Please get rid of Lopez, Harris and Favors!!!

Post#1 » by nycefnl » Tue Feb 1, 2011 5:33 pm

Quick and simple...trade these guys for talented winning players.

1st Trade:

Harris, Favors and Murphy

for

Atlanta's

J. Crawford and J. Smith

2nd Trade

Brook Lopez  Travis Outlaw

for

Golden States'

Stephen Curry (PG for the next 10 years) and Dan Gadzuric

Draft Perry Jones please....already didn't listen to me before the draft when I said we should take Cousins over Favors because he was clearly better than Favors. Here's the link http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=1023236

Resign Crawford, Sasha and try to steal DeAndre Jordan from the Clippers....again who I wanted someone to draft high when he came out but the "draft experts" made him fall to late 1st round.

Line up:

PG Curry/Farmar
SG Crawford/Murrow
SF Kirilenko /Vujacic/Perry
PF Smith/Humphries
C Jordan/Petro

We're not going to throw Brook away for 30 cents on the dollar, just to have an excuse to get into an 8-figure bidding war for DeAndre. LAC has his Bird rights, and besides, he's no secret: teams will probably toss Bynum money his way this summer.

I like Smoove (some NJN fans loooooooooove him), but he's expensive (especially after his 15% trade kicker), and a luxury if we're going to acquire the similarly skilled AK47.

This plan is just not good at all.
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Although I'm not digging this guy's course of action at all, Brook for Curry and the ability to dump Outlaw's contract is easily fair value.

It's borderline outrageous to call it 30 cents on the dollar.

Not saying I would make the swap, but on paper there is no denying it's about even.

These trades are not as crappy as you make them seem. Not saying get er done. But not a bad idea to look at the pros/cons.

So Favors has been in the league for all of 5 minutes and he's not a winner. Says the guy with Lebron James and Chris Bosh on his team. The two ultimate non winners.

Why has this not been locked yet.

Why dump Brook like he is garbage? The guy doesn't rebound but i think that's fixable if he works on it in offseason and he avg 8 boards a game next season. This is a 22 yr old center who can drop 20-25 in his prime with a real post game, you don't just dump guys like that.

Although I agree I turn down the OP's deal for Brook, let's all not act like Steph Curry is chopped liver, dude is nasty and has the look of a player that can turn into a true star himself.

Then you add in the ability to dump Outlaw's contract...

Just saying, on paper it's at least even, possibly leaning in our favor some.

As for the Atlanta deal, it's not some blasphemous idea value wise, but I really do not believe Josh Smith is worth anything in the vicinity of a blue chip prospect like Favors.

He is playing borderline terrible basketball this season and is the type of player who is always going to be hard to build a contender with, even as a complimentary player.

Easily turn that down without thinking twice and I'm not even regretting it if Favors eventually is labeled a bust or winds up just a solid player.

i agree, i even think harris and favors 2firsts for melo is better than crawford and smoove.

as far as steph curry is concerned, jury is still out on the kid even though he is a good player but that team in GS is stacked with talent and they still struggle so i gotta question the kids winning qualities.

brook has woken up from his blah december and has started to play closer to the kind of player we thought he would become (minus the rebounding woes). Id rather have brook a 7 foot center 22 years old than curry a young guard who are dime a dozen. well maybe not dime a dozen but it seems as though the passed 5 or 6 years there have been a ton of guards drafted that are better than curry yet there are very few 7 footers available in the history of the league

So these trades would turn us into what?? I'd say about a 1st round playoff doll for any of the top teams that we play. This is some hot trash!

I do like Curry, don't get me wrong. But then Crawford, Josh Smith, DeAndre Jordan, and Krilenko? Crawford is a great 6th man and that's the way it should be. Josh Smith meh. DeAndre Jordan has shown flashes of potential, but is he so great that I'd take him over Favors or Brook? Nope, not yet at least. And Krilenko, nothing need be said.

thanks for all who looked at my post constructively.

First and foremost Perry will be the best player in the draft.

My whole take is simple...players with great numbers on terrible teams shouldn't ever be untouchable. My understanding is defense and rebounding...(Bulls acquiring Rodman) ....(Lakers acquiring Artest)...(Bynum protecting Gasol)...The goal is to win a championship. You cannot win a championship with a center that doesn't defend well or rebound. It just doesn't happen. I lived through the Patrick Ewing years, yet he is much better rebounder and defender than Brook can ever be.

Most importantly all of the moves would retain all the draft pics that we have. there's absolutely nothing to lose...but more games and seasons.

Lastly, King should be fired!

can't walk away from Brook if its not Rose/Durant/Griffin since thats not happening Brook need too be a Net for life.
Curry tho could be a real beast. I think he is going to always be at least a top 10 pg in the league. He reminds me of Rondo with a jumper, less of a defender as well but IQ off the charts

I love Curry, but I'm not ever giving up Lopez or Favors for him.

And my personal opinion: If we went and got Curry, Avery Johnson MUST GO. Having a PG like Curry will not work in this offense. Harris barely works in this offense to tell you the truth. You need a guy like Chauncey actually to run this offense correctly and effectively (wish he was 3 years younger though).

For a guy like Curry we need to incorporate a more open offense like Don Nelson or D'Antoni runs to be as effective as possible.

I'm not going to talk about Rondo though. 95% of people will disagree with me, but the guy has merely average court vision. Don't get me wrong he is an excellent athlete and becoming a good "decision maker" but court vision is not a strength of his. The idea that he has court vision is thanks to defenses trying to bend and not break when you have Allen, Pierce and KG on the court together. Again, not trying to knock on Rondo's overall game, but I pray that one day post big 3 era in Boston, people will realize, while Rondo is still a top 10 PG in the game, court vision is not his strength. He's a product of his system in that respect. Again, everything else about his is developing nicely and I'm surprised because his PG ability was so raw coming out of college. Court vision is hard to learn though. You have if or you don't. He's got a good grasp, but when this era is done in Boston, he won't be putting up those Nash-like assist numbers unless they team him up with 2-3 more hall of famers.

I'm surprised and strongly disagree
Rondo has amazing court vision and I think a defensive coach is best for a shooter like Curry. High pace offense is going to make his scoring another drop in the bucket on a defensive team where he can run the offense like a traditional pg yet be a lights out shooter if the play is brokendown.
I'm thinking Curry as a traditional pg would be really diffuclt to contain. Is he a playmaker this trip down or a scorer?
