My expectations are that he plays similar to how he did in Portland a few years ago. Slight bump up in stats since he was only playing 27 min and he will probably be over 30 here.

My bigger hope is that he can adapt his game with Avery's help to become something like Tayshaun Prince and impact the game without scoring. He's still 26 and he is long/athletic enough to be a disruptive defender. Their career per game averages are almost identical despite the fact that Prince has been a 33 mpg player.

Outlaw has proven to be clutch in the past so hopefully that could also continue.

Tayshaun Prince (best year 04-05) - 37 MPG
14.7 ppg, 3 assts, .7 steals, .9 blocks, 5.3 rebs, 49% FG, 80% FT
Travis Outlaw (best year 07-08) - 26 MPG
13.3 ppg, 1.3 assts, .7 steals, .8 blocks, 4.6 rebs, 44% FG, 74% FT

It depends on what else we do.

If we sit tight? I think there is a good chance he can score big on this team. First off...I have little faith in Devin staying healthy. Hope I am wrong...but as of now...my arms are folded...prove me wrong Devin.

Should we go to war with this team...which will lose a lot of games...Avery is going to give Outlaw the most guaranteed minutes of anyone not named Brook Lopez. Minutes bring opportunity.

Opportunity bring stats. But stats do not always translate into wins...or tell the true stroy of how good a guy is. We'll see how good he is. But would I be shocked to see him score 17+ per game? No not at all, because he is the guy i think has the most guaranteed job on the team right now.

I think his contract was something Avery pushed for. Coaches do not like to be wrong in those situations and tend to try and validate their moves unless they are Larry Brown or Nellie.

Outlaw has a pretty high ceiling..anytime you have a 26 year old guy that can shoot and defend, he is gonna produce. He can also create his own shot. Like I said before, I see him having his best year and being a Tayshaun Prince type player. Im expecting at least 15pts, 6 reb, 1 stl, and a block while shooting a high %. He could be our 2nd or 3rd leading scorer after Harris and Lopez..he can maybe outscore Harris in Avery's system
