Twill = ball hog

Post#1 » by Sharcm1 » Sat Oct 16, 2010 12:25 pm

since when has twill be a ball hog. He never passes anymore. Did they tell him not to pass. did they tell him to score more off the bench. Past 2 preseason games that is all he is doing.

Yeah, Avery might have given him the green light? I dunno what it is but he looked absolutely terrible in the first..Then he came out firing again but that time he was red hot.

He's taking good shots though. It's not like he is forcing it. He's probably 1-3 from down town and 2-4 from the floor giving him 3-7 (at my count) and none of those 7 shots have been bad. He's generally been open or driving.

..........and if his passes are going to be like that horrible baseline diagonal pass that resulted in a turn over then maybe he should just keep on shooting!!

He was 1-7 in the first. And most of those shots I saw weren't good shots...in the first anyway. The 2nd he did better because he drove the ball inside more. He only missed 1 shot in the 2nd now he has 13 pts on 13 shots..Either way not really liking our execution on offense outside of Lopez post ups, well when they decide to not double him otherwise...ugh

our offense is messed up when lopez goes to the bench. Twill is the only one off the bench that can get a shot. It's not a bad thing that he is being more aggressive with his offensive game but he is shooting almost every time he touches the ball. That's not what he should do. He is a good play maker. He showed that last season. He can do both and should do both. Yes his turnovers are high but so was Kidd's turnovers per game. Not comparing the two but kidd was a creative passer and a great passer and he always had a high assist to turnover ratio. Twill is a creative passer and when he gets it right sometimes a great passer and he needs to work on the mistakes and when to pass and his offense not just keep shooting.

Since he became Chuck Twitt at the end of last season. You didnt notice the ball hog tendencies back then? Because the writing was on the wall. To me it looks like Avery is scratching his head trying to find a role where Twitt can be effective, good thing we have the pre-season to experiment because its been a struggle.

Hopefully the PG project is officially shut down since he does nothing but turn the ball over. So now they are trying to make him into a scorer which might be an even worse idea. 13 shot attempts in the half, well on his way to 20 again. 1ft attempt. Pathetic. Maybe the Nets feel like noone else CAN score so he has the green light, but what about all those great shooters we supposedly have now? Why not run plays for them rather then let Twitt play 1on1?

But this clearly shows that Twitt is the definition of a ball hog. He is a ball stopper, he over dribbles ALWAYS, and he always has to be making the play doesn't matter whether it is a pass or a shot.

As for the others, Morrow no shots?
I know see what Blazer fans were saying about Outlaw having low iq.
Lopez, same. Good offense, easily disrupted by doubles. Non factor on defense. In fact, other then help defense like shot blocking. He seems to be becoming a liability on, its like any center that takes the ball at him, scores, even if its a scrub like Jordan Hill (or Jeffries in the previous game).

He's taking good shots though.

Do you have a box score some where? I'm watching the game on TV but can't find a box score on the net.

High ast to to rate is a GOOD thing. Unlike Kidd, Twitt has a LOW ast to to rater which is not a good thing.

For the 2nd game in a row against these guys we go down double digits in the first, then come out in the 2nd half to cut it to 2 pts...Hopefully we don't finish the same as last game though.

Rockets commentators made a great point. Scorer know how to get to the line. Any scorer worth a damn gets tons of points at the line. So Twitt cant be a pg cause he is TO prone, and cant be a scorer cause he doesn't get to the line. So many holes in his game.

The Rockets are a very good team, even their 2nd unit is a very good team, especially now with Lowry and Miller back. So i dont expect a win, but its a good sign the Nets are hanging around in these games though, even when not really playing well.

It would appear that Morrow enjoys that corner!

Its easy to see why Outlaw never got a starting job anywhere. The guy should not be playing 30 min a game. What horrible signings Outlaw and Petro were.

Yup our bench just can't hang with Houton...they're just too good. And man it's only preseason but those Petro and Outlaw contracts are looking terrible. Maybe...we can get rid of Petro somehow his contract is 10 mil 3 years? But Outlaw....ugh

Nope, in Avery's own words he's behind "Outlaw, Graham and Twill " at the 3 spot. Dunno why but that's what he said when asked about James playing time.

Really? aren't you glad we gave up an extra pick for him? I actually like him too.

Avery listed Graham as the back-up SF? WTF? Bring back Hayes!!! Bring back Hassell!!! BRING BACK BOBBY SIMMONS!!!!!

Graham and Smith are garbage time players, why are they getting more minutes then James and Favors?

This is the 6th pre-season game already, Avery should have a decent idea of what the rotation will look like, and if those guys are part of it i am not very optimistic about this season. Its good that they look competitive, in contrast with last year when they would just get blown out every game. But i think if they brought back last years roster as is, if healthy that team would have double its win total. From what i see with this team its not looking like 30 wins even. So really, they are not all that better then they were last year.
