Yi Olde Regret?

Alright, we all know that hindsight is 20/20. I'm not here to reinvent the past. Certainly, the Nets have been a bit disappointed in Yi's lack of progress and consistency. We also can surmise that he isn't exactly what Avery would want from a PF alongside Brook. Finally, Thorn et al. made the Yi/Ross exchange positioned us to have a better chance to land a bigtime FA or two. The fact that we didn't is part of the opportunity cost that our FO must have reasoned was warranted.
That said, as the free agency pool dries and Thorn's prophetic statements about Favors not being ready for a starting gig at all his first season seem well-founded, I can't help but wonder if we made a rash decision. Yes, Yi was disappointing, but partially because we saw moments of high-quality play from him. Is our "right-now" PF situation better than last year? I'll let you be the judge. Explain your thoughts on the situation. There can be no turning back now, but there is worth in rational debate.

At the time of the Yi dump it was the right move, but in hindsight it was a bad move.

I'm both amazed and shocked at the same time

its kinda like the Kirk Hinrich trade. we thought we had a chance to sign one or two big FAs but we didnt so of course trading Yi for some wing vet that isnt going to get playing time on this team looks bad and is bad. but hey coodos to the Wizards for being smart and taking advantage of teams looking to dump salary for space to sign FAs.
And another thing i know that Yi isnt exactly avery's type of player but i think Avery could have done some good things with Yi and gotten a lot out of him.Yi and Favors would of been a pretty nice PF combo since they are such opposites in terms of style of play. Yi was disappointing but he still seemed like a good guy who worked hard on his game but it didnt work out for him here.
all the best to Yi in Washington i think hes gonna be pretty solid next year.

hell no I don't regret that trade. We gave up RJ for Yi. We could have RJ right now. As far as I know we weren't the ones who wasted a 1st round pick on him, nor would there be any better offers out there.
Yi is not good on defense. Yi has no trade value. Yi is extremely inconsistent. There was no role for him on this team. I'd rather see Hump playing those minutes and Im certain Avery would agree.

I don't regret it all bcuz trading Yi served it's purpose of giving us a lil bit more cap space...didnt get a big name FA but we still have the cap room..its not like we traded a perrinial allstar...and to compare this with the kirk trade is bs bcuz kirk was a very important part to that team and he also made 9 mil per season...but like homie said..it wasn't our 1st rd pick that we wated on Yi....we won 12 games last year so I'm not gonna shed a tear if we trade an inconsistent PF .....we pretty much knew everyone was tradeable except for Brook....

Your right Yi was inconsistant and the injuries which messd up the Nets team last year... remember the issue with brook having a complain with Yi invading his space at low post...? well, it was best for yi to part ways.. but after saying all this.. the 4th year is a make it or break it for a player... I think yi got stronger and have a solid season with the wizs.. well see.. ..good luck Nets fans.. peace out..

That's fine then. I don't really have anything against Lin to be honest he probably shouldn't have gone undrafted when you look at some of the scrubs that got drafted in the 2nd round (Landry Fields, Andy Rautins, etc.)

No waaay. Yi had to go. Two disappointing seasons in a row AND we still have money to sign a max contract even though we couldn't land Lebron this summer.

Good riddance. I'd rather have Favors start over having Yi.

A little. I regret not trading Dooling for Beasley.

I'd much rather have and up and down time watching Favors develop then wasting our time with Yi. We could easily sign Malik Allen or one of the veteran free agents to fill the void left by Yi while still letting Favors develop too.

No regret at all...We were freeing up money and that was the right decision to make at that time...Now, its still no...there is so many things about Yi's game that bothered me, no matter how much potential you could bottle up and sell me (and I was a fan), I was relieved to see him go...
I'm pleased to enter this season without the Yi project, but I also wish him the best...
I think Nets fans need to concentrate on our new project...

He was always injured and was pretty inconsistent. I remember he was foreseen as/likened to being the next Nowitski by Kiki. Unless something drastically changes, I'm happy with what happened.
