Link to a Melo Trade Proposal

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Fri Oct 22, 2010 12:41 am

Let your voice be heard!

It's So Simple is an idea I hope every Nets fan would support. If not, I'm interested in hearing reasons why not, and what might improve the deal. Thanks.

I tweaked the idea, to give DEN more assets who can contribute now, and get them under the luxury tax. To do this, I involved a 3rd team with capspace to absorb Troy Murphy, Minnesota. Here's the new thread:

Nuggets, Wolves and Nets

Please show your love (or hate!), and reply in the linked thread. Thanks.

Spin On Ec's Idea - Minny / NJ / Den

Post#3 » by Trader_Joe » Tue Oct 26, 2010 2:11 am

Minny trades:
Flynn, Brewer, $8m Cap
for
Harris, JR Smith, '11 GS #2, '12 CHI #2, $6m Cash

Harris / Ridnour / Telfair / (Rubio)
Webster / JR Smith / Ellington
Beasley / W.Johnson / Hayward
Love / Tolliver
Darko / Pekovic / Koufos

-Major upgrade in talent and production.
-Brewer was an RFA that probably was not going to be retained
-Most of the added salary is made up for in cash. all but $2m.
-Harris has same number of years left as Flynn.

Denver trades:
Anthony, JR, $3m Cash
for
Favors, Brewer, J.Hayes, $13m TPE, '12 GS #1, '11 MIA #2

Billups / Lawson / Carter
Afflalo / Hayes
Brewer / Balkman
Harrington / Favors / K.Martin
Nene / Andersen / Sh.Williams

-Denver gets all they ask for.
-Saves $25m or so in salary and tax.
-Gets rid of two headaches at once
-Business oriented deal fans may not like

NJ trades:
Favors, Harris, J.Hayes, GS #1, GS #2, CHI #2, MIA #2, $3m Cash
for
Anthony, Flynn

Farmar / Flynn / Uzoh
Morrow / T.Williams / Ross
Melo / D.James / S.Graham
Murphy / Outlaw / Humphries
Lopez / Petro / J.Smith

-becomes a playoff team overnight
-leaves modest 2011 FA flexibility
-maintains depth at every spot

I'd do that. Not a huge Flynn fan but he at least has solid pass through value. It's becoming more and more apparent that no matter what happens this season, trading Outlaw is going to be a high priority in season. If they can do that they would be a solid 42-45 win team with enough cap space for a max +, which would be enough to land the next big FA.

From a MN perspective..... very interesting.

The thing that is difficult with MN assets is that we have a glut in most positions to some extent and alot of this year is to see what pans out. Harris is most assuredly an upgrade at this point, and while Flynn may never improve upon and live up to potential, even if he did he would be on par to Harris at best.

Smith is hard to rate, but you are adding him to Beasley, Webster, Johnson, Ellington, Brewer (well, Brewer traded here), and Hayward. Smith has the talent to be among them, for sure, and is someone we had considered, but again, a tight fit.

Cap space gone, cash in, 2nd rounders in. Overall, really like the effort here. I could see it being done and I could see it being passed over as the Wolves may look to consolidate assets as well. Still, this is more value out of players than we send out, but the price is cap space and flexibility. A gun to my head to decide, I probably don't do it do to being overly cautious, but would be fine if it did happen.

Not sure if you have, but would be interesting to see this on the trade board.

You guys still want Melo? Dude Favors at 19 was sopposed to be a project and still went 3rd. He's ready to dominate now. I wouldn't trade Favors straight up for Melo. Can't believe you guys would. To throw in Harris and picks as well? That's insane. It's Melo not Durant and Westbrook combo.
