While I still loath the trade as a fan, a part of me hopes that the first Nets game that has Carmelo in a uniform is next friday, that way I can use the tickets I got for 5 dollars on a date and make it seem like I actually put some effort into the night.

the head of the ticket office for the nets is a good friend and he told my pops that the deal will be done tuesday 99% barring melo not agreeing to the extension. but if he does, tuesday will be the day.

im excited to be relevant again. there are melo fans everywhere and people bought nuggets things purely bc of him and they use the nuggets in 2k and such bc of him and now the nets will be one of those teams... whether melo is a superstar or not is left up to your own opinion but he is iconic name and is one of the faces of the nba and im really excited that he will be a net

I just figured out how we'll become a real contender.

The 2011 pick we're sending out will probably be something like top 4 protected at absolute worst, so when we miss the playoffs and wind up in the 10 slot, we'll win the lotto and draft Kyrie Irving.

Even if we get Melo, the Nets team in 2k12 will still suck. We won't be used because there are teams like LA, Heat, Boston, Magic Spurs, Dallas who are miles better than us on paper.

Also, why does it matter if people buy Melos jersey again? Why should that matter to fans? Unless you're a shareholder of the Nets.

No Nets fan should be thinking about being "relevant" for the wrong reasons, you sound like a child begging for attention just because the Knicks for once are having a good season and we've been losing for 2-3 YEARS (that is an incredibly short time in terms of building a team). Unless you're Proky, this shouldn't be any Nets' fans mindset.

On Saturday, Anthony said he will only sign an extension with a team that gives him a chance to win a championship.

"I'm going into my ninth season. I have no time to waste right now," Anthony said. "I want to see the light at the end of the tunnel in my future. That light is a championship."

Anthony added that bringing a title to Denver has always been his dream, but that it may be fading.

"If I feel I can't do it here, I don't think this is the right thing to do," the forward said. "It's just the uncertainty in the future of the organization. It's a lot of things that come into play, contracts, not knowing what's going to happen in the future."

He later reiterated that no contract extension will be about the money.

"At first, a lot of people were saying it's a money situation. It has nothing to do with no type of money," Anthony said. "I don't care about the money. My ultimate at the end of the day is to win and win a championship. Whether I feel like I can do that here, whether I feel like I need to go somewhere else and do it, that's my own ultimate decision.

"You have to have a decision what's best for you and best for your career. Right now, whatever decision I make is going to be the best decision for me."

I guess we can finally cross the Nets off the list of possible destinations.

The company I work for has Nets floor seats(go figure). The same guy you mentioned said the deal was gonna down last week.
That's a BIG if by the way.

Vecsey basically sayings its a foregone conclusion that Melo is here for Wednesday's game.

Based on the way everything has gone I expect Denver to try to squeeze another win out of him today vs. SA then the trade is agreed to tonight/tomorrow. We play tomorrow with 5 guys and a couple of 10 day contract guys. Trade goes through officially Tuesday.

Melo is a 9 year pro that claims he wants to win a title in the next 5 years.

That being the case then why would he sign off on the Nets of all teams? Lmao!!!

The Knicks are currently in 6th without Melo.... Wouldn't it make sense for him to just join the Knicks in the off season? Especially if he's saying it's not about the money?

^It's a two way street, the Nuggets and the Knicks have to come to an agreement. It's not like Melo is free now.

I really hope he sticks up to his wanting to win statement, that's the only way he'll go t the Knicks.

While trades always add excitement to a season, I just don't know that the addition of Carmelo Anthony is the move that suddenly makes the Nets relevant again and competitors for a title. Depending on which version of the trade you believe, the Nets will be bringing back an immense amount of salary which will eliminate them from possible FAs. If their goal is to roll with Melo, Chauncey and Rip - I wish you guys the best of luck.

As a Wolves fan, I'll be a little bothered that we couldn't squeeze our cap space into a deal, but at least we won't have to pay Rip the next two years. :) - Good luck, I hope the deal goes down and you guys get to enjoy the excitement for the rest of the year.

Lol begging for attention? no. is it so terrible that i just want a team that will play in may? do you understand how difficult it would be to put together a team thats better than miami or orlando over the next 5 years? come on, u dont think it wouldnt be great to turn on a nets game and expect them to have a chance to win again? u also cant tell me it wouldnt be cool to have nets fans all over the country because of melo. hes just one of those guys that gets fans no matter what team hes on.

and as far as the video game thing that was just a little thing i threw in there but ummm a lottta people play with the nuggets now instead of those other teams so why wouldnt that translate to the nets especially if billups, rip, melo, and lopez are on the team who are good in video games

Think they might promise him a star like Paul? and More importantly does he agree to the extension?
