NBA 2K12

Post#1 » by NyCeEvO » Mon Oct 3, 2011 1:55 am

I haven't played a basketball game in a long time cuz I have been disappointed with both 2K and EA, but I played the demo for 2K two nights ago, pre-ordered it today and I'm really excited about it. It looks like it's going to be the great!

How many of yall have Xbox Live Gamertags?

My Gamertag: NyCe101

I still play a bit of COD every once in a while so if you wanna get your posterior handed to you, just hit me up :D

Im thinking of getting this. I really enjoyed 2k11 my player mode, it was completely addictive but the game got ruined by the people making their player 99 through a simple cheat.

Hopefully they fix that someone then pick up games etc would rock!!

Might buy it for the PC just because $20-$30 bucks seems like a proper price tag for the game... They crapped out the passing game hard in 2k11.

^^ Yes this game is amazing. I hate 2k11 there were too many animations when you do a move and the right analog stick was unresponsive to what you wanted to do. This one changes the whole thing. I just wish when you go to association mode, they let you add the rookies and put you on this off-season first.

I hated 2k11 too Jeff, I liked 2k10, 2k9 and 2k7. 2k12 I gotta say is way different than all of those games i mention and not in a bad way. Skill wise 2k12 will take a lot of em compare to every 2k series.

The only thing that suck really it's not the real roster. However, I think they will change it if there is a season.

I really liked 2k11, but I liked multi-player mode 300 times more than single player mode. The computer controlled player instincts drive me absolutely insane sometimes. On multi-player if you can get 3-5 guys playing online, is just straight up badass though.

I'll probably buy 2K12 at some point.

What additions have they added to the game?

Prelude:

They really amped up My Player mode, entirely re-did the post game, and added a TON of older "classic" teams in addition to other supposed improvements.

The question I always ask with 2k though is what flaws did they actually address? Paint scoring has been a cheeser's dream for years and like I said before they completely destroyed the passing system in 2k11...

With that being said I just realized I'm bored as hell with a ton of money to burn so I might pick the game up for the hell of it

^^^

I don't play my player mode so i can't really say.

I love the new post game. It became a lot more fluid AND faster (Which is realistic). So you have to think fast for what moves you pick. I always had a hard time scoring inside using post moves so I don't know what's the cheap about it. (I consider myself a pretty good player since I only lost twice on 2k11 undefeated in 2k10 and undefeated in 2k8 online). The flaws they fixed is the guard play. In the 2k series it's been tremendously easy to score with guards because of the million moves you can do. In 2k12 it's actually kinda hard to get drive in. Also the AI on the zone defense is much improved.

Anyway, what i'm saying is this might the best 2k series i've played. However, it might be too early to judge. Anyway, just play me I have PS3 IGN:JDRoma and the teams i use are HOU, OKC, WAS, IND, NJN, ORL.

...So did I. Melo's ball hoggery is really pissing me off, let me get in a shot every now and then bro

The new post game is good, but I still don't have a good grasp of the controls, I'm starting to get a handle on the jumper mechanics but so many of the jumper animations seem the same (the escape dribble and the hop steps left and right crap).

Dribbling is still frustrating as hell and passing pretty much has the same flaws as it did in 2k11, I tried changing the setting to zone passing but haven't noticed much of a difference yet...

Pre ordered the game, its coming Friday.

My players is the reason Im buying 2k12. It was great in 2k11 but looks even better in 2k12.

What about making an online team of Nets fans to play with your my players with (if that makes sense)

Cant remember what it's called but it would be fun as hell. We could post what position people play so when you start a career we dont have 3 pg's 4 sg's and no forwards.

I'm toying with being a centre or power forward, love playing as a big man because being 5'8 it's the only chance ill ever get haha

But what do you guys think of the idea (btw im on Xbox so it would be on xbox live)

I'm pretty busy now so I can't play a lot but I agree that the passing has been the main detractor although I still love playing the game.

How hard could it be to write code so that when you're select icon passing and you begin to pass to someone, you could use the left thumbstick to direct the pass to the 5 areas of the person that you want to pass to?:
1) Right hand
2) Close to right foot (bounce pass)
3) Left hand
4) Close to left foot (bounce pass)
5)Chest

It would make passing so much better for us so that we can choose where what area of the intended target that we want to pass it to. I know that it can't be that hard and they probably did it on purpose and include it in 2K13 so that you'll want to buy next year's game lol.

One thing I'm going to mess around with today is the lead pass / directional pass crap, if you push LB then hit the left stick in a direction and then you push the icon above the player's head I believe the player runs in the direction you hit the left stick before you make the pass.

Still what bothers me about the above is that it's a control scheme casual players will never really pick up, so it kind of kills the fun when you have a group of friends over and they're turning the ball over every other play

NBA 2K12

Post#18 » by N Ireland Nets » Fri Oct 7, 2011 1:50 pm

So started my player yesterday & holy crap what a game!!!

Started as 6'9 200 lbs SF, a slasher :)

Got 18 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists & 2 steal in prospect game.

Got interviewed by the Jazz, Suns & Rockets. I told them all where to go. So the draft comes & I start to slide past all said teams & just as I thought I'd go to the Nets the Mavs take me 26 overall :(

Played 5 games where I got about 5 mins with the Mavs SF depth so asked for trade. Got moved to the Rockets who traded Martin to Detroit for Gordon & Monroe. Thought it was a nice fit until again I got no game time apart from other positions ( I actually got put in PG, SG, PF & C at different points.

I had a fight with management & the city of Houston hated me & I hated them. So I requested another team because I saw the Nets were interested.

So I played limited mins with boo's from the crowd for several games until the magic moment happened....

Image

So I was the happiest man alive.... for 5mins until I looked at who was traded (looool at Humps new deal)

Image

So that's left me with this roster

Image

But to make matters worse look....

Image

I'm 6th man with Outlaw starting SF :(

Aw well ill keep you all posted, GO NETS!!!

Speaking of Outlaw, I was playing a game online against one of those Oklahoma City Thunder Cheesers, and down by 4 with 2:30 to go I threw down a ridiculous baseline dunk over two defenders to cut the lead to two... Literally 5 seconds later either the guy I was playing quit, or the server disconnected me so I didn't get a chance to finish the game

---

I'm still on the Knicks in My Player... The Knicks first traded Landry Fields for Glen Davis but instead of moving me into the starting lineup they decided to start Toney Douglas... Then Amar'e went down and Billups and Douglas were traded for Bargnani and Bayless, once again instead of starting me they decided to start Roger Mason Jr...

But FINALLY once Amar'e came back from injury (around Game 25) I got my first start of the season, and seem to have the starting spot locked up for the foreseeable future given that all the other SG on the roster suck.

My season stats are still garbage... Roughly 10.5 ppg 1.5 apg 1.5 rpg but on 38% shooting... But on the flipside I'm starting to have more plays run for me.
