Plea to Rod and Proky: Please Do Not Sign Tyrus Thomas!
For all that is holy, please Rod and Proky do not sign Tyrus Thomas!
He will immediately become an albatross contract.
He will immediately effect our ability for short and long term trade and free agent options.
He is a low BBIQ, knucklehead, chucking, 45% FG shooting, Stromile Swift clone.
He will effect Favors' and even Lopez' developement and progress.
Just don't do it!
There are so many better options.
We as Nets fans have suffered through numerous terrible seasons, especially recently to get to this point to have a complete rebuild, please do not botch this all up and have the time and effort and resources wasted for mediocre scrubs like this.
Don not saddle us and ruin our chances going forward, this loyal group deserves more!
Sincerely,
A dedicated Nets fan since the very early 90's

Peanut Butter Jelly With a Baseball Bat!
And just like that, Tyrus Thomas gets a five-year, $40 million contract from the Bobcats, with a 17.5 percent bonus up front.
That means his first-year salary is $12 million, a chatty agent tells us.

Hell Yes! I'd rather go for broke and start Favors this season.

Life is good. Though the PF crop is weak and small, I'm so happy about this.
As long as we don't waste our money on Al Harrington now, I'll be happy. Give me Brian Skinner, Craig Smith and Anthony Morrow and lets call it the day.

I was already at amber alert for our front office after the TrOut signing. I was going to go over the deep end if they got into a bidding war for TT.
Honestly, I can at least envision Travis earning his contract with us. We could do worse with $7mil/year than an athletic SF who can hit an open 3. He's a reliable professional, a good teammate and a weapon.
Tyrus, on the other hand, seemed like a poor fit with Avery, and has never, EVER even been a consistent 4th option in the league. Paying him 2nd/3rd option money would have been a gigantic mistake; as others have said, I'm glad MJ shielded us from it!

agreed with most - very glad we didn't get him.
If Haslem comes cheap (2-3 years, 5 mil per) I'd be happy with that. He's a good leader and would help the team on the glass and defensively. They need to get a star somehow though.
