Confirmation from Proky: We're going after Howard!

After much talk from us and arguing Proky knows about Dwight and we're going after him!!!!
Nets notes: Deron Williams' future
Tuesday, March 1, 2011
The Record

Williams’ future

Deron Williams has spoken with principal owner Mikhail Prokhorov and general manager Billy King about their plan and who they will pursue as they prepare for their Brooklyn move after next season.

Orlando center Dwight Howard tops that list, sources said.

The Nets want to improve the talent around Williams to get him to sign an extension when he’s eligible over the summer.

"He definitely talked about that and it gets you excited," Williams said of Prokhorov. "When your owner says he’s going to spend the money and put people around you, that’s definitely appealing.

"There’s a lot of stuff that appeals to me as far as my future here."

Hand worries

Nets coach Avery Johnson said he’s concerned about Williams’ strained right wrist, and it may cause him to miss some time eventually.

Now Williams has a bruised left hand. X-rays were negative and he doesn’t expect to practice in London.

"I just probably won’t do any shooting or anything like that," Williams said. "I probably won’t touch the ball. I’ll do what I can, whatever that is."

As for playing Toronto on Friday, Williams said, "I hope so. I’ll see how it feels."

Back to Morrow

After starting Sasha Vujacic the prior two games, Johnson re-inserted Anthony Morrow at shooting guard Monday. Vujacic missed 16 of 22 shots in the two starts. "It just didn’t work out," Johnson said.

Players down

Johnson said Jordan Farmar (sprained left ankle) will miss seven to 10 days, but the backup point guard is shooting to play this weekend. As insurance, the Nets signed former Jazz and Raptor Sundiata Gaines to a 10-day contract.

Quinton Ross (strained lower back) was out Monday and won’t make the London trip.

Brief

Williams’ 29 assists in his first two games were the most by any player in his first two games with a team, breaking Kenny Anderson’s mark of 26 for the Charlotte Hornets in 1996. … The Nets’ two games in London are considered home games.

— Al Iannazzone

After much buildup, Proky has set his sights on Howard and wants to get him this summer. You know what that means. We have to trade for him since he's still on contract for next season but that mean at least:
1) Bye bye Brook
2) Possibly and    Bye Bye Outlaw

What do you guys think?

PS- I told some of you guys that D-Will wants Howard and he wants him soon.

We're getting into borderline tampering here lol, but I guess when Amar'e is openly admitting that he's texting Carmelo to choose the Knix while he's still in Denver, nothing is anymore.

Yeah, you're right but no one messes with Proky. Remember when Proky came into the league, David Stern was happy for the Nets. I think he'll just turn a blind eye to whatever Proky does. Plus, who wants to mess with Iron Fist and the Mob? Not me!

You know what? Another reason why I want Howard is so that all of those writers and sports "analysts" on ESPN can eat it big time for bashing us at acquiring D-Will! I guarantee if that day came where they had to report it, you won't hear anyone say, "Oh yeah, the Nets shouldn't have made that move for D-Will". They'll say "D-Will and D-12 => at least ECF."

Melo is giving advice to Paul and Howard to force a trade (while not talking about the Knicks, but we know where he wants them to go) rather than enter free agency when the Knicks spent all of their assets (outside of Landry Fields) to get him.

Well, I think we all knew this from the very start. But...keep in mind...no direct quotes. Just sources

That's what makes it great. Even if they tried to say direct quote, I think Proky would just say, "No tampering, no quotes, i anonymous, i don't exist, u ask questions now. If i get tampering, I will take care of you." lol

Dwight isn't coming, capiche!? Dan Gadzuric is probably your best bet.

"Orlando's the most attractive place for me right now," Howard answered, a smile on his face. "They have a sexy new arena, a beautiful franchise, nice banners around here and been in the top four in the Eastern Conference for the past four years. Yes, Orlando's the most attractive place right now."

"For me, I just feel like there's always going to be a dominant guy on the team, and then you've got role players," Howard said. "That's the way [Michael] Jordan and his team won, and that's the way Kobe [Bryant] and those guys won. They had two guys who could dominate, Kobe and Shaq, and then the rest of the guys were role players who knew their roles. . . .

"I don't want to say you have to team up with another great all-star in this league to win a championship. I think it takes a team to win. If you get hot at the right time, it doesn't matter if you've got three all-stars or four. You can still get beat."

(not trolling, just helping add to your Dwight thread)

Now I'm not a lawyer, but to me, when I see someone say "most attractive place right now," I wouldn't be so confident that he actually intends to stay a year from now. After all, if he did, why would he say right now? That right there is a qualifier, a Freudian one I would say, and one that would make me frown if I were a Magic fan, not go trolling in a thread on another forum.

Do the Nets get him? No, probably not, but don't be so confident that he won't be strong-arming his way out if the Magic don't win the championship or at least get to the finals in June and the CBA doesn't dramatically change the landscape of the NBA. Where will he end up? I have no idea, but then again, I don't see anyone proclaiming that the Nets are a shoe-in to get him around here.

