I am a diehard raptors fan but I think you guys has a great chance to have a good to great team as soon as the next season..

I posted a trade involving you guys and thought I'd post similar trade that could improve your team and of course, help the raptors as well(well in my opinion)

NJ
Out
Devin Harris
CDR
Terrence Williams
Yi
Favors or Cousins(#3 draft pick)

In
Jose Calderon
Rudy Gay
Sony Weems
Chris Bosh
Antoine Wright

NJ gets 2 top tier players and instantly becomes a playoff contender

Toronto
Out
Chris Bosh
Jose Calderon
Sony Weems
Antoine Wright

In
Terrence Williams
Yi
Favors or Cousins

Raptors gets rid of Calderon's contract and value for Bosh

Memphis
Out
Rudy Gay
Michael Conley

In
Devin Harris
Wilson Chandler
CDR

Memphis gets a better PG and replacement for Gay
NY
IN
Michael Conley

Out
Wilson Chandler

NY gets a PG they desperatly needs

After the trades
NJ looks like

PG:Jose Calderon/Earl Watson-FA(the best case) or K.Dooling
SG:C.Lee/S.Weems
SF:R.Gay/A.Wright
PF:Chris Bosh/FA(Defensive minded)
C:Brook Lopez/Josh Boone

Devin Harris is clearly better than Calderon but that doesnt mean hes better suited for this team..Calderon is pass first PG and is pretty good one(just with a bad contract) and with a team loaded a scorers such as Bosh/Gay/Lopez you really do not need a scoring PG like Harris.

You guys lose all the salary cap(probably close to untouchable in Williams) but now that team is pretty well balanced both offensively/defensively and is locked for a play-off and could make some serious noise in the playoffs..

Raptors after trades
Dream case
PG:Jaret Jack/Marcus Banks
SG:K.Azubuike or A.Morrow(traded for Yi)/Marco Belineli
SF:Terrence Williams/Hedo Turkoglu(becomes a 6th man and runs the 2nd unit)
PF:A.Johnson/D.Favors(3rd pick)R.Evans
C:.A.Bargnani/D.Cousins(4th pick-traded for Demar Derozan/13th pick/cash)

Now that team is young and loaded with potentials..Everyone can dream right?

Most likely
PG:J.Jack/M.BelineliM.Banks
SG:D.Derozan/K.Azubuike or A.Morrow
SF:Terrence Williams/H.Turkoglu
PF:A.Johnson/D.Favors/R.Evans
C:A.Bargnani/13th pick(Whiteside/Orton etc)

Thoughts?

No thanks. I think Calderon is pretty unwanted right now. I dont want Bosh, especially not next to Brook. We can sign Bosh and Gay as it is anyway. Plus i never like these massive 15 team trade ideas.

I'll take my chances in FA, without gutting the team.

This, plus based on the structure of our current contracts, we're not in a "use it or lose it" situation with the cap. At this point, NJ could spend nothing (other than rookie contracts) and enter the summer of 2011 with $25 million in space without making any "sacrifices" other than not tendering Yi as a RFA.

An emphatic NO. We're not giving up all of those assets for scrubs, an unrestricted free agent (whom would have to agree to be traded to NJ) & a restricted free agent with a historically cheap owner.

Why would Bosh agree to be sign & traded to NJ if you've gutted the whole team outside of Lopez?

That move wouldn't make Bosh happy at all. At best, we'd be a 2nd round out. I could actually see that team still being a lottery team lol.

I'm passing on this.

1.Bosh will be THE MAN rather than a 2nd fiddler

2.He will get paid and has still enough talents to be pretty good

3.He gets close to his g/f who is NY based...

Calderon/Lee/GAY is still around and I honestly believe they are better than Harris/Lee/Williams

I know you guys can sign Bosh and Gay outright but what do you think they will actually happen? Whats the percentage of happening?

An unrestricted free agent's team has virtually zero leverage, unless the unrestricted free agent want to go to an over the cap team. I chuckle every time a Suns or now a Raptors fan tries to dream up amazing value for a guy they expect to walk.

Bosh is looking to hitch his cart to James or Wade. Of course he prefers a sign & trade so that he can get an extra few million (& that is all it is, an extra few million), but he won't go to a team that doesn't have one of those two guys, regardless of whether he can earn an extra couple of million. The extra $30mil number that gets thrown around is a joke. Yes, it's additional guaranteed money, but most of that money will get recouped in the first year of their next contract (which would come after 5 years instead of 6). Not to mention, most of these guys now like opt-outs after 3 or 4 years, so the actual difference between a sign & trade & an outright sign with a new team is small.

Bosh will narrow down his list to 3 teams (Lakers, Heat & wherever James signs). It will then be up to the Raptors front office to decide if they prefer the scraps those teams offer in a sign & trade, or if they're better served just taking the cap space.
