We can't afford to suck while D-Will is here or we may end up losing him in 2012. So we need to look for high risk players who have skills that would agree to 1-year deals( with 2nd yr team option) and that also fit what we need. So here it is:

sign Kenyon Martin 2-year deal. No one will go past two years for this dude.
sign Micheal Redd 2-year deal. No one would take a risk on him
sign Kris Humphries 2-year deal. hometown discount
sign Josh Howard 2-year deal. No one's gonna want him after that national anthem crap he pulled.
sign Greg Oden 2 year deal.


PG D. Williams/Farmar
SG M. Redd/Murrow
SF J. Howard/Kirelenko
PF K Mart/Humphries
C Brook/Oden

so 2012 we'd still have the option to sign a Dwight Horward, Elton Brand, Landry Fields, G. Wallace

Remember, we have to try to get some guys in here at a high risk...those are the only type of players that'll sign for a couple of year....I'm just being realistic here.

And then we need to sign a bunch of doctors and nurses, and they can be called the Brooklyn Cripples. Even when healthy k-mart isnt what he used to be although I must admit it would be interesting to see what he could do with dwill when you consider what he did with Kidd. I have no interest in Redd at this point hes a middle of the pack SG and cant guarantee more than 15 games. Wasnt Josh Howard injured for an extended time recently, if not right now? I would never want to sign Oden, and you have the Nets signing AK47? Thats not too bad, but Im not going crazy to sign him.

It ain't a quick fix if you have to be constantly be fixing the players you acquire. I think I'd sign one of those guys depending on the price, but not a whole roster full of them.

So many things wrong with this:

-First of all.. if we were to give them 2 year deals they'd expire in 2013 thus ending our chance at sgining Dwight in 2012.

-Second of all Humphries isn't from New Jersey.. so the whole hometown discount makes zero sense

-Elton Brand isn't a FA next year nor would we be interested in signing him

-It's Morrow not Murrow

-Oden is restricted.

-Redd hasn't played more than 40 games in 3 years... dude can't handle being a starter anymore.

-K-mart is done and should only be signed by contenders that could use him off the bench

-Josh Howard hasn't gotten a solid deal because he isn't producing as he once was and partly because of serious injuries.. not because of some crap he did during the national anthem.. something most people don't even remmeber/care about anymore.

Smells like a 2nd round at if we played absolutely out of our minds.

That is a 1st round exit the next 4 years though.

We'll go hard at David West then try to trade for a good starting SG or SF on Draft night or at next year's deadline.

Does anyone think OJ Mayo would mesh with Deron? If so I'm all for us pulling something for him on Draft night.

Nearly the entire board, led by me. I've been wanting the Nets to get slathered in Mayo the second I heard that Deron was here.

The Nets need to go for Kirilenko this off season or maybe David West. Otherwise let the team play its course and go for Howard.

I'm interested in Kenyon at Udonis Haslem money. 8 million for two years. I'd love to add his defense and aggression to the mix, and his intensity would be particularly valuable in the transition period from awful to pretty good. Too bad some other team will pay him more than that.

Some team is going to overpay for Kris. Unfortunately I have a feeling it's going to be us.

Josh Howard is worth consideration. I wouldn't have a problem with a one year deal.

Oden, no.

Honestly, I'd rather offer small, short term deals to guys like Kenyon and Howard than commit big to David West. I think we're a first round and done team next year with or without David West. Only difference is, with him, we can no longer make a play for Dwight.

If you go for AK47, you need to know Deron doesn't like him and WILL take off. The two don't get along.

I vaguely remember Deron questioning AK47's work ethic a few years ago. Any more to that story?

I'm really not too keen on him anyway. He isn't the defensive beast he once was, and he doesn't bring enough on the other end. Some team will overpay and give him like 8 or 9 per year.

Team option means nothing to players. It might as well be a one-year deal, especially if they (and their agents) know that in all intents and purposes...a one-year rental.
