So all this talk about how this Russian billionaire has a great business sense...Okay, I get that. But clearly he's already proving that he DOES NOT have a great basketball sense. Why in the WORLD would he NOT include Brook Lopez in a deal for Melo?? WHY?? That just blows my mind. You have the opportunity to acquire one of the most the dominate players in the world and he's NOT willing to trade Lopez to get him?
Why are people acting like Brook Lopez is a 23 year old Shaq? He's not. He's a solid player who will average decent numbers on a bad team. Put him in Boston and he's averaging 11 and 8. Carmelo will average 30ppg 7rpg 4apg for the next 8-10 years and go to the hall of fame. and more importantly he's a big market ticket! You need Melo for the move to Brooklyn. You need Melo to lure in future FA's. Brook Lopez is nothing more then an above average Center. He's not a superstar.
SELL high you Russian Idiot! You of all people should know this!

Brook Lopez isn't a superstar, but neither is Carmelo anthony. It makes no sense to trade a 22 year old center who just put up 18, 8 in his sophmore year for a guys who's arguably not even a top 10 player. Besides, a roster of Melo + role players will get us nowhere.

I know you didnt just say melo isnt a superstar or in the top 10. Melo is no doubt a top 5 player in the league. But i agree with you not to trade lopez for him. The whole idea is to make your team the best it can possibly be, and keeping lopez to play with melo is doing just that.

wow. u guys are delusional.
Melo alone would make your franchise A. relavent B. better and C. more attractive for future FA's.
U need to think long-term. In fact, I'd trade both Lopez AND Harris to Denver for Melo. Just sign Chris Paul or Tony Parker instead to run the point down the line. Melo is respected and in 2 years as you move into the new building in Brooklyn the new era of Nets begins.
Or u can continue to suck. it's up to u guys

Melo a top 5 player? I think Wade, Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Dwill, CP3 and Howard are all superior players. I would personally put him top 10 on my list but at the end of the day I don't think Melo impacts the game like the players I just mentioned.
Also in regards to the original poster. You just said we need to think Long term and then recommend we give up Harris + Lopez for Melo. Who exactly is he going to come here to play with if Lopez + Harris is included? Melo is NOT gonna make us a contender all by himself. We'll be a 1st/2nd round exit waiting to happen. And I doubt he wants to sit around and suck for a year or 2 until a player like CP3 becomes available.
Who even knows when/if CP3 or another star might be available? I don't see him coming here thinking "Well they just might be able to pair me with another star sometime in the future" Not happening, he's going to want to go to a team where there's another star or 2 in place for him to play with otherwise he's probably better off in Denver. Soo, no I don't think any one of us here is being delusional.
This is all moot anyways because I don't think Anthony is gonna sign any type of extension with us even if we retained Lopez. Thus no trade with Denver

alright. if you say so. good luck. I'm just telling you that your team still stinks and Melo would change that.. Fans tend to fall in love with players and forget about what a guy like Melo does for a franchise. It's like me saying 3 years ago that I wouldn't trade Gerald Green and Al Jefferson for an aging KG. Look at that deal now. In your case, it's an even better deal because Melo is still young and will continue to get better. The guy is a winner and he's nasty.

When you traded for KG you still had PP and just traded for Ray Allen.
Would trading Lopez and Harris still make us better ? Well yeah but not good enough . We have to try to trade the least possible to get a strong team not just trade anything to get a big name . Melo alone isn't enough.

No way, only kobe, lbj, durant are clear cut better than melo. Howard and cp3 are on the same level as melo. dwill is great but not in a top 5 discussion. the last package i heard was harris, favors and picks for melo. i guess that would make the team
farmar
twill
melo
murph
lopez
pretty damn good team and attractive for say cp3 next summer to form our own 3 headed monster. new york only has amare and no way linguini (who new york claims to be their most important piece) imporves to be anything like melo. losing favors sucks but gaining melo is great. harris is replaceable and the nets have the most picks in the next 3 years so theyll still have enough to draft quality players.

just to clarify...I would 100% do the Harris /Favors for Melo deal OVER a deal involving Lopez for Melo. All I'm saying is that if you have the opportunity to trade and extend Melo right now, while the issue is hot, then you do it and figure the rest of the team out later.
Melo is right there with Lebron and Durant. In fact, Melo is the only one of the 3 who has ever won anything in his life (CUSE). And Melo has kept Denver amongst the elite in a VERY DEEP western conf since the day he stepped foot in this league.

