Murphy to GS in Melo deal??

Sorry if this has already been discussed guys, but this has been discussed on the Warriors board and I was wondering if anyone knew anymore about this rumor??

A source told the San Francisco Chronicle that the Warriors have completed a deal for Troy Murphy that is contingent on Murphy being dealt to the Nuggets in a multiplayer, multipick deal with the Nets highlighted by Carmelo Anthony.

The deal is also contingent on Anthony agreeing to an extension with New Jersey.

Larry Riley said the Warriors are part of talks with New Jersey, among a number of other teams, on deals that would exchange the Warriors' expiring contracts for a player of substance inside or for future draft picks.

We're trying to understand why Riley and Lacob would do this deal quite frankly. I for 1 want our pick back in the deal, but most probably it doesn't get added in. We have 3 expiring contracts in Vlad, B Wright and Spaz Gadzuric. My best guess would be that B Wright and Spaz are coming your way with Murphy coming back to us maybe? Maybe Murphy lands in Denver and we get 1 of the picks that would be going to Denver and the Nuggs take on the expiring for the full rebuild help??

Does anyone have any more info on what the deal could be? Thanks in advance.

Lol, as I type this Steinmetz releases more on the situation.

Here are a few things I've heard regarding a possible trade of Troy Murphy to the Warriors, which Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle reported. I'm hearing the deal -- which hasn't been completed -- would likely be Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright to the New Jersey Nets for Troy Murphy and a second-round pick.

All comes down to the Melo extension I guess.

Why should GSW get a pick, especially your pick back? You getting back crap in Murphy, True.. but you're dishing out just as much crap in Wright and Gadzuric.

Alright this came from San Fran and it'll be a 2nd rounder.

Great deal for us. I actually like Wright. Too bad he always gets hurt. I also like Gadz as a backup C.

Now if only we could get rid of Petro or Outlaw lol

B wright if allowed to play can turn that into a + for NJ. For GSW...it's lame and weak and yet not worse than expected. I would not mind keeping Murph at the right $.

If NJ is actually giving Favors + Harris+FOUR picks and Denver unloads a bunch of fillers...NJ is screwed for several years. Very odd. NJ getting too gutted is what makes Melo say no...but NJ wants to give up the farm and Denver's greedy piggies.....it will be interesting.

....are we certain that's contingent on the Melo trade and not if the Melo trade falls through? Because there is no way the Nets can take on Gadzuric and Wright in the presently constructed Melo deal.

Probably it has Wright going to Denver (screws NJ but they save a buck) Den gets a guy with untapped upside....who they can just let walk.

NJN GETS: Gadzuric + Wright
GSW GETS: Murphy + 2nd

shrink wrote: This is financial. By swapping these players, NJN actually takes about $1.3 mil off their books, plus they get to include Murphy's 125% + $100,0000 trade difference, amping up the amount of salary they can absorb.

For GSW, if none of these players have value the rest of the season, the $1.3 x 40% (pro-rated rest of season) is $520,000 for a second round pick, and a couple new roster spots. Seems fine. Maybe Prokhorov would even throw you some cash.

You guys save money I think, which would help facilitate the Melo deal. You also receive a still untapped lotto pick in B Wright. I think we deserve a pick back at least here, the 2nd is OK, our GM Riley wouldn't be able to milk our 1st back though, he has no balls.

How would the trade look with NJ with GS involved?

NJ Trades: Murphy, Favors, Harris, Uzoh, all those 1st rd picks, 2nd rd pick
NJ Receives: Melo, Chauncey, S.Williams. Ely, Balkman

DEN Trades: Melo, Chauncey, S.Williams, Ely, Balkman
DEN Receives: Favors, Harris, Gadzuric, Brandan Wright, Uzoh, all those 1st rd picks

GS Trades: Gadzuric and Brandan Wright
GS Receives: Murphy and NJ 2nd rd pick (and probably cash to pay for the buy out of Murphy)

Am I missing anyone?
Does the Denver part work Salary-wise?

So true Rem, so true. :(

All I can say is, aside from Melo having a complete about-face, signing with us and then encouraging two other stars to join us via FA, the best possible outcome of this scenario for the Nets is if Anthony gets traded to the Knicks. We're paying too much, our ceiling with Melo and Chauncey would be a 1st-round exit for the next two years, and I don't like the prospect of having one of the highest paid guys in the league on our roster if he's unhappy and only came for a cash grab.

We have done our job by driving up the trading price, and with a $22mil guy and a $17mil guy on their books, I don't think that the Knicks will be able to add a 3rd star for more than the MLE. Yes, a Melo-STAT duo would overshadow us for at least the next 3 years, but it's not worth it. He's not worth it, the desperate, star-hungry media image we're portraying isn't worth it, and the toll on OUR players isn't worth it.

A picture is worth a thousand words, vc4p.

That's the other deal-breaker for me with this Melo deal. We're giving 4 1sts, including our own 2011 1st-rounder. That's our ticket to the Kyrie Irving Sweepstakes. I still don't believe he has a Chris Paul ceiling as some suggest (I see Kyrie falling in the Kenny Anderson to Kevin Johnson range), but he is too big of a price to pay, on top of everything else on the table.

Billups contract for next year is unguaranteed... Problem is that it becomes fully guaranteed something like 5 days after the end of the regular season.

With that being said a saavy GM could try to flip him + filler to a third team looking to shed salary and pick up a very solid piece in the process.
