely the first to be offered, but why the hell would you need him? This isn't just for Amar'e, but outside of Brook and that top 4 pick, everyone with the 27th pick can be used for a S&T. The thing with Amar'e is that if we're trying to entice LeBron with making our team better, we'd have to trade Harris for Amar'e (which Phoenix probably doesn't do), to still afford LeBron since you would sign Amar'e to a max in a S&T.

We only have 7 guys on the roster so there isn't too much to offer.

The top pick is off limits (unless its #4).
Devin is fair game unless we dont get Wall, but I dont see why Suns would want him either way.
Brook is off limits (Or is he, maybe a swap for Robin in the Amare deal)
Lee would probably be available but i would prefer to keep him, you guys have enough 3 point shooters.

Yi, CDR and Humph we'll give away for pretty much anything.

The most enticing prospect we have is Terrance Williams. He was brilliant the last 2 months and i think would be an amazing fit for the Suns. Surrounded by all those 3 point shooters and weak rebounders he'd be a triple double machine.

So i got 2 proposals.

Twill, Yi, CDR + late round pick for Amare (Probably a no go)
or
Brook, Twill, Yi, CDR + late round pick for Amare, Robin, Dragic and Frye (Again, a bit lop sided in the Nets favor, but maybe worth perfecting).

HELL NO!!! No way in hell do you give up Lopez for those players.

Typically the only reason to do a S&T of an unrestricted free agent would be to get a free agent higher raises & an extra year on his contract. Given Amare's injury history, I don't think the Nets have interest in doing either. Therefore, there's nothing stopping us from just signing him. After that, the only reason would be to preserve cap space, meaning if you want one of our expendable guys, you can have him. So if you wanted Harris(if we landed Wall), Dooling, Humphries or Yi, then you could have them. Heck we may even throw in cash or a future 2nd rounder with one of them. You won't get anything of greater value though, because there's nothing preventing the Nets from flat out signing him & giving up no compensation.

Calm down. I know most of you are so delusional you'd rather slit your wrists then trade Brook for anything, even if its a package deal of Lebron, Wade and Howard.

Dude, chill. It's cool if you don't agree with a certain perspective (jj and I welcome debates), but don't bait others who don't agree with you. Nets fans are better than that.

I'm totally open to trading Brook, but i have my criteria for the trades. A) We must get a legit All-Star, under 28 years old in return (past examples were Granger and Amare) and B) We must get a legit starting center in return, preferably young (Hibbert, Robin).

I think any outside person would look at this deal and say the Nets are murdering Suns with the amount of talent they get back. Dragic and Frye aren't exactly throw-ins that nobody wants like Yi and CDR. I think the Suns would laugh at this deal and you're screaming HELL NO because your beloved Lopez is involved.

A sign and trade for Amare? Unless we already signed someone to a max contract, then nothing. Because if we already signed someone, that means we probably don't have the room to sign him outright. But if we haven't, then we should have plenty of room, being that he's not getting a max contract.

Yi, CDR and the DAL 1st. Any more is overpaying for a S&T when comparable PFs are available for free this offseason.

Exactly.
Amar'e will get absolutely nothing in return in a S&T from us, nada, zip, zero, because we won't need to do one. He isn't even worth a 5 year max with 8% increases(although he'll obviously get it), no way is he worth a 6 year with 10.5% increases, plus he's unrestricted and unrestricted FA's bring back close to nothing no matter who they are when they are going to a team far enough under the cap to sign them outright.
The only way he brings back much to Phoenix from NJ is if we already spent a bunch of money on another free agent and no longer have the cap room to get him. Then he would bring back some tangible assets. Any other way, as in the case that I'm wrong and he does get a 6 year max, nothing much, maybe exactly what Ecuhus said, Yi, CDR, Dallas pick and a huge TPE, but even that is an over pay when we can just sign him out right.
3 guys, Lebron, Wade and Bosh will get their 6 year max deals and will have to be acquired through S&T, no one else on the market is worth that and GM's know this and even those three will bring back meager assets.

LOL at both of these deals and a huge Biggie Smalls sized LOL @ the second deal being lop sided in the Nets favor.

I think it's you that is delusional, so maybe you should cool out on calling other Nets fans and posters that term.

Alright, everything's squared. It's over. Let's move on.

He sure IS getting the Max and the Nets will be 1 of many that will offer him that.

Lets post it up on the main forum and see what kind of reaction it gets.

The sign and trade would have to involve a 3rd team like Indy or Sacto that needed a PG like Harris.

With that said, I think Amare would sign with us for the max we could offer if he wanted to be on our team.

The only way I would entertain the idea of a S&T for Amare would be if 2 things occured:

1. Amare says no to us...but would change his mind if he could get there in a S&T for the deal he could get with the Suns.
2. The deal sends out enough contracts (i.e. Humphries and other expirings) to where we'd have enough cash to offer another player a substantial contract as well.

Cool. No problem Rich, just felt I had to respond to that one. There's no beef though, at least from my side.

Please do. I really want to see what the rest of the league's fans think. I won't reply in the thread for a while either so as not to influence anyone's opinion.
