David Stern has just cost the nets Dwight Howard
With his vetoing bull crap the lakers who would have been very unlikely to trade for Howard after getting CP3 (with only Bynum available) are now in prime position to get him. Nothing the nets can offer or hope to offer will match Gasol. And yes while Brooklyn is Howard's proffered destination there is no chance in hell he will refuse to sign an extension with the lakers. So thanks stern not only have you ruined the nets season but you've also ruined the hornets who will not get another deal that good for paul. As well as the rockets who have to explain to Scola and Martin that they didn't want them.

yes but the writing is on the wall. The Lakers have given up on cp3 and have set their full sights on Dwight Howard. And since Howard will sign an extension with either Nets or the Lakers it comes down to who gives the Magic the better offer. And the lakers have much more to offer than the nets.

you know the TPE that the Lakers got would not be enough to get Turk so this doesnt even mean the lakers automatically have Howard

Yes it's an uphill battle for us all because of Stern and Dan Gilbert.... Howard has become a longshot for us.. Now we can absorb hedo turkoglu's contract which the lakers prob can't but at this point who knows...brook is younger than gasol and more durable than Bynum ... Maybe that works in our favor ...just give us Nene and call it a day

While this true, the follow does work under the cap:
Dwight, Jameer and Hedo for Gasol and Bynum without the Lakers touching that TPE.

Re: David Stern has just cost the nets Dwight Howard
Which is why I started to PO'd while I was trying to catch up on the latest details.
Orlando decided not to rebuild and because of that a Bynum + Gasol package would appeal to them a lot. D12 could even say he doesn't want to go but I doubt that Orl would listen.
The only thing that we could hope for is that Orlando simply doesn't want to create Shaq 2.0, however if they gave Dwight's agent the ability to talk to LA already, they clearly don't care about it anymore.
Like others have said, if Dwight goes to LA, I don't know how much NBA I'll be watching. The Lakers have trolled the league so hard during the last few days that it would be the most disgusting thing to see them actually get all that they want.

If Dwight wants to be here, he'll do something about it. He's given ORL countless opportunities to improve and they have only failed.
This is 'Melo Drama Part II: BK's Revenge.
I also think there are people from teams planting stories and possibly even the media driving a certain narrative. The Nets are the unsexy team that everyone wants to poke fun at.
Also, there's the fact that Dwight doesn't want to go to L.A. , according to Yahoo. But, CBS says the complete opposite. There is one thing everyone agrees on, though, and that's Dwight requested a trade to the Nets. I'll take Woj's word over anyone else's any day of the week.

The lakers did not pull out because of fear that they could not get Howard. Sources say that the league did not approve the trade AGAIN and that teams were warned to stay quiet.

Yeah the problem here is that, the one advantage we had against LA was that our assets are better for a rebuilding team. For whatever reason, Orlando is choosing NOT to do that, which shifts the balance back to the Lakers.
BUT...as we've talked about before, I hope Dwight wise's up and really forces his hands. What's the point in going to a depleted LA team with an aging Bryant? If Paul was there, OK. Can't beat that. But Kobe and Dwight alone?
Plus the stigma of following Shaq again...

Larry Coon, ESPN.com: They say fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. But at this point, I think I'm willing to let "Easy Dave" fool me a third time. I still think the Lakers make the most sense. And correct me if I'm wrong, but Stern said he wanted the Hornets to have younger players and picks -- and the Lakers now have flipped the oldest guy (Lamar Odom, 32) in the twice-aborted trade for a first-round pick.

I haven’t read the entire post but if I were the Orlando I would make the trade with the New Jersey if they decide to eat Turk’s contract. I think I read somewhere that Nets owner was willing to take Turk and Howard and send Lopez and 2 1st to Orlando. I am not sure what the other pieces were.

I've been angry about this simply because i'm sick of seeing the Lakers always get the best trades and would for once like to see a little guy like us get the superstar team. But honestly, what can we expect? The Lakers have won championships with the players they will be offering the Magic while we've missed the playoffs every year with the players we'll be offering the Magic. Who do you think they would pick if it comes down to talent only? Just because they probably hate the Lakers to, they owe it to their fanbase to get best package and i can't say the Nets do that for them.

Seem like the Magic holding out for something more before they can push the tampering charges. 3 1st rounders rather than 2? I wonder what it will take for Nets to acquire Howard. I am really hoping they could make a deal

I really think LA would have been in a stronger position to land Howard had they landed Paul. I do NOT think Howard signs off on LA even if LA caved in and offered Pau and Bynum. Not happening. THey need to parlay Pau, Bynum and the Odom TPE into Dwight AND another young star.
I just cant see Dwight signing with LA to play wih Hedo, Artest and Kobe. Could be wrong...I dont see it. so in my opinion? Stern didnt hurt us. He helped us.

But you don't think that Orlando would send him there regardless of what he thinks, as long they get what they want?
Maybe the Magic FO are throwing some really good smoke and mirrors or they're being as inept as we think they are acting. I've never seen a team whine, complain, and just try to embarrass Howard as much as they have and now they're still trying to say that despite all that they just brought him through in the last week (even though he asked them to keep this quiet), they want to keep him.
If the Magic FO is as crazy and emotional as they have been letting on, I don't trust that they'd make the most logical move and send him to us. It's like that psycho girlfriend that you break up with who says "well if I can't have him, no one can" and tries to kill you and then commit suicide. This is what I see them doing. Just going crazy and emotional and they won't realize the mistakes they've made until after they've already made the mistake.

They would of course do that...but if Dwight tells Lakers...not resigning with you...you gave up too much and I dont like the team that remains..then deal is off. We have seen this many times. Its not just about Orlando being happy. Its also about retaining enough to get the guy who is a free agent to commit to you. if the team paying a premium think they wont be able to keep what they bought...they always walk away.

You're right. I knew that happened in other situations but I guess now that we're in the situation I guess I'm a little paranoid lol.

They don't have the cap space to sign him. They just used it on Big Baby and J-Rich lol.
