Caught in the whole hoopla of the salary cap, free agency, the lockout, I forgot one very big thing....
This is the Nets last season in New Jersey.
Or maybe last season was the last season if the lockout continues.
Obviously for economic reasons and the 'lure of the city' factor (which I'm not too high on...see Knicks before this year), I support the move.
But when I think about how the state that raised can no longer officially own the highlights to Kidd, Martin, Jefferson, our Finals runs or our loveable losing seasons, it does make me a little said. Nostalgia kicks in....
No matter what happens, our "New Jersey" Nets will always be in our hearts even though the rest of the country may forget. And for that, I'm reposting the video made by gmjigga:

If there is a season next year, I think we should all buy tickets for the last game. It'll probably be the most bittersweet moment that we'll have as NJ Nets fans.

Grrrrrr....Bruce Ranter....You sorry POS you!
Those highlights was kinda sad man= no joke. Makes the Nets run seem like yesteryear or something. I miss them days and I hope that in my lifetime my favorite NBA squad sniffs the NBA finals one more time with a victory exit.
NJN will forever have a piece of my heart. Season or no season= the NETS will forever be my favorite team.
Those were the good old days. Timeless really sums it up.

Yeah, I agree about Kmart's energy. He's a huge reason why we became so emotionally attached to the game. He made seem like we really pumped life into the team. When he would get the crowd going, it felt that we were playing with our team on the court.
When you listen to those highlights, you see and hear a crown in unison. When we came back against the Hornets, it felt like the fans were making shots right along with Kittles and KVH. We were one with that team.
And yeah, as I was looking up those videos I saw the videos for the Pacers game. I was there, lower level. I still have the tickets and the towels that they gave to everyone at the game!

Why do you say that? The people in OKC dont own the highlights to Seattles NBA Finals run, or Shawn Kemp/Gary Payton highlights. Those will always be Seattle and the Kidd, Martin, and Jefferson Finals appearances will always belong to NJ. I dont support the move to Brooklyn. What do I care about the financials of the team or if the owner is losing money? I want to support my home state and not have to be like most other people and wish I was from NY. It is the most overrated city and I will never be a fan of any team from that entire state. Id rather be a 76ers fans instead of a Knicks or Brooklyn whatever the name is going to change to.

I hear you, I really do, but without this move and new ownership that plans to make money, this team would have continued to be run like the Pittsburgh Pirates of the NBA.
Also, even if a good ownership group took over and put them at the Rock permanently, we would always have trouble attracting FA's.
The move for Deron could have never been made without Brooklyn, it would have been a given he walked before playing the rest of his career and prime in the Bricks.
Sure, I have a huge soft spot for Newark, but most people who didn't grow up here look at it as the **** hole that it is.
I still feel as though the Nets would have done better if the Rock had been built in downtown Jersey City.
I want to support my home state and not have to be like most other people and wish I was from NY.
I understand this sentiment entirely and feel the same, but I have long accepted the fate of this team moving and honestly, Brooklyn is ridiculously close to me anyway.
It is the most overrated city and I will never be a fan of any team from that entire state.
I couldn't disagree more.
NYC is one of the most awesome cities and just places in the country and world.
Brooklyn might be my favorite borough, just a great vibe.
Id rather be a 76ers fans instead of a Knicks or Brooklyn whatever the name is going to change to.
Knicks?
No, this team is not going to become the Knicks thank you very much.
I will say, if they change the name of the team, I'll abandon ship myself.
But no, I will not abandon this team just because they move 15 miles from their current location.
I am a diehard fan of this team and you and rest of us on this board are as well, but let's be real here, the Nets have one of the smallest and most fair weather fan bases of any team in professional sports.
It is almost impossible to support a team in this state.
Unless the team is quite literally contending for a title every year, the fan base is fickle and doesn't come to games and no I am not just talking of the horrid 12-70 year and even last season.
It's hard to maintain a team in this market when the attendance shrinks to nothing during every rebuild period.
Most all teams experience a lull during these situations, but not many to this degree and if they do they're in a small market and are on the verge of being moved themselves.
As longs as they keep the name NETS, just be thankful they're only moving 15 miles away instead of being ripped from our state and city and moved thousands of miles away and having the name changed and identity stolen.
These are exciting times to be a Nets fan.
Just remember, even though you and me never witnessed it, this team was once New York's and was forced to move to NJ in the first place.
This is probably how we have great insightful fans like E.

That's pretty much what I've been saying from the start of this whole shabazz... Welcome to the dark side VC.
