Deron Williams wrist

Is there something going on with his wrist that we dont know about? Hes been struggling shooting the ball since he came to the Nets, but still is getting 16 assists a game. Is it really injured or is he not playing hard because of the team hes on? During yesterdays game after Phoenix scored they went up by 8 or something and Williams just slapped the ball away from him and walked towards the bench. Nobody knew what was going on and eventually a timeout was called. Was that frustration of losing or was he really hurt? I dont know but Im a little concerned about his intentions playing for New Jersey. Hopefully the next 4 games which are all winnable (Toronto twice, Warriors and Clippers) can provide a positive attitude.

He said his wrist is still not 100%. I didn't see him slap the ball, but it was probably right before he went in to the locker room. He didn't get back on the court until 3 minutes left in the game.

Hmm, I was at the game so Im not sure if they showed him smacking the ball away on TV. It was sometime in the third quarter and when it happened all the people around me knew something was wrong, either he was hurt or frustrated but it seemed more like frustration.

yea its not anything that we dont know about... its probably developed some tendonitis or something from when he hurt it last year in the playoffs. that doesnt go away without rest but i dont think he'll get a chance to rest it as much as it needs to be rested until the offseason.

but it seems as though last night it was his left hand that got hurt...

and when he slapped the ball in the game he was grimacing before and pointed to the bench to get a sub. he didnt give up on the team the signs showed he actually tweaked something... but if hes getting 15.7 assists a game now imagine what that could be once they develop a rapport as a team. he wont need to shoot.

His wrist hasn't been healthy since the beginning of the season. To his credit he has gutted it out since then, occasionally, he looks like himself, but usually his shooting is off. Been watching Dwill since his college days and I find it funny that people all of a sudden questions his drive and competitiveness. Is he happy to be on the nets team as its currently comprised? Probably not. Is he still playing hard? well, in his first 3 games as a net he has posted 3 double doubles and has 48 assists (with much better talent on the Jazz he averaged 9 assists a game). Looks like he's playing pretty hard to me.

Jazz offense was far more structured than the Nets. With us, he has, quite rightly, been given free reign to push the ball and use as many possessions as he wants. That's the difference in assists. I don't agree with those saying he isn't playing hard though, I think he very obviously is. It's especially apparent on defense.

Its not his drive or effort- and you guys are gonna LOVE his play and the results... its his attitude. Hes kinda a dick. That being said, he was my dick and I miss him. Take good care of him.

Williams' wrist has been in bad shape the whole season. It's not going to get better without rest. I haven't had a chance to see him play since he was traded to New Jersey, but I wouldn't question his effort. He a true professional and always brings it.

Deron strained his wrist over a month ago and has a strained tendon. Deron has stated he needs to rest his wrist for about a month to let it heal. He told reporters Wednesday he would need three weeks of rest to be completely healed and he's not going to take it. But he might sit in the first game vs. the Raptors

We don't play again 'til Friday. I'm sure he'll be able to rest enough to play in at least one of the two games. I also think Farmar is due back for the 2nd game. I'm not too worried.

As for the draft pick, I still maintain that we'll end up with 30 wins.

New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams' status for Friday's landmark game in London against the Toronto Raptors is still up in the air.

In a Wednesday morning conference call with reporters, Williams said both his strained right wrist and bruised left hand are still bothering him, and could keep him out of the NBA's first-ever regular season game in Europe. As expected, he sat out Wednesday's practice.

"I don't know yet," Williams said. "I don't have either hand, so it's tough."

Williams said he needs about three to four weeks of rest for his right wrist to heal. However, as he put it, "I don't think the Nets traded for me to sit."

Williams suffered the strain on Jan. 26 while playing for the Utah Jazz and sat out four straight games. But immediately following his return to the lineup, the two-time All-Star re-aggravated the injury, which continues to hamper him.

He bruised the bone in his left hand during Monday night's 104-103 overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns.

In three games since being acquired by the Nets in a blockbuster deal, the 26-year-old Williams is averaging 14 points and 15.7 assists.

Deron's wrist injury goes back a couple of years. It's always been nagging and sore here and there but it's been getting progressively worse. He even had the entire offseason last summer to let it heal and he still showed up to training camp with problems.
