I have been doing a lot of thinking about this coming offseason, as I am sure a lot of you have, and while watching the nuggets thunder game it got me thinking. We always discuss possibly signing players like afflalo, nene, jr smith, kmart, wilson chandler...etc, and I got to thinking, Denver is going to lose a lot of players this offseason simply because going into their offseason their cap is about 40 mil, and the following players are either free agents, rfa, or have player options:
Nene
JR Smith
Wilson Chandler
Afflalo
Kenyon Martin

There is no way that they will be able to retain all of that talent, I think we should try and snag up whoever the nuggets decide not to resign, for the right price i would be very happy with anyone of those players on the nets next year.

Alot of teams this summer will be reassessing their situations and determining whether or not they are gonna push for finals or go into rebuild mode, I think with zbo's contract extension the grizz have made it quite evident that they have no intention of resigning mayo, they simply dont have the money. Also other teams to look at for swooping in and getting "steals", Hawks and Pistons come to mind...your guys thoughts?

If they go deep into the playoffs (not saying they will, but if), they might not let anyone go but Kenyon Martin and JR Smith.

I wouldn't mind bringing in K-Mart for an inexpensive deal. He can still defend and finish around the basket. He'd also bring some toughness this team desperately needs..

Whatever, Nene should still be our #1 focus.. He'd be a beast at the 4.. his natural position.

I just really want Afflalo from that team. I don't really care about Wilson Chandler anymore, it seems like he was a system player at Knicks.

It would be hilarious if the Nets were able to sign Afflalo and Nene. They won't be able to, but it would be hilarious.

Even with those two signing I'd be disappointed if Outlaw was our starting SF next season.

I heard he can hit the wide open three.. so at least he'd be an upgrade.

Any additional players that are signed have to be in future plans to trade for Dwight. Brook Lopez and draft picks are all the Nets have to offer right now and if Im Orlando I wait until next year rather than take that. If the Nets can sign JR Smith, Nene, Chandler, and KMart they could be added to the trade. Dream scenario would be to hold on to Nene to play along side Howard.

Still a pretty decent team and definitely an eastern conference playoff team. I also want to see an attempt to get Mayo to help improve the 2 spot.

Afflalo would be the only player I would consider bringing in from the Nuggets. Nene is good but just because he's the best available free agent big man this summer, doesn't mean we have to go after him. He wants major money. Do we, as fans, really want King to sign Nene to a massive contract?

IMO, if Howard is the goal, then Nene/Humphries or whoever PF we sign are either going with Brook or shipped elsewhere.

There are very rare occassions of two high-paid PF/C combos in the league. If you're going to have two of them, then they better be able to compliment each other. Nene/Dwight doesn't work offensively. Nene/Brook works a little better because Brook can hit that mid-range, but I really don't want him drifting that far out.

My stance remains...I rather find us a legit SG/SF option than spend on Nene. Equal talent/money that is.

Nene is basically a utility forward. He fits with anyone since he can do everything.

Exactly. I don't see how Nene and Brook compliment each other. Yes, he's a good player but the only way I would be happy signing him is if he is used to obtain Dwight. But even doing that is a big risk. King needs to upgrade the SG and SF position and resign Humphries (for a reasonable price). There are a lot of looming players out there that can be traded this off season. It's not all about free agency this season.

One of those guys would always be open in the paint because you can only double team one of them. Once Williams starts to drive its all over, easy bucket. Either Williams gets an open lane to the basket, or Howard gets open, or Nene gets open. And even better is the shooters would be left wide open as well so the ball can be kicked out for an uncontested jumper. And by the way Im only going with the given scenario. Im not in the thinking that Nene is the top priority, I just think hed be a great addition on the team.

Defensively, the two could be really dominant (i'm still concerned with Nene floating out in the perimeter to guard the ever growing contingent of undersized PF/wing PF). But offensively? I have my doubts.

Yeah, you can't double either one. But what offense do you run given that neither Dwight nor Nene has a reliable outside jumpshot?
