It's long been rumored that Philly is thinking about taking Favors at the two and after yesterdays trade with the Kings it looks even more likely. Don't get me wrong I love Turners game but we need to maximize the value of the pick. The Wolves are in love with Turner. How about Turner, Humphries and our second first round pick for Kevin Love and the 4th. I would then draft Cousins.
That deal does a few things. Every one knows Love and Jefferson aren't going to play together forever. Brewer is their defensive stopper and they are committed to Darko. The reason they want Turner so bad is because along with Rubio he's a perfect compliment to what they're doing.
For the Nets we create what would be the best front court in the league. We also create more cap room due to having a lower pick and trading away our second first rounder. Also very important to note is that if our target is Lebron Turner isn't an ideal fit. He's a ball dominating player with good handle, passing ability and a questionable jumper (so is Harris and T Will.) If we get another guard they need to be able to shoot. Love would be a very nice compliment to Lopez with his rebounding and inside out game. Cousins could become the back up Pf and C and the front court would crush every one.
This could be the team
Pg Harris/T Will
SG J.Johnson/Lee
Sf James/CDR
Pf Love/Yi
C Lopez/Cousins

Re: If Turner falls trade down!
No way minny trades Love just to move up one spot. A 4+16 deal would be more likely.. and that's one I would have little to no interest in doing. I'd try moving Harris, Yi and Humphries to the Clippers for their pick. Sign Lebron, and one of Amare, Lee, Boozer or Bosh and sign a cheap 3 point like Steve Blake or even try and and resign Dooling to a cheaper contract to play the point. Move lee back to Orlando for Anderson, that way he fills in for Barnes and they could use the MLE for someone else. Sign Kwame Brown for the minimum as a defensive big off the bench. Re-sign Boone for the minimum.
C-Lopez
PF-Amare or Bosh
SF-Lebron
SG-Turner
PG-Blake or Dooling
T-Will
CDR
Boone
Anderson
K Brown
27th pick
31st pick
If no one likes this idea, who cares.. it's 5 am and I'm only writing this because of my ongoing imsonia..

Re: If Turner falls trade down!
Look, its a good deal. But...I think enough of Turner and the supply of bigs in the free agent class who all better than Love or Cousins to say....screw that. If for some odd reason Philly takes a big man in the draft rather than take Turner or deal the pick...I would take Turner without regret and go shopping in free agency.
Plus, I have to point out the obvious. if Minny is willing to that deal...why would Philly already have sniffed it out? If they are willing to pass on Turner to go big...why not get Love and whichever big we dont take?
I want Turner above all..but somehow I think if we want him...we have to deal with Philly to get him.
BTW...one problem with your overall plan. You didnt create enough cap room for Joe Johnson. You made about 700K in room assuming the draft pick doesnt get his increase over scale...and that is before the extra cap hold you just created...so about a wash. You still have to come up with 7 mil in cap space in this plan for JJ...so? Yi isnt enough. So you woul dhave to wither give up Yi, Love, and CDR to make the room for JJ (factoring in cap holds) or...you have to deal Devin Harris. No other way to do it.
Stil feel its worth it if you have to give up Devin or lose Love anyway?
So? That is why I go the other way. Keep the best pick on the board. if its Turner...even better. In stead of giving up Devin for the right to max out a 29 year old JJ who isnt worth the max (but he will get it)....sign Lebron, dump Humphries for a second rounder, perhaps the #27 or CDR also for a future pick and you have around 13-14 mil...which conicidentally is right around the max contract David Lee can get since he has less than 7 years of service.
You add Lee without an S&T....you keep your higher pick whoever that is, you keep Devin, and you keep Yi.
To me? And that is the conclusion I have come to...after weighing all the options since we arent getting Wall and basically have to keep Devin...this is the best was to go.
Unless of course you want to deal Devin in the mix and like what you got more. Love Rubio? can you convince Minnt to take Devin and #3 for #4 for and Rubio? can you squeeze Love in there too for Humphries or Yi like you said...add CDR in there? the #27? Any of those secondary options are just that....but see the point? if you can create the cap room WHILE making the deal its worth exploring maximizing the value of the pick and trading down. But this free agent class and the timing of all that is finally good for this team...cant screw that up for a Kevin Love. No point.
Cap room trumps all. So if you can improve your team AND gain more cap flexibility...great make a trade up or down. But if not...I think we have to take the best player on the board and feel great about it.

We don't need Love and Cousins, and I don't like Johnson or anyone else at 4. For value and salary purposes, keep our pick. If it's Turner, schweet. If not, hey, we still get a high-upside bigman out of the deal.

I actually think the best team for Lebron to go to is New Jersey. If you guys were to get Turner I think New Jersey becomes an even better place for Lebron to land. I think if you guys were to add Lebron, David Lee and draft Evan Turner that would put you guys in the top 4 in the EC.

Actually I specifically set this deal up with the cap in mind. Joe Johnson has already said if Lebron asked him to play some where he would take less money. Also considering that we need a Pf our options are limited. Of all the top Pf options this summer only David Lee would fit in at pf with the space we have. I highly doubt Amare, Bosh, Boozer or Dirk would take less money. If we go the sign and trade route this summer we'd have to give up a good player like T WIll or Lee. I really dont want do that. Cousins is good enough to come in and produce now and Love is already a good rebounder. I do agree though that Minny may not want to deal Love. I'm banking on David Khan willing to do another head scratching move to acquire a player he sees as an important piece.

Link? Even IF Joe said this, I doubt he would. Too many teams would offer him a max deal, and he wouldn't take almost $40mil less over a 5-year span to come here.

well then you didnt do the math. You are right Lee is the ony guy who fits along with Lebron without doing an S&T with us only moving Humphries and small change like CDR or the 27th pick....Or just Yi. That gets us in range of Lee. and we can move any of those guys in tiny deals for future picks. Not hard.
But what you did is you converted the cap space we still nbeed to create for Lee into assets you want to keep. By doing that...instead of creating the 13-14 mil Lee will get on the open market...you added Love and plan to wo JJ with less than 10 mil for year one...plus the raises...you are nuts if you think that is all JJ is going to get...or that he would leave that kind of cash around. No one leaves massive cash on the table...dont care what they say.
So what you did was ENSURE we have to give up more assets to get the team you created. That was my entire point. its why we are better off dumping Humphries for a second rounder if he doesnt opt out on his own...and going after lee, keep Devin, Lee, Twil etc....forget Love who isnt as good as D.Lee inthe first place...keep the higher pick.
And my point about Minny if they would do that deal you created...why wouldnt they deal with Philly? They hold the cards here...not us.
As for those other big men? Dont even talk about Dirk. He is getting 20mi and he staying in dallas. He gets the biggest contract with his years of service. Bosh, Bozer or Amare if you get Lebron you have to S&T for and give up assets. maybe not Boozer...but with all his injuries...i dont want to give him big bucks anyway. Wade you do it.
But either way...no shot at getting JJ for under 10mil!

Turner is the best prospect in the draft, period...
