Do they have the space or would they have to do an S&T?

Who would they give up? They have some decent players, but I think their young guys are all overrated and they have a much smaller window to work with in my opinion.

It's not out of the question. They could send Beaubois(really nice prospect) and a future 1st or two, along with eat one of Clevelands bad contracts for an expiring. It's more then Cleveland will get from anyone else.

It would be a sign and trade, using the DUST chip plus whatever else they want/need.



DUST chip: Dampier's expiring.

Dampier's contract isn't guaranteed. So basically, he'd be released as soon as he got to Cleveland. Cleveland would have to be really enticed to help James leave.

With Dampier's contract, Dallas is more likely to be able to get a decent player whose salary a team wants to dump than a superstar. Think Kirilenko, Okafor/West, Harris (had we landed Wall), Iguodala, etc.

Any LeBron to Dallas trade (which is remote as it is) I think would require a third team to take Dampier and "borrow" their cap space. A $15+ million TPE certainly has value and a straight trade with the Mavs prevents CLE from getting one.

The question with the TPE comes down to how open the wallet is without LeBron. Obviously it's been wide open with LeBron in town, but just how much lower does it get without him?

Having that large TPE can certainly allow them to bring in a much-needed infusion of youth and/or allow them to take money now to cut years on contracts (Think the Najera for Humphries/Shawne deal, but on a much bigger scale).
