The Countdown

How many more days until the NBA becomes unbearable for fans of teams not the Lakers and Heat?

Lakers are about to land Chris Paul for Gasol. There's no way Dwight isn't a Laker after that, right?

Why would Houston help the Lakers get Paul when they themselves have been clamoring to get a superstar. I call Bull****.

No BS, but the NBA nixed the deal.

I actually wonder if this wasn't a blessing in disguise (for us), the best of all possible outcomes for the Nets. After all, CP3 was forcing his way to either NYK or LAL; when the Lakers trade was heating up, the Knicks shifted their focus and threw a 4-year, $58mil deal at Tyson Chandler, killing their '12 capspace, and their chances at Paul. Then the NBA vetoes the trade, and I would be shocked if the NBA later allowed ANY permutation of this deal that has Paul landing with the Lakers, so THAT option is out. No Lakers superteam, no Knicks superteam; all in all, today was one excellent day for the Nets, and their chances of contending in the near future.

Word is Stern is saying that the players can no longer dictate where they want to go. Therefore, CP3 to Boston might be back again.

Rondo/Green/two1sts seems to me a better rebuilding package than a bunch of 30-somethings, anyway. People say that it was good value for NOH; but if you're trading your superstar, the last things you want should be to get older and add salary while diluting your assets. The post-trade lineup looks alot more complete, but they would be a 35-win team in the West, IMO. If you're going to rebuild, blow it up, and snag a top-3 pick or two. You never want to end up in NBA purgatory, the late lotto. But with Okafor, Scola, K-Mart Ariza and LO all tying up long-term salary and no true All-Star to guide them, that's exactly where they'd be.
