Favors question

Sorry if this has been asked or posted before but I looked and didn't see it anywhere. I'm not a Nets fan but is it possible you guys are going to end up trading him? I've read Chad Ford(although he's an idiot) who thinks he still could be traded and it's been speculated you guys could target a Boozer/Amare type PF. Not sure if he's available at all, just wanted to ask.

If there's anyone who has any decent connection or insight to the Nets I'd like to hear any opinions, thanks

He's available, but I wouldn't want to use him in a S&T when we could have a chance to sign someone like Boozer or Stoudemire (probably not anymore) outright. I'd rather we trade him for a star who's still under contract.

If you had to guess do you think he'll suit up as a Net or be traded? I wanted the Wolves to make a push for him on draft night but we settled with Wes.
I've read that there was a deal where if we traded you guys Wes, Boozer would follow or something. Not sure if it had legs or not but just wanted to see what anyone thought about it. I figured after MP said you'd be contending in 5 years you would want to go the free agent route since Favors is a bit of a project.

But yeah, suits up as a Net or traded?

He's a Net unless trading him will land us LeBron, Wade, or Bosh.

+1. The fact that people make trades with him for players like Carlos Boozer is laughable.

Alright cool. Just curious who you guys think you'll get in free agency then. Seems Lebron is Miami or Chi town bound. You guys got a bunch of cap space and it seems like if you keep Favors (which is the right thing to do) signing a PF free agent would be pointless because they'd give you enough wins to just be outside the lottery rather than building through the draft.

I think if we can move Hump...it makes it harder for the Raps for example to demand the #3 pick for doing an S&T when we caqn sign him outright anyway.

If its just an extra year and raises...they are playing for future picks or a lesser prospect. I said elsewhere...my hope is the absolute best they could do...Dion James and two future first rounders....which is great value for simply doing the favor of an extra year.

Would you really want to use him in a S&T if it's just for Bosh though? Like if we can't be assured we're getting Lebron and Wade with him. Seems like a waste in my opinion. I'd rather gamble on his potential.

Absolutely NOT! I dont think we should use the #3 pick to help an S&T for anyone. That's an surd S&T price. ITs not a trade for their signed asset. its a bribe for helping the guy get his extra and be happy.

The thing comes down to leverage. if its lose the #3 to get a Bosh alone...no freakin way. But if the Raps think...Lebron only goes with Bosh...and Bosh only goes if he gets his S&T...their leverage goes up. it makes it ALOT easier if we can offer the 5 year max is my point. If we dont have the full 2 max...then we NEED the S&T to also clear salary. They can say...no thanks to Hump and other considerations...we want the 3mil for Favors...that gets you the cap space AND Bosh and it gets us something we can work with.

If Hump is gone../I think they have less leverage. personally? All i care a bout is that Lebron is happy. I would rather have Lee for less and KEEP Favors for another deal later like Paul or some other blocbuster then overpay Bosh cash wise if it ALSO costs us Favors. But Lebron may not agree. My hope is...we can convince hm if that. That he should say OK....pitch Bosh on the 5 year straight signing. If he says no...pich the Raps on an S&T. if the compensaton they want is too much? Screw it. Lets see which big we can get and nt give ANYONE our assets. In the long run...a better move.

Lebron is Miami bound? No way. That whole situation is a joke. He's staying on the Cavs. The Nets should be trying to get one of the others guys to commit now like Amare or Lee cause the rest of the free agents outside of Bosh and Boozer are staying imo. Id sign RJ and Lee. Not Flashy but realistic and an upgrade that will clearly put them in the top 4 of the East along with a healthy Devin and Avery with Lopez being the #2 C in the league.

I've said it all along, and I still feel the same way...

Wade = Lock in Miami
Bosh = Lock in Miami
Lebron = ? ? ?

Okay, okay, so originally I said Lebron was a lock to stay with the Cavaliers, but I'm not so sure anymore I now feel that both the Bulls and Nets are in the mix (along with the Cavaliers)...

Bosh was impressed with the Nets presentation as I expected.

If he chooses Nets... do u think a Favors + TPE would be on the table for a Bosh S+T ?

Favors? No, probably not, but I think you'd be able to get the GSW warriors pick, which is pretty valuable, and T-Will. Though, Thorn might blink at the idea of Bosh and Lebron, and give Favors up. After all, where else can the Raptors turn to? Miami could give them back their pick, yeah that's true, but what else? Chicago, they can give you Noah, but they probably won't. The Knicks? I doubt you want Curry. The Nets will try to keep Favors as long as they can, and would probably wait for the other teams to set the market price for the sign and trade.

Absolutely not.
Probably a future 1st or two and a huge TPE, maybe the other rookie Damion James.

It doesn't matter what other teams can offer in comparison.
This is the common misconception with Bosh and it needs to end.
There will be no bidding war.
Bosh will ultimately decide on one specific team that he will play the prime years of his career on and very likely retire with.
He isn't going to leave it up to BC to decide his destination based on what assets he can gut said team of before arriving there.
Bosh will choose this one specific team and then BC and that one specific team's GM will work out something realistic and reasonable for both sides.
End. Of. Story.

Disagree tremendously with that. Bosh is all about the money, and if he chooses let's say two teams that he's comfortable with, Colangelo will trade him to which ever team gives him the best package. I don't really see how that is such a stretch of the imagination. Like I said, though, that is neither here nor there, because I said IF it comes down to it not that the Nets would automatically do it. If it came down to Favors with no Lebron, or no Favors with Lebron and Bosh, you bet your mojitoes that Favors is on the first dog sled up to Toronto.

Edit: Oh, and the list of what teams could trade, was actually me just showing that the Raptors have no leverage and they'll take what we give them, :lol: .

VC4P is right.

But I think it has to be put in context.

Colangelo cant TRADE him anywhere Bosh doesnt want to go. So the offers are meaningless.

We move Hump...We can give him the 5 year max. So it goes like this.

I have decided to go to NJ. I will sign a 5 year max. They are willing to negotiate a 6 year max with you....if the price is reasonable.

GM's talk...Colangelo starts with...I want no salary only a large TPE and picks. Or, I want THAT prospect.

Whatever part Thorn doesnt like he says no. They haggle...they settle.

Now...where you could be right is if Bosh truly doesnt care as long as he gets his between two spots and the Raps have an offer they like better from two teams. Which would actually be foolish for Bosh to do to his new team.

Typically though? It goes EXACTLY the way VC4P said.

And he all but quoted my package...so I wont repeat that part of it...
