Magic may want Murphy?

If the Magic are actually interested in Murphy as a big, who would you want back? Who do you think realistically we will get back? I wouldn't mind getting Ryan Anderson back, but realistically that leaves a lot of cap space open, making the deal not possible.

I believe the Magic are looking to dump JRich ( who is also expiring). How do you guys feel about JRich? Would he hinder our season by making us slightly better and getting us a worse lotto pick or no difference? I don't think there would be much of a dif and it would be exciting to have a real scoring wing out there to entertain us for the remainder of the season.

It also clears up a log jam for both teams.

You do understand the reason why JRich was brought in to the Magic right? It wasn't to trade him for nothing two weeks later. Unless they use him to get the backup center they want, it doesn't make any sense for them to get rid of him. Plus, the report that the Magic may want Murphy only arose as a "If the Nets fail to trade Murphy by the deadline and he is released..." topic.

Plus, I really doubt the Magic would give Anderson's cheap contract for an expensive, expiring deal. They don't want to add more salary to their already enormous team salary.

No they got JRich so they could dump VC's contract. They didn't get him because he's going to be part of their future or else they would have went for someone that wasn't expiring or that would agree to a long term deal.

You do realize that VC's deal was basically an expiring deal since the team holds an option for next season right? Therefore, since VC makes more money than JRich, they would've saved money if they would've kept him and not picked up his option for next season. $17mill off the books. Therefore, your point about money and expiring contract is nullified.

I didn't say that he was going to be a part of their long term future. But if you were reading the tabloids and even listened to Otis Smith for half a second, he wanted to change the team because they felt that the previously constructed wasn't good enough. They felt that they would get more offensive firepower from the guys they have now.

Rather than just getting rid of VC for nothing they dumped Gortat's overpaid contract as well and they get to keep Hedo out if it when it's all said and done.

Do you listen to everything owners and GM's say? I bet you think we're gonna be champions within 5 years too

They aren't looking to trade for him, they're looking to sign him if he gets bought out. The NEts will not trade Murphy until the Carmelo thing is completed once and for all.

Yeah, and they also brought on Arenas' contract which was longer and more expensive than Rashard's. So if you're going to try to one up someone you need to include all of details. So your point is still nullified.

Exactly.

yea this is obviously not only if the nets fail to trade him and they buy him out or for after the nets do trade him and the team that ends up with him buys him out, like the ilgauskas situation last year
