After reading that the 76ers intend to play turner off the bench, is it possible that they made a mistake?

Alright, I don't want to make a big deal when preseason hasn't even started, but, The 76ers at the time of the draft had Igoudala, Young and Holiday on they're rosters. The main reason for picking Turner was the fact that he was the most NBA ready. If at the time of the draft they knew Turner would be coming off the bench for them.. do you think they would have drafted Favors or Cousins instead? Both are younger and have the same upside if not more upside than Turner. They also fill needs on that roster.

OKC brought Harden off the bench...

I don't think Philly did something as foolish as to take Turner because he was the most NBA ready, he was the #2 overall pick.
They took Turner because they thought he would be the best player when it was all said and done.

Preseason hasn't even started yet, I'm willing to give him just a little more time before I call him a mistake...

We're bringing Favors off the bench because he's a raw 19 year old PF. Everyone knew the day of the draft, that he wasn't ready to be a starter... same can't be said of Turner. Again, I'm not calling out Turner since preseason hasn't started. My point was to try and see if 76ers would have done things differently had they known 2 months ago that Turner wouldn't be playing 30 minutes a night.

As for Harden, I'm sure the Thunder would now pick Curry if it were possible.

The Thunder would still pick Harden, no questions about it. Harden is perfect for that team, and quite honestly, didn't have a bad season that everyone thinks he did. Though, they might have taken Curry just to trade him (this is if the draft happened now, with what we know about Curry) and take Harden a touch later.

Exactly. Harden is the perfect third option next to KD and WB. Unselfish, solid stroke, can play off the ball, actually plays solid defense, has decent playmaking skills when they need him to facilitate in certain situations. Has the all-round game and will continue to get better.

Reminds me of Joe Johnson in Phoenix when he was playing with Nash and Amare. You just knew he would end up being a good player.

The Thunder are about defense. Curry would get murdered next to WB. He's nice and all but guys like Tolliver couldn't stick with teams that played halfcourt basketball yet he looked fantastic in a Warriors uniform. Great for fantasy basketball but it doesn't result in anything good in real life.

Well I mainly agree, especially cause I see Harden as very Ginobili like in style and as his actual ceiling and I think his likely middle ground is a current Salmons type, but Curry is a hell of a player, straight up baller. Curry and Westbrook would lack height, but they would compliment each other very well and if whoever they drafted remains a big minute stud 6xth man most of their career with a role playing shooter defender as the starting two, I still think they may opt for Curry.

Curry makes Westbrook expendable in a sense and Westbrook's trade value I assume is enormous.

I'm not willing to write Turnover off but there is a ton of tweenerism to him. In all likelihood he'll be fine in the long-run but Philly has to figure their roster situation out first (what are you going to do with Iguodala? And where are you going to play Young?).

Given the current composition of their roster going with Favors or Cousins would have made more sense...

Anyway, he won't work well next to Iggy, but that doesn't mean he is a lost cause. I still feel that ET has a high ceiling. In fact, I wonder why the same people who didn't want to trade pure capspace for "Turnover" and Brand are eager to move Devin, Derrick and 2 1sts for the privilege of paying Melo the same amount of money over the same span of time...

Philly shoulda picked Favors and we should of got Turner.
