Report: Deron Williams out two games - Birth of Child

The New Jersey Nets anticipate that point guard Deron Williams will miss the next two games, head coach Avery Johnson told the Bergen (N.J.) Record after Tuesday's practice. Williams is in Dallas with his wife for the birth of their fourth child.

The Nets would be without Williams for Wednesday night's game against the Golden State Warriors and Friday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Johnson said he expects Williams to return over the weekend, in time for Monday night's matchup with the Boston Celtics.

The Nets will also be without the services of rookie small forward Damion James (concussion) for the next two games. James suffered the concussion in Saturday's 137-136 triple-overtime victory over the Toronto Raptors in London.

In five games with New Jersey, Williams is averaging 15.8 points and 15.2 assists. However, because of a nagging strained right wrist injury, he's shooting just .365 percent from the field. Williams has said it will take three or four weeks for that injury to heal.

And its his 4th kid too. Does he realy need to miss these games? I mean hes seen 3 other kids born already how different can it be? His wife in the hospital bed yelling at him that this is all his fault and she hates him and then that scene from the video we all saw in high school health class about child birth........ ugh. No but really, I dont blame him for taking time off, its just ging to suck for us with two very winnable games coming up. Could have been 4 wins in a row before taking on Boston.

Alright, I was starting to wonder when we'd see Brandan. I hope we get to see enough of him to make an informed decision on whether or not to extend a QO. I'd have to waive him this summer, only to see him blow up elsewhere. He's only 23; with his physical tools there is still some reason for optimism about the kid. If nothing else, he could be a quality trading chip for a bigger star.

As for Deron, CONGRATULATIONS, PAPA! I actually hope he stays out until his right wrist is healed. One, he needs to understand that he we view him as a long-term cornerstone, and want to protect his health for the future. That kind of good faith could go quite a ways toward convincing him to sign an extension with the Nets ASAP, rather than having our own version of Denver's Melo-drama. Two, you couldn't script a better time for him to be home than now, with a new child at home.

Fine with me. Gives him about 10 days between his last game and the next one, hopefully his hands heal up a little. Sucks that these are the 2 more winnable games in the homestand. Maybe we can get lucky and grab one of them? GS is coming off a back to back and the Clippers game is definitely winnable. Need game 1 Sundiata, not game 2.

Excited to see what Wright can do. I think you have to move Outlaw back into the starting lineup and then bring Wright/Gaines/Vujacic/Gadzuric off the bench. I hope this isn't the second coming of Graham.
