Sasha Vujacic Signs With Andalou Efes

Post#1 » by BOONE SQUAD » Wed Jul 13, 2011 1:46 pm

For Sasha Vujacic, playing in Europe makes sense.

And he is close to reaching a deal with Turkish team Anadolu Efes, according to Turkish publications (via Hoopshype and TalkBasket.net)

Anadolu Efes is one of the traditional powers of the Turkish league, a regular part of the EuroLeague. It’s a team that has missed getting any title the last two seasons (domestic or international) and they are motivated to change that. Vujacic could be part of that.

For star players, there is risk in heading overseas. For guys like Vujacic, it makes sense. He was traded to the New Jersey Nets in a salary dump by the Lakers, and the Nets have no intention of bringing him back as his deal expired. He could have found work somewhere in the NBA at a reduced salary (he made $5.5 million last season) but he runs a risk of where and for how much. Europe is a sure thing for him — he will make less but he knows he will get minutes and a good salary (probably not far off what he would make in the NBA).

I'm perfectly fine with this. Vujacic thinks he's better than he actually is and we don't need someone who thinks this:
"I know I can score 20 or 30 points anytime I want," Vujacic said. "But I'm not that kind of a guy. I want to win. I want to play the right way. Some games I'm going to get 10 shots, some games 15 shots; sometimes, especially coming off the bench, you're going to feel cold, and you need time to get in the rhythm. But right now, what I care the most is for us to become a better team. And we are really capable of doing that."

No, son. You're not that good.

And I don't want to tempt Avery with asking for another Outlaw-like contract to another bench player.

i like Sasha. Love the passion that he plays with and im sorry to see him leave to Turkey. I would of loved for the Nets to resign him at a low cost of course. i was only willing to give him so much. worst case a Johan Petro type of deal.
Playoffs this year, Championship in 5 years.

Why do I see a frown face?

If we trade for Dwight and lose Sasha this offseason, losing Vujacic would be the best addition the Nets make.

You see a frown face because the last time I was playing 2k11 I absolutely murdered the other player with Sasha Vujacic.

Dude is a straight up machine.

The door can't close behind him soon enough on his way out with his walking papers in hand.

If he does exit to the Turkish team it's benificial to the next player behind him on the depth chart. We have seen Sasha's highest peak = honestly it's nuttin special. I'm cool with this possible move.

It's official. He gone!
Anadolu Efes Istanbul improved its backcourt for the upcoming season by inking shooting guard Sasha Vujacic to a one-year deal and an option for another, the club announced on Friday.

Let's not get to excited, if there's a lockout he might be back for 2012.

Not sure why everyone's celebrating like we just traded Travis Outlaw for LaMarcus Aldridge or something. I didn't want Vujacic back but let's face it, he was never gonna be resigned anyways, so I'm not getting the whole 'sigh of relief' thing going on here.

And Sharapova is overrated.

Agreed. I think people are just happy that it ultimately does eliminate us re-signing him.

No, but I like another Maria more on the WTA Tour.

Avery liked Vujacic as a "hardworker" and "scrappy" player. The last contract that Avery pushed for was Outlaw's contract. We don't want a repeat. That's why we're happy.

Yeah I didn't want Sasha back at all, even for the minimum, but with Avery there, I could just see the Farmar or at least Petro like deal for Sasha.

Just another small bad contract clogging the cap to worry about.
