You have done a great job for decades working in the NBA. You have been great to the Nets and something tells me people are not being so great to you now. But, please please we beg of you. Please make sure things are in place now so that we can make the playoffs this year to prove to the world we can be competitive and then show Carmelo and other Free Agents we are seriously on the rise.

Please make the following simple moves:

1. Luis Scola - Offer him a 4 year 40 million with 14 million the first year.
2. Jordan Farmar - Give him a 3 year 10 million/12 million dollar deal. He's a solid backup PG.
3. Pops Mensa Bonsu - Grab him for the minimum for 1 year. He will be a fan favorite and is a great energy forward off the bench.
4. Morrow - Grab this kid for 3 years. He's worth it. Pay him 4-5 a year if you need to.
5. If you don't think Humphries will fit then trade him for a future pick. Grab a 2nd round pick from one of the worst teams in the league or use him to grab Morrow/Scola.
6. If you lose out on Morrow for some reason (hopefully you don't) then grab Eddie House on the cheap.

Leave open some space for 2011 for a Max Free Agent.

A team of:

C Lopez
PF Scola
SF Morrow
SG Lee
PG Harris
6th TWILL
7th FAVORS
8th OUTLAW
9th FARMAR
10th D JAMES
11th POPS
12th PETRO

is a team I can live with. It will be a competitive team. Plus, we can make a move in season if needed.

The growth of FAVORS, TWILL, LOPEZ, LEE, HARRIS, MORROW should be a priority. Don't forget that. Those 6 players along with one major FA/TRADED FOR PLAYER in the next year will most likely be our future (for the most part barring the next trade).

I agree but we won't get Scola by offering him 4 years 40 mil...rockets will easily match that. If we front load the offer like you said, then maybe we have a slim chance.

I wouldn't like Morrow guarding small forwards.

then play him at SG. We've always looked for an athletic SG who can shoot so there you go..

Morrow, Lee, TWILL, can all player SG/SF.

We can offer Scola $15 million the first year if we want to in a similar deal.

Houston probably won't match a deal if we made it 4 years 50 million. I really like Scola.

Year 1 - 15 million
Year 2 - 13 million
Year 3 - 12 million
Year 4 - 10 million

This might be a tad too much. But, it might be what we need to get him. I would be much happier with the first scenario of 4/40.

I am a big fan of Farmar's.

Right now he has a dilemma.

1. Derek Fisher is still in the NBA. He's well respected and tenured with the Lakers. He's a great guy on top of that and a team player. The Lakers want to keep him but they need to upgrade at PG (a PG better than Fish and The Jewish Jordan).

Farmar is the better all around player/better athlete. DFish is the better shooter (clutch experience shooter). Farmar would be a great backup to have.

The Lakers signed Blake to START.

Fish is meeting with the Heat now. If they give him a nice salary and a chance to win another title he might consider it. But, he is faithful to the Lakers and came into the league with KOBE. PHIL is only coaching for 1 more year (allegedly). If the Lakers come close to the Heats deal I bet he stays. But, if Fish signs with the HEAT then Farmar's value goes up slightly there as he already knows the system and is younger. But, if Farmar wants to start he is going to have to look elsewhere. The Knicks just got one of the worst starting PG's in the NBA in Raymond Felton (not the worst but probably bottom 1/3).

Even the Raptors/Grizzlies/Clippers/Sixers/Cavs are set at the PG spot and those are teams that might not be the greatest now or that great yet. The Nets have Devin Harris. He should be realistic and go to a team where he can be a solid key player off the bench. I would take him here because he's a solid player who can develop with our young core for 4-5 years. (maybe a 3-4 year deal and then another extension if things are going well).

I actually think that's why they have TWill focusing on backing up Devin - they know that's how he will get the most possible playing time since Harris always get's hurt.

I'm a huge Lopez fan but is it possible that we trade Lopez (and maybe a draft pick) to NOH for Paul and Okafor (dont have to give up as much because taking back a bad contract (Okafor) and then trade Devin and maybe a draft pick to IND for Granger. We then have a lineup of:
PG Paul/backup or TWIL
SG Lee/TWIL/Morrow
SF Granger/Outlaw/Morrow
PF Favors (or cheap vet)/Outlaw/humphries
C Okafor/Petro

I hate giving up a young, good center but we are talking about a top 5 player in the league and Favors seems like he is a KMART type guy who needs a good point guard. I think this should work salary cap wise and may even go after Al Jefferson for Favors type deal if we could get some cap relief somewhere else. This lineup is definitely a playoff team and isnt far off from our back-to-back finals teams and might even be a bit better if Favors could grow up quickly

Yeah Paul is good but trading Lopez for him when you dont know how he is going to recover from his surgeries is too much of a risk.

For real? You wouldnt trade Lopez for Paul and Okafor. Im a huge fan of Lopez but that might be putting too much stock in our own players. Paul is a legitimate top 5 player in the league and Okafor's numbers really arent that much worse than Lopez's. To be honest- i dont think NOH would do that unless we put in a few draft picks or somthing else but it would give them a good, young center and provide them with a ton of salary relief, which is what they need. For us, we get what you need to win in this league- a legitimate star- and although we use most of our cap space- i really dont think we are getting Carmelo and the only other player worth waiting to use it for is Paul. I also dont want to just hold onto it waiting for someone to come here as you can see how that has worked the last two years.

There is noway you trade a quality center for a quality pg in this league.

Look at how many teams have high quality point guards, it's a lot of them, and now look at how many have high quality centers (I don't put Okafor in that catagory at this point), it's not so many. You can get good point guards, and you can draft, and trade for good ones, or at least serviceable ones as well.
