My Ideal Duhwight-to-Nets Deal
Alright, we all know that the best C in the game, Dwight Howard, is the #1 offseason target of our owner and front office. I think that with a young 20ppg C on a rookie-scale deal, future 1sts and somewhere around $15mil in '11 capspace. We could do a straight-up swap of Brook for Howard, but I have a feeling Orlando will want to move an unsavory contract like Hedo or Arenas in the process. We don't have room for Arenas, and Hedo might not mesh with Avery. So, I thought we could use a 3rd team. Here's my idea:
Trade ID# 5869639
LAL trades Bynum/Artest/Walton for Arenas/Outlaw/Lopez/'11LAL1st
The Lakers ship out misfits and gain youth to extend their contending window.
Arenas, Bryant, Odom, Gasol, Lopez
Fisher, Brown, Barnes, Outlaw, Caracter
NJN trades Outlaw/Lopez/James/'11LAL1st/'12HOU1st/'13NJN1st for Howard/Artest/Walton
NJN takes the world by storm. I think that Avery needs someone crazier than him, in order to feel like he has guys that will do anything to win. Ron certainly brings that, and at this point in his career, he could have alot to offer this team. Walton may or may not have alot to offer, but IF he can regain health, he would be a great point forward type option around so many athletic bigmen. And of course, pairing the best PG in the game (yep, BOOM, I said it) with the best C in the game would make for a nearly invincible duo.
Williams, Morrow, Artest, Humphries, Howard
Farmar, Vujacic, Walton, Wright, Petro
ORL trades Arenas/Howard for Bynum/James/'12HOU1st/'13NJN1st
The Magic shed salary and retool with a young C that fits their system.
Nelson, Richardson, Turkoglu, Bass, Bynum
Duhon, Redick, James, Anderson, Orton

Dude this makes no sense. If the Magic want Bynum over Lopez, then they just leave us out of the deal and talk directly to LA.

Why would LA do that
?
First of all they would trade Bynum for Lopez lulz, makes no sense at all. Secondly Diwght is also the main target of the Lakers, so why would they help Jersey to get him. Thirdly, Orlando would rather have Bynum for Dwight than Lopez for Dwight

How do you know that? I think they are pretty equal players in terms of skills one is the better offensive player the other better defender/rebounder. One hasn't played an entire season and one hasn't missed a game (maybe 1 or 2 I can't remember).
It's tough to tell what Orlando would want and what Bynum would be while facing double teams instead of playing along side Kobe and Gasol. I think if you factor in our ability to save them money then we offer the better package.
The only team that offers the better package is LAC but I don't think Dwight is going to play there (no fact behind that just my opinon). The Bulls can offer the best player in Noah but can only offer Deng and his massive contact after that because of Noah's BYC and they can't offer the cap relief we can. I really feel good about where we are in terms of offering the best package for him/having a another star next to him.

Re: My Ideal Duhwight-to-Nets Deal
This idea was already destroyed on the Trades Board, not even close to realistic for the Lakers or the Magic, either we get cut out, or Orlando wants Lopez and the Lakers get cut.
And to crimsonKobe, no way any team values Bynum over Lopez.
He's a walking talking knee injury, he's expensive as hell and he's just as big a flight risk as Dwight.

I stopped reading after this. MVP candidate, B2B DPOY with a 3rd close by, most dominant center in the league... and you want to trade "Brooke" Lopez for him? He averages 5.9RPG as the starting center for a terrible team. That ranks him #47th in the league for PF/C position.
Here's a list of some players ahead of him...
Kwame Brown
Jeff Foster
Ed Davis
Gortat
Monroe
Hayes
And you want to trade them straight up... lol

I guess you expect to get Blake Griffin or Kevin Durant in return for him...

Re: My Ideal Duhwight-to-Nets Deal
Buying a player out does not take them off the cap, at least not under the current CBA.

That's more realistic than Brook for Dwight. Griffin or Durant for Howard is Franchise player for Franchise player.
Taking Dwight off the Magic would make them a lottery team. Having Brook would do the same thing.

When was the last franchise player for franchise player trade in the NBA?

Outlaw Lopez which equal 10 mill in salary
for
Arenas Howard which equal 37 mill in salary leaving us with no more space

Exchange Arenas for Turkoglu and we can talk. There's absolutely no way in the world we'd take on Arenas' cap murdering salary.

This. Even the last Melo & DWill trade only yielded young prospects and picks...

Outlaw & Brook for Howard & Arenas or Turk? What are you guys smoking? Outlaw is AWFUL... yeah Arenas has a terrible contract and hasn't shown much, but give me a break.
@JoseRizal
I think you're missing the point. Did you see how many prospects and picks the Knicks had to give up for Melo? Howard is far more important to a team than Melo, and you guys just think a Brook for Howard swap can work.

Not to get too involved, but Brook Lopez alone is more valuable than that whole Knicks package.

I don't think you get it.
There are going to be very few suitors for Howard if they don't think they can resign him, which most teams won't be able to.
Trade value is not in a vacuum.
Deron brought back a ton, Melo brought back a lot, but Vince Carter, Jason Kidd and Shaq did not.
Kirk Hinrich required only the 18th overall pick to dump, but then was turned around and traded for a first and a prospect.
Yet Jarred Jeffries took the 8th overall pick half a season removed, a pick swap option and another future pick to move even though his contract was a year shorter and much less per year.
Trades can be very situational and often are.
