My understanding was that if he stayed with the Lakers he wanted to start because he thought he was better than Derrick Fisher (who really isn't that good anymore)...

Definitely a good signing at a fair price. He'll be coming off the bench but with Devin's injury woes he'll probably get a decent amount of starts.

Nets and Jordan Farmar discussing 3 year deal, but front office and reps say they've yet to agree on money. "Far from done," one side says.

Farmar does have some decent basketball talent, but he just doesn't fit into the triangle, he never had a starting chance in LA. I wish him the best of luck going forward though

Hope this is true, he might be the only experienced backup PG in the league who still has upside, and that being in direct relation to the type of offense he was playing in. Not a PG friendly offense(however the talent there wasn't exactly putting preassure on him to perform).

I'll give you guys a run down of Jordan's game.
He's an up-tempo guard so if you guys are going to get up and down the court and play exciting basketball, he's your man. He's scrappy diving for loose balls, he has some toughness to him. He can definitely shoot the three ball, although he relies on it a little too much and he can be streaky at times.
If he was a starting PG in an up-tempo offense, he'd average 15 points and 8 assists a game. He's talented.
Negatives: Like I said, he relies on his three point shot a little too much. He's quick and get to the basket but unfortunately he just doesn't do it enough. Maybe he will in a different offense where he has the ball in his hands a lot more, but we'll see. He can be selfish at some times, especially with his attitude.
Defensively, is where he struggles the most and has the most weaknesses. While he's pretty good off ball and can get steals and go in transition.. He gambles way too much and will leave you in bad positions. Man to man defense is where he struggles the most. You think with him being a quick guard he'd have a little more success, but that's not the case at all. He's Derek Fisher like when it comes to playing man D. Scary, at times.
Although, for a 3 year, 12m dollar contract where he's going to have a lot more opportunities to prove himself, I think it's a pretty good pick-up for you guys. Good offensive player and he has the ability and potential to develop into more.

I don't mind Farmar but it really needs to end here.

Unfortunately it won't. We'll overpay for Scola or Haslem eventually.

Uh, did you see game 3 in Boston and what Fisher did? It's not about age, if it was the Heat wouldn't be offering him the starting PG.
Having said that glad you guys took Farmar off our hands.

He's good! If Lakers were to lose Fisher, I would not have minded having Farmar back, He was never given a chance in LA and yeah the triangle offense probably held him back, good singing if the Nets can get him...

Good signing, this guy can be a great backup PG in the right system.
Now all we need is a starting quality PF and we're set for a good playoff team.

You mean winning 30 games tops, right?

I dont think they will. Haslem supposedly has a 5 year offer for the full MLE from Dallas and are only talking about giving him a 3 year deal (at a higher salary). I think they know they cant get Scola with out severely overpaying. Right now we have a lot of guards on this roster and I think it's much more likely they swing a deal for someone they like. It appears that Courtney Lee or Twill are the odd men out but I really hope not.

Is Farmar a restricted free agent, or is he 100% a Net now? This would be a great pickup had the Nets already been able to get some big time players, but I dont like the work this team has done in the offseason. Scola is decent but not worth whats hes going to get.

Courtney Lee to Orlando for Brandon Bass and a pick? I'm just throwing out a scenario.

Not a real Bass fan but I wanted to know what you guys thought since he was brought up as a PF "candidate" if we had to make a trade for one.
