Good. Add no one unless that player is can't miss and we have an additional blockbuster lined up with Favors as the centerpiece. I'm actually starting to think Petro may start...

You need 5 bigs espially when one of them is an 18 year old rookie. If Petro starts who backs up Brook? Come on now. They need another pf imo.

The problem is, is that there is no one out there worth getting. Would you rather overpay Luis Scola then miss the chance on a Melo for next year (It could happen)? I won't, plus there's nobody out there worth trading for that would be of realistic and reasonable value to our assets. There really is no point.

Tru We Def need another PF....But dont Be surprised if its Hump or Favors.....You really dont know how training camp will shake out...Avery Johnson has a plan and vision for this offense..We dont know what that is yet...brand new coach for really the first time since 04...so we really dont know what to expect..we jus have to wait and see....

Gutting out a season with a PF rotation of Favors/Outlaw/Humphries/Petro (with James playing some minutes there too) is better than wasting money on a stopgap. I don't see an option out there anymore that would be worth it.

Would Craig Smith be huge money? That's all they need. Im not saying give Scola 15 million.

Besides you need kind of a gritty defender and rebounder to do the dirty work when you have a awesome C like Lopez who is the franchise.

I am so happy after all these years a vast majority fo you get it now. Years of dopey just get somone posts....but these days more and more of the regulars whoing patience and willing to lose rather than wast cap space and give bad contracts to guys that get in the way of the big picture.

I urge all of you to read the article I lust posted in the Mikhail/Brooklyn thread. His comments sound like he has been well advised into the same thinking which is good news.

Imagine if Knicks fans got it? Dolan would have to stop selling them the carrot on the stick.

I can understand which is why I say get Craig Smith. Probably go for about 3 years 8 million and can get you 9 and 5 off the bench and be a good role model for Favors.

I see no value in adding Smith to what we have. If we werent going to add someone top level...fine with different looks...Outlaw and even Damion James wil get some run at the 4...with Hump. HAve we even renounced Boone? Still showing up on some payroll charts....

You don't think it would be a good idea to have another real pf on the team who is an all heart all hustle player to show Favors the way? Seriously? We added like 4 wings a C and pg but no pf at all? You wanna start Humpries or start Favors with no learning curve? Boone has been renounced.

Craig Smith is basically Damion James. I'm fine with letting Outlaw/James getting some run at the four, with Favors/Hump some burn at the 5 if Lopez/Petro is in foul trouble.

I think coaching will show Favors the way. I think Rhino is an accident waiting to happen. I would have liked to sign a legit big like Lee. Now that it isnt happening...I think we will make a trade at some point if need be. But, Jones, Outlaw, Petro...will share minutes enough for this bad...on the way to the lottery team. Cap space fo some sort of major improvement far outshine what Rhino would do in taking that option away.

Think big picture...not short term and block your options.

Is Rhino Smith? HE doesn't stop what we can do. Takes almost no cap room.

Besides we don't even have the min amount of players yet. We have 11 players. So scrubs to fill the roster or get a vet pf to have a total of 5 bigs 5 wings 2 pg and have 1 on reserve or 2.

So if it was up to you you would not add another good player upfront? I know we got Brook and Favors but it's good to have a 3rd backup to backup either or both. Chuck Hayes, somebody. Bring Kristic back but there's nothing to give for him.
Even if they want to save money and not spend Anthony Tolliver could probably be had for 1-2 million.

You want to give the guy a 3 year deal close to 3 mil per. I dont see it. HE WOULD stop what we can do and takes the cap room away we can save. yes...his nickname is Rhino. What he does best is hurt guys. On the other team...and his own. He is a truck. I dont consider him a teach Favors kind of a guy.

He isnt anything special. So yeah...fill it with a scrub...or a one year signing. No thanks.

Does anyone know enough about a current Petro to say if he is capable of minutes at the 4?
And I mean real minutes at the 4, not we'll just throw him minutes this year cause we have to, I'm talking about over the length of his contract.

I doubt he can. Honestly I'm not super concerned since POR fans have been telling us that Outlaw has been much more effective offensively as a stretch 4 and Damian James is considered a bit of a 3/4 isn't he?

Eh, I'm not especially concerned, just more curious as to how terrible a signing he really was.

Oh yeah and on that note...

This mix was made 4 months ago, yet more then half the highlights are from a team called the Seattle Supersonics...