Oh, wait, I am a lawyer.

If it sounds like trolling, I think it is trolling bro...

But that's ok though. I remember this guy named LBJ who said "I won't stop until I bring a championship to Cleveland." and I think we all know what he did. Throughout the entire process he said Cleveland would have the hometown discount because he's been with the team for such a long time (and he really just wanted to get reporters off of his back). But he also said that before he was kicked out of the playoffs by Boston in the 2nd round. We'll revisit this question playoff time and if the Magic don't make it to the Finals, watch him not say anything about his future just LBJ. He'll talk to his people just LBJ before making a decision. He won't sign an any extension because he wants to make sure he makes the best decision for him and his family. And as all of the top players from Kobe, LBJ, and Wade have said about other players like Melo, "[Player X] is my friend. I just hope that he does whatever is best for him and his family and that he's happy with the decision he makes."

And one last thing, he mentions MJ and Kobe and then refers to Kobe and Shaq. He explicitly says, "They had two guys who could dominate...and then rest of the guys were role players who knew their roles....". Yup, each had two guys that could dominate. TWO guys lol. Hopefully, you pull a miracle and land CP3 so you can have two guys cuz if not I don't think it fairs well for you.

He says "I don't WANT to say you HAVE to team up with another great all-star in this league to win a championship. I think it takes a team to win..." But notice he mentioned two of the greatest champions in league history. Guess what? They had two stars and role players. MJ, Scottie...Kobe, Shaq...Kobe, Gasol. And I think D-Will + Dwight equals two. He doesn't want to have to say it because that would directly tell management that they screwed up and the trade deadline has passed but just based upon what he said himself, he knows that 2 or more equals success. And all of us on the board agree that no more than 2 and role players.

The question to you is....U MAD???..Oh that's right, Howard hasn't signed the extension yet so yup, YOU'RE MAD! I don't like Boston or Miami so despite all of this, I seriously hope you do well in the playoffs because if you don't, you're not going to see Howard's penned name on any contract extension any time soon. So don't get mad at us, just win and get him to stay. CAPICHE??

Great anwer Sherlock! I've never heard that before. Geeze, Louise

Of course, he said what he had to say and that's a given. I think Dwight will be the one recruiting, not Deron, as to coming to Orlando. This isn't our first rodeo with Dwight, it's just the media taking it to a whole another level. I mean, LeBron, Wade, and Bosh found the same home. Amare did, followed by Melo. Deron was just dealt to you guys, so what else would the media be talking/speculating about for the next few months? CP3 & Dwight

As a Magic fan, long time member at RealGM, I'm not one to crash a party by trolling or by creating conflict. That's just not me. I'm just relaying the message after Dwight heard about Prokhorov and Deron's "discussion" regarding himself. I'm just saying, don't you get your hopes up. Since OKC is going with Perkins for the "long-run", it's really NYK and NJ as our competition, which means Dwight would have to walk away from more $, brand spankin new arena, a very nice suporting cast, no state income tax, and the sun!

You're absolutley correct! There is no "shoe-in" team for Dwight's services, so why even speculate? Because of D-Will and Prokorhov's conversation that was released by the NJ's media, yet again? :-?

So yeah, when a team like NJ makes wiretap/headlines and Dwight's name comes up, it kind of pisses me off. So I refute by contributing to the thread, yet i'm "trolling"? If I had Deke here, he'd waive the finger. Oh wait, :wavefinger:

I just can't stand Prokorov, that's all.

Yeah, a brillant business man/mogul, but for the NBA, can't wait until he gets caught for tampering or something to that capacity. Though I did like how he drove Melo's asking price up, causing NYK to literally throw the whole kitchen sink at him.

Everything Dwight came out and said is the right thing. Did you really expect him just before the playoffs to come out and say yeah I don't think I'm going to be around next year. Of coarse he is going to say whatever he can to keep the speculation to a minimum, but when Orlando is out in the second round and they're capped out with huge contracts Gil/Hedo and can't make a move for another star, watch how fast Dwight bolts. I'm not saying he's coming here but when it's all said and done Brooklyn, CHI, LAL all look like pretty appealing destinations for him and can offer up solid replacements in Bynum, Noah, or Lopez.

I like our chance here though. I think the fact that we can offer pure cap and absorb a guy like Hedo we are in a great position. CHI has some problems like Noah's BYC contract so they will have trouble matching salary. He might be the best player but the only way they can do it is if they add Deng and ORL is just swapping one bad contract for another. LAL is enticing but Bynum is a walking knee injury waiting to happen and hopefully they are scared away by that.

We've been through the 2010 class/Melo drama and not once I thought we had a shot at any of the top names. This time around should Dwight leave I think we have to be considered one of the top destinations for him with another star and a brand new billion dollar arena in NY waiting.

Let the haters hate

Proky is the man! I love him. Players love him. . Kanye & Jay-Z love him. BOTH David Stern & Mark Cuban love him....and they dont' agree on ANYTHING.

I couldn't care less about what other people think of him.