The reason why Lopez is being staying here is because Melo himself can't get the job done, he's going to need pieces around him. Let's say the trade with Lopez has to include Harris in order to get Melo. Now look at the rest of the roster and you'll see that none of the guys left are going to be ready to contribute. There will be no one there on that team besides Melo himself, do you actually think he's going to wait for CP3 or the young guys to develop? He wants to win now, and by keeping Lopez he has a better chance of not only being able to win now, but become a much better team together if the young guys do develop or if we get CP3.
Besides, what other team out there can offer something better than Harris + Favors and picks?

How do you come on to another team's thread, form your own topic even though there is one that is about 15 pages long about the subject you're talking about and then make a nonsensical argument? See ya!!

If u trade Lopez then what the hell is left for Melo to play with???. obviously he is a top 5 player. shoot i think hes the best offensive player in the game. he can shoot, post up, and drive by his defenders. BUT u still cant trade Lopez
What if he doesnt sign a long term extension after we trade Lopez??????? then what??????
hes going to attract free agents???
yeah sure they would want to come if hes with us but we wont have money to get another max player aside him since he would get paid 20 mil a year.
i dont think we need to either cuz whos giving a better deal then Murphy, T will, Favors, and picks??
if it cost Lopez i would say NO WAY and take my chances trying to go for him in Free agency. if not then whatever just keep trying to build a team through the draft and small trades the OKC way.

I honestly lost interest in the post as soon as you mentioned that Brook Lopez is simply an "above average center"
Lopez is one of the most efficient big men in the league and at only 22-years old he is already arguably the 2nd best center in the league behind Howard (Some may make a case for Bogut) You put him in Boston and he immediately becomes one of the best players on the club along with Rondo. He may average low numbers there but that is the system they play with no clearcut #1 dominant superstar on the team.
The Nets shouldn't be forced into trading Lopez by any means. There is a reason that there haven't been many reports out there of other teams trying to include players of this caliber in any deal for Melo (Warriors aren't including Curry, Clippers aren't Griffin). The Nets alone can put together a better package based around Favors + Harris + Slew of draft picks + expiring contracts. No other team could come close to that and that is without giving up Lopez in a deal.
It isn't a matter of the Nets not including a player and the Nuggets balking. The Nuggets are most likely trying to smooth things over with there star player right now as any team would before seriously looking at deals. 'Melo won't be traded overnight...

whatever guys. Enjoy Newark, NJ or wherever the hell you guys play. You guys suck so hard that your minority owner/friend to LeBron couldn't even convince his a$$ to come play for such a joke franchise. Until the Brooklyn move, there is no hope for the NETS. Favors is going to be a bust, Harris had 1 good season in Dallas and he's been living off that rep ever since..You just overpaid and blew money on guys like A Morrow and Travis Outlaw because you couldn't lure anyone who matters New Jersey...your uniforms are ugly, your best player (Brook Lopez) is overrated and you will all figure this out in time...Your new head coach has a mouth the size of Texas which is where he couldn't close out an NBA finals up 2-0 and 3-1. Your new Billionaire owner is just waiting for James Dolan to drop dead of a heart attack so he can purchase the Knicks and actually do something in America. You can count on 2 hands the amount of people in the stands during a Nets home-game...and the ONLY reason the Nets EVER, EVER, EVER had any success is because the Eastern Conf was SO BAD that unfortunatly 1 team had to show up and get swept in the Finals.
Talk to me in Feb when the Nets are 14 games under .500 under the dominate play of Star Center Brook Lopez.
Right.

yes, when I'm not working all day. Shall I continue the rant? It's easy when talking about the Nets.
Nice name. Maybe the Cavs should change their name to the Courts. The Cleveland Courts. Or the Rochester Rims. Maybe even though Boston Balls.
