Pick the superstar...Lopez Vs. Favors

Brook Lopez or Derrick Favors

This is NOT an upside conversation or why you would prefer this guy to that one in trades, NONE OF THAT. This is...you saying, and voting...I am picking THIS guy to become the better player.

But you see why its worth discussing right? With all the back and forth on our minds this week trade wise..I suddenly realize THIS issue is the real dilema holding us all back in our debates and thoughts for what we would like to see happen next.

So I thought I would see gun to your head...pick one. And if you have thoughts...tell us why.

Went Lopez because I think beyond his obvious talent the guy will do whatever it takes. He played like crap last night but the dude set at least 3 screens per possession and hustled up and down the court better then anyone else out there. He needs to put on weight and most importantly he needs to develop the confidence and stubbornness of a star. Making this team would be great and playing well in international play would really help him there. So would trading for a legit star who could help make him better. I mean look at Bogut, most thought the guy was an underachiever for 2-3 years. With steady development I don't see how Lopez doesn't end up better then him which would mean he's a top 20 player for sure.

Favors has a ton of talent and no obvious weaknesses, just don't know if he has the skill with the ball in his hands to do what Lopez can do.

Not voting yet, mainly because I think Derrick's career projection relies heavily on one other player. I think Brook we know is going to be an 18/10/2 guy. I think Derrick can be a 20/12/2 guy...but this hinges on him getting that player (or coach) who's going to tell him "Come on man, can't you see you're stronger and more athletic than anyone on this floor? Don't hesitate, just go for it!"

One thing I'm really digging about Derrick, and this is something I pointed out watching his clips, hook with either hand. A guy that strong and athletic that can finish with either hand? And people say he'll top out at 12-15 ppg?

Man really tough call and I'm super high on both guys but I gave the slight edge to Favors. I just think his athletic ability gives him the slight advantage over Brook.

In the end I want us to have two guys in the frontcourt with 20/10/2.

We are banking on them as our future now we just need to find a 20 yr old Kidd clone and plug him in a PG and we're good.

Tough call because we havent really seen anything out of Favors yet. He was limited by his college's system, but im still going to go with him. He has so much potential. Crazy athletic.. Imagine once this guy hits the gym and gets bigger. Going to be an absolute monster. Dwight Howard 2.0.

See I agree with completely and here is where I hit my dilemma. Favors has the athleticism and skill with both hands, but at the same time I look at Lopez and it's equally as rare to find a legit 7'1 guy with just as much skill (and toughness).

All in all it's a great situation to be in, as long as our management can find a way to surround these guys with a top guard.

I think I'll go with Brook, but he has the unfair advantage in that we've seen him for 2 years.
I'm voting Brook, but I'll give my final answer around New Year's, I at least want to see Derrick play for a couple months.

I have to go with Lopez simply because I've already seen him do well against the pros. Although, I hope I am wrong because that would mean that we would have a monster frontcourt for many years.
