Let me preface this post by saying I got into a pretty heated discussion with a cousin of mine yesterday regarding one of the Nets lastest draft selections= Jordan Williams.

My cuzzo is a huge Wizards fan and wanted to talk a little smack about this paticular selection of the Nets. So= I felt like I need to defend the kid even though I know very little about him. I'm posting this to see if maybe someone can clear some things up for me.

The comparison was to former North Carolina TarHeels center- Sean May. He told me that Jordan Williams would have about as good of a career in the league as Sean May. I asked him how that was fair? He told me to look at thier numbers- and peep the similarites. So I did I'm not really seeing much of a comparision. Jordan Williams played 2 years of college ball -- Sean May played 3. He said Jordan Williams is lazy and has very little work ethic. I said brodee= did you not see how hard the kid worked up until the draft? He was like dude= that was to get signed and make some dough. Anyways.....

Sean May had a great career at UNC which catapult his stock in the NBA draft in my opinion. However= he was nothing special in the league. Can anyone who knows a little about Jordan Williams give me some negative or positive feedback on what to expect from this kid? Personally I cannot wait to see what he can do on the floor. In your opninon what can we truly expect= can he contribute immediatly?

Something along the lines of:

Upside: Carlos Boozer

Downside: Sean May

Middle ground: Reggie Evans to Udonis Haslem

The main thing which is the obvious, is can this kid keep the weight off for the long haul and stay in shape?

If he does, he was a great pick and he'll have a long and productive career, if he slips up, he'll be out of the league or riding the pine 12th man style by year 3.

That's a good take. As I explained to my cuzzo I wasn't expecting him to be an all-star or anything like that= but if the team can can get solid production out him for 4-5 years (based on where he was drafted) I think he could be benificial to the Nets.

Does your cousin realize that he was Williams was a second round pick? So Williams bulks up, sheds weight to get a second round contract? I could see if he was going to be making millions as a first round pick, but compared to all the first round guys, he's not making much at all.

Even if he was Sean May, he was only a second round pick. It's not like we spent a lot on the kid.

Sean May...lol. Who was it that said day one that guy was going to be a big FAT tub of goo bust?
